They know that they know the words, but they just can't make them happen. My grandfather always did have some trouble with language after his 2nd stroke. But he learned to read and write again at nearly 70. But he never did get over the frustration of still not having the right words all the time. But to this day, everyone in my family still calls a "putty knife" a "scutty-parf" after he called it that all day while we were wall-papering one time. Hi Chad Muffin!!! How's it going? My mom is having a hard time with the Alzheimer's like that--it's not just that she doesn't recognize people or has very little short term memory, but often she gets frustrated speaking, knowing she knows what she wants to say but can't quite get it out. |
