Hi...May I join Team Skinny?

My name is Sharyn and I am a 39 year old, stay at home mom of an almost 3 year old daughter. I was a high school math and science teacher for 14 years, before I had my daughter. I live in SW Florida and love it!

I have been trying to lose weight for years and I have had up and down success/failure. I recently became interested in sprint trilathlons as I realize I need to exercise to lose weight, and I wanted something that would challenge me and keep me working towards a goal.

I joined WW 8 weeks ago at 256.8 and am down to 245.8 as of yesterday morning.

I would love to be a part of a group that would be supportive not only of my weight loss goals, but my goal to participate in triathlons.

Welcome 38,  We weigh in on Wed;s and set monthly goals.  I at least feel that it is easier and more productive to say I will lose 4lbs then I will lose 125 lbs.

Any Training questions feel free to ask.  There is also a nutrition log that you can track your eating and some (myself) have found it to help figure what I am doing.

rode the new bike for the first "real" time today. much faster than a mountain bike for sure. but man i need to learn a few things about riding a roadbike. first time i really hammered the pedals i felt as if i would pull the bike right out from under me. i guess a little more finess is required. figuring the bike wieghs almost half what the mountain bike does. i can really throw it around. just something i will need to get used to. but man do i love it.

It handles alot different for sure.  Just take it easy the first few times and THEN throw the hammer down.  Get used to the way it handles as well.

Hi 38,

Like everyone's been saying, WELCOME!!! If I can give any advice, it's that despite some hardships we all go through this sport is fun, challenging, and well worth the blood, sweat, and tears. Don't give up, keep going strong, and feel free to jump right in.

Well yesterday night I did two (2) training routines, almost 3 hrs in total. I was exhausted by the end of it. But I felt I had to make up the skipped routine from Fri. evening. Anyhow, tonight I have off and tomorrow starts wk 5 (Man, it's gone by so quickly). I've increased the weight I'm lifting by about 10 lbs, and hopefully another 10 by next month. Day 30 is coming up ( I think 2 days away) and I should have some 30 day pix for everyone. I can see a little difference, though I know I need some more work. Plus I'm happy to report that I think I've also engaged my metabolism again which is also really, really good. Now I just have to keep it up!

Sherm--

Sounds like you did fairly well for the wedding wknd. Give yourself a pat on the back (or a twinkie) ---> (just kidding about the twinkie)! Now the next hurdle; Detroit Rock City! Jump high, stay within that mindset, and smash any doubt that you'll succeed! You can do it.

Comet--

The bike sounds great, glad you like it. Though don't break your neck trying to do tricks or anything. Though I know many have raced with wheelchairs before, I don't want to see you in that situation.

Sappho--

Glad to hear you had a good time in Paris. Back to it, right?

Saling--

Guess what I saw out on somebody's lawn today??? A treadmill! Though I didn't stop to check it out, as it look pretty ratty from afar, I have been keeping an eye out.

It wasn't mine Josh..LOL.  Keep your eyes open.  I got a Proform elliptical for $50.  Not state of the art (no fan and no programing), but it works great.

Comet, Good plan to keep the rubber side down.

Hello after the Weekend! I just realised that I haven't posted the weight goal this month but I think I'm gonna rebel a bit and my goal is a follows: to try and do at least 3 workouts a week.

I'm going cycling with Karen tomorrow and then I think running on Wednesday and then I'm at a conference till Saturday evening- I'll try to control my eating even though it's not the best week for those kinds of promises. I also found a Tri Club which is about 40mins drive from where I live and they seem to be so welcoming- I might actually give it a go but unfortunately not until next week.

38beginner welcome to the group! You definitely chose the "bestest" bunch of people!

I have go to get off these point 2's.  I just want to see something different on my scale other than a damn .2.  Give me a .4 or a .6 anything but a .2.

In all seriousness 5 pounds in a week is great for me.  Got a tough week with a golf trip for the next three days lots of eats and drinks....must go run while in Alabama.

Sherm,  I didn't see any water in that list.  Don't forget that it can be fun to be somewhat sober around the drunks,  they are fun to watch.

Unless your holding back someone else's hair all evening, or constantly cleaning off your shoes. Then who's having fun...?

sounds like you speak from experience josh lol

kappie72 - 2008-06-07 12:58 PM Good workout this morning...20 min swim, 35 min bike and 25 min walk/jog. 15 days until the big day! I actually had a dream about it last night which means I'm stressing out about it subconsciously. But I'm still thinking I'll be able to finish, even if I'm last

Congrats on the awesome workout! You will definitely finish!

Hey Skinnies.

Summer parties suck.

Just thought I'd mention that.

Oh, and Mexican for lunch sucks.

Mmmm. Lunchtime fajitas. Good for the belly. Bad for the scale.

Hey everyone!

My DH and DD and I are going on vacation tomorrow. We are going to the beach and our hotel has a fitness center and pool, so I am hoping to get in some good workouts and not eat too much!

I need to stay focused and not slip into "vacation mentality" that tells me.....aahhh, go ahead and eat whatever you want...you're on vacation.

I am excited to be a part of this group!

Have fun on vacation and drink plenty of water.  That will help control some cravings and snacking.
