I don't know about any of you but, I am starting to get both excited and nervous already.  If I can just get past these darn injuries and start building up the miles I would feel a lot better.  I have been doing races (lots of marys) on and off for over 25 years and this is the first one in a long time that has my blood flowing especially so early in the training.

Good luck with your training everyone!

I'm finished wih 3 months of training too and about to build.  I'm being sidelined with a foot thing - PF and now what seems like an achilles strain.  The PF I've trained through and its comes and goes. What I'm feeling now is not my heel...I'm a horrible patient and you know there's THE SCHEDULE that I must follow...I'm struggling I have to admit it. I'm pissed off. I'm sick of it. I just want to train and be on my merry way.  Argh!!

On the good side, training up to now has gone very well.   I'll be making some hotel reseravations here soon.  I am getting excited and nervous too.  199 days!  Time flies when you're having fun, eh?

Thanks for being here.  Happy training everyone.

P.S. Lori - you're lucky, I haven't lost any weight. Inches maybe..but no weight.  Great job!

Hang in there Dolores.  Just build up slowly once you get the foot thing behind you.  The achilles is what I am fighting too.  I'm finally getting back to normal after over three months of struggling with it.  My plan is to just do what I can.  I can swim and bike without making things worse.

The running will just be a little behind my plan.  Hopefully, I can build a good base in the other areas and can work the running hard later this summer.

Quick question about hotels, how close is it necessary to stay to the start line?  I was originaly looking at hotels super close but I didn't know how necessary/convenient it will be (price is a factor here, but I don't want to have a miserable stay either).  I'll have a car there and my parents will be picking me up in the morning and dropping me off at the start.  Does anybody whose done the race before or already booked their stay have any suggestions?

Hope everyone's training is going well!

Unnecessary.  Stayed at Hampton Inn & Suites on Scottsdale Rd.  About a 5-7 minute drive.   EZ to get to/from both on check in/swim days and race day.  They have the most comfortable beds in the world.  7 -11 next door for last minute special needs essentials    In & Out is on the way home from the race finish.   Only problem is starbucks is a couple blocks away.

Training is going along OK here. I'm overseas for 5 weeks but managed to borrow a road bike. The Scottish hills are kicking my butt though

I was stressing about not getting a HIM distance race in this summer. The best i could find is Magic Mtn HIM on October 10th. It will be a training day

I'm feeling good.. coming out of 'base" training and will start bricks this weekend.. left elbow discomfort is starting to dissipate and so far so good..  I'm excited that I have dropped 10 pounds and with 5+ months to go, I'm 5 pounds from goal race weight.. Just need to go to bed in the evening and stop with the TV shows and I should be good!

Welcome Pebble.  I am sure as we get closer there will be lots of questions coming your way.  I know I am already wondering about things like water temps, food on the course, and race day logistics.  But, those and other questions can wait until the insane taper period.  Right now, I should just focus on training.

Thanks!

Anyone up for group BT IMAZ t-shirts for this event? Figure if there's interest we've got plenty of time to get a design of some type worked out and orders coordinated. I know reading through some of the previous forums it's been done a few times and a good way to track down fellow Bt'ers onsite.

Hi,
I'm considering an "Ironman" ironman 2010.  For those doing IM Arizona, Can some one fill me in on the registration for 2009 IM Arizona.  How fast did registration  fill up?

Thanks

I'm down for a shirt as long as they're not heinous.

And gleasokr, 2009 registration was full by 7pm central time on the Monday after the race. For the first few hours the site kept crashing and a bunch of folks were blocked.

If this is the race you *just HAVE to do* I'd suggest going down there this year, volunteering on Sunday, then waiting in line to register on site the following morning.

I made it in via online registration, but it involved hitting refresh for about 2 hours until I was able to get in.  And, as others have said, it closed out by 7 PM that day.  So, figure about a 6-7 hour window where you have to keep trying.  If you don't get in via that route, you can always pay extra for a "Community Fund" slot.

Very fast.  It was up one day and it filled up. I had to get in by paying the Community Fund way....I had friends that went down and volunteered so they would be second in line to sign up, current year competitors got first dibs.  Good Luck..there's still a lot of Community Funds slot open this year and time to train.

Don't forget.....  There were two races in 2008 where athletes could sign up beforehand, April and November.   It's hard to use 2009 as a guide as the signups were so different.

And the CF funds went REALLY fast for 11/08.  Probably a lot of people from 4/08 (like me), but you could watch them go down almost daily.   CF slot has crossed my mind

How is everyone doing in their training so far?  22 more weeks!  I've had a couple of low-volume weeks due to various reasons, but after watching IMCdA all day, I'm re-motivated and excited to head into my build phase in 2 weeks.
