Beth! It's great to see you around again! I hope you're ready to get back into the daily training grind after your little "vacation" (ha!).

Shawn! I agree with Leslie, I think No. 1 is fantastic. At the very least, you're almost guaranteed extra cheers from the crowd, which can be a huge morale booster. Have fun at the race! I'm really eager to hear/read all about it. I just hope the calf holds up and doesn't bother you too much.

Shawn - I'm not sure if your race is Sat or Sun . . . but either way, have a great time!!!  Careful with your calf though!  Can't wait to hear how it goes!

ShawnC13 - 2008-04-17 6:35 PM So I go and get my race package today and as I expected in the first swim heat as slowest first but what I didn't expect and not sure if I like I have race number 1 Yikes that is not a good thing

Go Number 1!!!

You ARE Number 1 in our eyes, Shawn, so it's a perfectly good race number! GOOD LUCK!!!

Thanks you guys. 23 hours and counting until my swim heat. We did receive some snow last night and it is almost all gone but still chances of more. Not sure if I should take my road bike or my mountain bike. If there is snow it will be brutal. Even if there is no snow tomorrows projected high is 6 C or 42.8 F that isn't warm hahahah. Thankfully it is a pool swim the bike portion is very very hilly. So I am thinking my transitions will not be fast as I am going to make sure I am dry and time to change into all the warm weather gear which will be a pain. But it will be worth it as I am going to do this for me and saying that I can do and not worry about my time. The calf is still sore but not going to stop me as I know there is free massage afterwards so I can let them work on it and make me cry. I am a little scared as being injured and sick the last 2.5 weeks has killed the training. My major concern is the swim but being pool I can rest just don't want to be so slow that I have so many people waiting. Thanks again for all the support encouragement help and especially the friendship this group is truly amazing. The support that you all give is amazing and I just wish that we all lived in one little area so that I could show you how much I support you all by being at your races with big signs letting everyone know how great you all are. So this time tomorrow I will be on the bike and hopefully near the end of the bike leg but who knows what the weather will hold.

Shawn-you will probably have to wait until morning to decide which bike to ride....hopefully the roadie!! Crossing fingers!

I did my longest workout ever in many years, as far back as I can recall.....at least since I was on the crew team in the mid-80s.....I rode two hours in 35 degree weather, then bricked it and did a 1-hour run!  Felt good, feet froze, but otherwise, I am really feeling like I can handle the Oly distance and be no worse for the wear out on the course.  My friend is really pushing me to do a HIM...but I don't know about that, I just don't have that much training time....although she does make me do these long workouts on the weekend.  Maybe next year, we shall see.  Should probably try a half mary someday to see how that feels.  Still, I am psyched that I got in a 3-hour workout in less-than-favorable conditions today.

I hope everyone is having a great weekend!!

GOOD LUCK SHAWN!!!!!!! I hope the weather improves!  You're going to do GREAT!!

I ran a 5K with my husband this morning (his first) and a 1-mile with my 4 year old.  My son did AWESOME and finished in 10:29.  For some reason, though, they put the 1-mile first, so I had to run with him, then run .5 miles to the 5K start, and THEN ran the 5K.  My time was 28:40.  Not bad, but not as fast as I had hoped.  Running the 1-mile first killed me (especially since my son ran pretty fast).  I only had about 3 minutes to start when I finally got to the start line, and I was already tired.  Oh well.

I am so proud of my husband!  He was dreading it b/c he is not in great shape and thought he'd have to walk a lot.  When we job together he really slows me down, so I figured he would finish in about 32 or 33. When I finished I ran to get him some water b/c I expected him to be pretty far behind me and thought he would be exhausted. When I got back to the line he was there!  He finished in 29:21!  He even ran the whole way!  I'm very proud.

Wow!  Congrats to the whole family!!  My son wants to go running tomorrow....weather permitting we will.  I want him to do a tri this summer, and he wants to...so we need to get him on a training plan.  Is there one for 5-yr-olds on BT?

So we got some snow here today. My sister and parents are just outside of town and they got 9" not sure how much they got where the tri is going to be but probably around the same amount. It is warming up so hopefully most of it will melt away!!

I am back and alive and just loving that I am once again a Triathlete. You all were so right that things in the pool would go better then what I was thinking. We didn't have chip so I am looking at the clock on my way out of the pool and almost fell over seeing the time. It was a 700m swim and I am sooo slow I was thinking 25-28 minutes with my breaks and that. Well I get out and it was under 21!!! I decided early instead of taking breaks and going freestyle I would go backstroke if tired and just keep going and that is what I did and it seemed to work. I actually passed someone and was passed 3 times all in the pool 2 times by the same person. Just a quick note as now I work on my RR

Here, here!

I had a so-so wralk this morning. I can tell that my calves are just plain out of shape which is why I'm having the pain. I know the only way to make them stop hurting is get out there and get her done I have so much going on this week that I probably won't have time to try out the new bike until Saturday. Sigh.

Hello, sweet Manatees!

Yes, so much exciting stuff--Leslie, you just keep pounding the amazing workouts out. That, AND you're done with pregnancy/nursing!!! Great!

Shawn did awesome. Drop by his RR (Link a few posts above) if you haven't already.

Terri, I'm so proud of you. What a gorgeous bike for a gorgeous lady. You will do her well. Keep on, keeping on. The calves, as the rest of you, will continue strengthening up. Don't be afraid to do even more walking on the wralk, if it keeps you going longer because your feet and legs feel better.

I did the fastest (well, the only) 7.5 mile run today I've ever done
