GOT THE ANSWER!!! Who wants to hear the conclusion to this amazing tale? Show of hands?
Talked to the manager at my local branch. They do NOT count coins here in the valley. None of the branches have a machine. I have TWO options. 1. Give them the change, they send it to their main vault, count it, and what ever amount they count, gets credited to my account. Could take a couple weeks AND it's a 'trust' issue (not really). I have to accept their count. 2. Surprised the HELL out of me. Since I rolled them and counted them. They will give me cash, no questions asked. I asked if they were SURE of that. Would they unroll and count them. The manager said, no, they would never do something like that. I even told him that it surprised me because it's a trust issue for them. I even said I could load the rolls up with one quarter short or a roll of slugs... He said "I guess you could" but they didn't seem to care. (good thing I didn't give him my name! SO, I have to do the work, but good thing for all, cops won't need to get involved and I won't have to pack any heat!!!! WOOT!!!!

Will your bank not break up all the rolling you've done, dump it into their machine, and charge you a % for counting it? That's what my bank does. THAT'S what I'm interesting in seeing if happens. I played that scenerio out in my dream last night and it ended up badly. It involved weapons and a stand off with cops... Not good. Ha! Close... |

You're just depositing legal tender. Makes no sense. You should try it. That would be funny - go in with your bucket full of change and a deposit slip made out for your estimated amount (I would over-estimate). When they say, how do we know this amount is right - you say - count it and see - they count it - tell you it is actually whatever it is - and then fix the deposit slip. Viola!!! People do that all the time, except for filling out the deposit slip thing in advance. Yes you wait to see how much it is, then fill it in... Isn't that how depositing money works? Take to the bank, they count, it goes into your account? I am so confused as to what the issue is... except that maybe 'kido's bank is lazy? Gotta remember... It is Vegas. They may have stopped counting peoples coins due to the slot machine spitting out coins. Now that it has all changed to tokens maybe it is different. I would take it to your bank, where you have an account, ask them to count it. They really should accomidate. They won't be pleased because they will actually have to work... but tis the life in the "new" service economy. |

Tokens only for dollar machines. Everything else is paper only... Cash in, a cash voucher out, that needs to get taken to the cashier or cash machine... Maybe 5 years ago, this wouldn't have been an issue. All the casinos had coin counters. I could have taken the bucket to any one of them and had it counted. Modernization is not ALWAYS the best thing. Edited by Aikidoman 2008-10-30 12:45 PM |
