So, how does the temp and wind thing work.  Say you leave the house on your bike and it is 32, by the time you get back it is 50, do you still get full points?  (and vice versa, it is 50 when you leave but 35 by the time you get home)????

sorry for being a "suckage" neophyte.

Personally I do a prorate average type thing. So if I leave and it is - 18 c and I get back and it is -12 I will give myself 5 points for weather for the whole run. Sometimes it will snow for the first half and not for the second half or it will start in a blizzard and end with a light dusting. Also there are problems with the wind, especially in Calgary. IT can blow a gale here one minute and be calm the next. Frankly, I know what it is like to run in 32+ km hour steady winds for 2 hours and I know what it is like if it is just gusting up and down and I try to adjust the points accordingly. In the end more of a gut feeling as to what you deserve. If it sucks then it sucks and you deserve the points. IF it sucks when you start but gets less sucky as the run goes on then you deserve less points.

Regardless, I trust you.

Looks like a fun little group here.

We have been blessed with gorgous October and November (so far) weather. My normal hour run with a 3-5 point multiplier is not happening so oh well. On the plus side, I get to ride my bike 3 times to work this month which will get me a couple points.

Well, this is just ridiculous.  It's 52 degrees at nearly 10 PM.  I am screwed!

Another beautiful, warm, Minnesota morning.  Sigh.  I will have to run outside tonight, even if for no points.

just checking since not sure how its being played and want to be consistent- 40 for biking and 35 for running are the bottom meaning north of that for temps means no points i.e. this AM 38 mins @ 37 degrees, 7mph winds= goose egg, correct?

Did anyone else get really excited to see crappy weather this morning? 22 and I was stoked. Thank you, CWWC, for making me more of a nutcase during taper week.

Like Bill said, I like using wunderground.com.  After you locate the weather station closest to you, you can check the history by the day -- I think it's in 6 minute increments.  After a run or ride I'll check the website to figure out what the wind & temps were during it since the temperature changes quickly when the sun comes up or the clouds move in.

If I'm feeling too lazy to do that I'll take the temp at the start and temp and the end and use the median temp for the whole workout.  Probably same difference.

Thanks for the tip on wunderground.com. I like how I can look up the temp for my favorite running spots, which seem to be a little cooler than what the local weather reports for the metro area. Maybe I will get some points this week, if I run at the coldest time of the day.

Because of vast amounts of pressure that was heaped upon me by one mr. Jszat, I will be in for my first year!  bummer that this weeks runs are all in the afternoon tho so will probably end my first week with a big donut for points...........

Wow, wunderground.com is great by the way. I didn't realize how easy it would be to get historical data.  We're planning a bike trip to Switzerland next late Spring and I was worried about temps.  At least now I know what it was last year at the same time.  Wicked cool.

Oh my gosh, that trip is crazy!  I would cry if I was faced with that...  Fortunately our trip will be quite flat, it's around a bunch of lakes   No off-road stuff either.  But it will be, undoubtedly, beautiful.  We will save the trips up into the Alps for a bus tour.

Hey ya'll. I have a lot of treadmill work this winter to do, but I think I will give it a shot. I am not in it to win it, but this might get me outside a little more.

I have not run outside in winter since I moved to the frosty shores of Lake Michigan.  Lake effect snow, wind blowing off the lake, nasty roads...it is an awful, inhospitable environment.

Big workout day but no points to show for it. Did get a nice roller ski in this afternoon, so I don't mind the lack of points.
