Also do we need an ankle strap to attach the chip to, or are those provided?

You can buy a 1-day "membership" at check-in.

Bump, one or two last big weekends coming up.  Watcha got planned?  I have a 6hour ride Sat with a short run after, then some swimming and running Sunday.  I *think* i've put in my longest long run, we shall see what the coach says.  Can't see how doing another couple miles will do any good.....

Ran 26 k last week and 23 this week... will have one more in that range in 10 days. Trying do do some 10-15 k runs below race pace to get my leg speed up for extended periods... not too many bricks lately unless you count my 4:41 HIM a couple weeks ago. Changing my wheel set up for Whistler. Flo 90 is out in the back and I will use my new 404FC with cover and Flo 60 up front. The 404/cover barely weighs more than the 90.

Some pretty gorgeous pics being posted on the FB page for the run course.

If you are going to be out after dark, discussions re having a headlamp in SN.  If all goes right, I won't need one.....

I plan on being done by dinner time. Might throw a glow stick in my special needs in the event of an injury/crash that adds a bunch to my time. Sunset will be around 8pm in a month, that's 13 hours so I'm pretty safe. I think I am on track for a 9:50-10:30 finish.

That has been pulled from FAQ and IMC is NOT on the TRIBC Calender which means they are NOT TriCan/ TriBC sanctioned as far as I can tell.

This is the most laid back IM group ever

Had a good long weekend, long ride Sat and 16 mile run Sunday

Yesterday started getting a little tendonitis in my foot, most likely from using a new pair of shoes and I laced them way too tight, it's been bothering me a little since then.  But I need the whole thing to go away, so gonna cut out the runs for a few days to let it get happy again.  I was doing really well injury-wise up to this, hopefully just a minor bump in the road as most things turn out to be

Oh yeah, athlete guide is up

That's it.  Done with the long stuff for bike and run.   90 biked yesterday and 12.5 run today, plus an ocean swim race.   things really winding down.  What's done is done.

Did long bike (155k) on Wednesday and long run Saturday (22.2k). One more longish ride next week for me. Run taper is on now. I still plan on a few longer swims until a week out or so. Are you flying or driving ?

Friendly reminder to anyone driving in from the US ... don't bring your guns.

Chris - good luck later this month in Whistler. You had a solid race in O-side and I'll be interested to read your race report after Canada. Either way, I'll be asking for tips as IMAZ approaches!

I am driving in from the US and will try to remember not to bring a gun. Funny, don't own one so no worries there. Me and my family will drive up on the Wed before the race for a bit of relaxation and fun in Whistler before the race. Never been there so it will be fun. Any great places for food?

First trip to Whistler... we are driving to Kamloops on Wed and going in the back way through Pemberton on Thursday (and I get to drive part of the bike course in the process) I expect the usual mix between chains and local outlets. We get dinner vouchers for Friday in the race package since there is no pre race dinner. Watch your speed ... some of the mountain roads have slow limits. Excessive speed (25 mph over limit) will get your car impounded.

Perhaps this is common knowledge, but as a beginner triathlete I'm just learning everything day by day. Anyway, the athlete guide is a bit inconsistant with respect to wearing of bibs, in one portion it says we must don our bib prior to heading out on the bike course, yet in the 'bike summary' portion it has no mention of bibs and that we just have to have our numbers on the bike / helmet / body.

So I emailed the IMC contact address and heard back within 20 minutes. Apparently bibs are only required on the run, not on the bike (and on the front during the run). So pack the bib in the T2 bag.

2 weeks from now I'll be landing at YVR then heading north on the Sea to Sky. I've been there skiing many times, but only passed-through town on the highway in the summer, 11 years ago. I can't wait to check things out in the summer, and compete in my first IM. Did a 5hr ride + 3km open-water swim last weekend, and now I'm tapering-down training, and feeling strong and ready. Woohoo!

For anyone who's completed an IM before, what's a piece of advice that you wish you had prior to going into your first IM?

Actually, I did get the best piece of advice the day before, from my training partner back home.  He said "no pressure, just enjoy the day."  Most of us are not KQ ing or at the FOP, and completion is the primary goal although we all have secret and not so secret goal times.  Trust your training, follow your race plan *especially* on this course if reports are accurate.  The actual race is more of a victory lap and emotional outlet for all the months of early morning training and long lonely bike rides.

And yes, no race bibs on the bike.  Yay!   I always hated that m dot rule

I am on the same travel sched although I'll be spending Thursday night in Vancouver with some old friends, driving up Friday.  Never been to Whistler.

The best advice I received going into my first 140.6 was "the answer to all problems in IM is to slow down". I'd add the earlier I can recognize the problem the easier it is to address.

I still have trouble remembering this, but often it's related to putting expectations or a time goal on a race. My goal for this race is to stay mentally calm and only use energy to move me forward.

Hey all, accdg to Mark Webb, of official coach TN, he says he swam with the RD this morning and they are changing the swim from a beach exit after loop one to a straight two looper.   No confirmation yet, but accdg to him it's from the horses' mouth, so make sure you check

2.5 mile ocean swim, 8.3 mile run.   I consider all workouts from here on out to be optional

And now apparently confirmed by WTC
