How's your winter schedule shaping up? |

How's your winter schedule shaping up? Done 4 runs post IM, today's was 30' and I felt mostly okay. I think recovery wise I've turned the corner. I haven't ridden any of my bikes since IM and been in the pool once. I plan on trying to build up to running 6x a week with hopes to make some gains on speed, bike when mood suits me and do a couple cyclocross races for kicks, and swim 2x a week until I feel motivated to do more. |

Congrats! |

Expert 1118 , North Carolina | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread I know ya'll already talked a bit about lodging, so I may have missed this. We made reservations at the Beach Resort host hotel then later found out from a friend that we cannot park there. Apparently the parking area is used for the expo or other IM setup, so guests have to park at a nearby Walmart. I'm wondering how far the Walmart is and how much inconvenience this would be. Once all of our stuff is in our room, I suppose it won't matter much. Just have to walk to the truck when we want to go out to eat etc. |

I don't think they make you park all the way at walmart. There is a parking lot alittle ways down the road for people staying in the hotel I think |

There is also room for people to park along side of the road on Thomas drive. |

Champion 19812 MA | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread I'd call and ask about parking. Phatknot stayed at the hotel portion this year you might want to ask him. Folks parked on the side of the road which is under construction. You can't park there race day though or they will tow you. WTC folks didn't like us parking there at all before the race but everyone did anyhow. Staying close to transition and being right there is great. Having to walk back and forth to Walmart would be about 12' or longer walk for me. Shores of Panama is 8 minute walk and we had access to our car in the garage all the time. My family drove out onto the bike course and when they returned they parked in Walmart but were able to get back onto road after bike course closed at 5:30. We are down to less than 50 weeks to race day |

Veteran 260 Hong Kong | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread Great tip! Thanks LSUfan4444 - 2010-11-21 8:23 AM Also, I would only recommend completely changing clothes (at least shorts), just to have something dry. Plus, for the bike, I do not think I can do 112 miles in tri shorts. I need the full padding! I wore my cycling shorts over my tri shorts for the bike, then in T2, just slide your cycling shorts off. You can have the comfort of your favorite tri shorts, but the padding of your favorite cycling shorts. Then in T2, you don't have to change again, just slip the cycling shorts off. |

Expert 945 Auburn AL | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread Hey Gang...we have a lot of time between now and starting our "real" training plans to keep us entertained here in this thread. Just curious as to how most of you are planning to approach training between now and June"ish" of next year? I am planning on doing a HIM around May, that will keep me focused over the winter and thru the first of the year. Right now I am also trying to concentrate on running. MY RUNNING SUCKS Trying to run consistently at least 5 days a week and build a long run on one of those days. The goal is to try to keep the IT band happy. Also mixing a couple of bikes in now and will add one as my running gets stronger. Jorges cycling plan in January (following loosely) Planning to get back to Masters swimming 3x a week after the first of the year |

Extreme Veteran 546 Oakland, Florida | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread I am doing the same. I have a Olympic scheduled in March, a HIM in May, and will look for another HIM around Sept maybe Augusta 70.3. Really looking foward to doing this race and getting to know everyone on this thread. In other races I have done it has been great talking and meeting several BTers from the thread of those races. I used the thread from IMFL last year to come up with where to stay. We are reserved at Panama Shores for Thursday thru Sunday night. It is about a 5 hour drive from my home in Orlando, Florida. Edited by [email protected] 2010-11-24 9:05 AM |

Member 44 | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread I'm new to IM, but having been doing Sprint, Olympic and a few HIM distances over the last 10 years - realized I am not getting any younger and needed to get the IM accomplished! I am using a winter maintenance program for the next 3 months (and trying to ease into the running after a stress fracture on my foot this season). Focusing on some good strength training (back/legs/core) and have signed up for Mooseman HIM in June. Also have been doing quite a bit of cyclocross and mountian biking right now for some variation. |

Veteran 260 Hong Kong | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread First of all HAPPY THANKSGIVING GANG!!! I see some great plans for next year. I also struggle with my running, so I've been trying to make more emphasis in that department... I did NYC Marathon, which by the way, was one of the most awesome days of my life! What a trip!!! Check RR. I'll end the year with a good 10K evening of Dec 31 on a local Golf course. Then a half Mary in February. I won't try a PR or anything like that, just run the distance and try to have a good time. Some sprints early in the season like Parris Island Marine Station in March, that is a must!. First intense race will be St. Anthony's. That's probably one of the most intense races in the country. Fast and furious, 4000+ athletes including some big names in the PRO category. On Saturday they have the Meek and Mighty and my 8 yo will be doing it. It's fun to turn races into family trips/vacation! Then 70.3 Augusta. Did it last year and really liked it. Not to much time left for IMFL, but I think is doable. As far as training plan, I'll probably go with MarkAllenOnline. There's a special going on right now for the whole year. For now the plan is to be careful and not to get carried away with the Holidays. I love good food but today a bought a pair of jeans 34!!!! I've been 36 for the last almost ten years!!! |

Expert 977 | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread Is it too early to get excited? My plan is to continue training with my tri group. This was my first year trying tri's so I plan on getting stronger with almost a whole year to get ready. I have run 6 sprints and one HIM this year after a full and half marathon in January. We all have different races coming up but a few in common so it helps. Only 2 of us are doing IMFL though. This year I'll do the Hooters HM the first of March, an Olympic tri in Clermont in March, New Orleans HIM in April and a smattering of sprints through out the summer. Sebring century ride over Labor Day followed by a HIM in Clermont in September. Figure the hills will be good for me. At least that is the plan. The group that puts on Miami Man has a new Olympic in the fall and I might try that one. We also have a few sprints in the fall so I'll pick and choose. I'll be checking here pretty regularly and really appreciate all the good advice from the veterans. enjoy, Duane |

Veteran 239 Austin | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread Happy Thanksgiving to all of you as well... I give thanks that I am actually able to do IMFL at all... and for all of you guys, too! I guess my plan is much simpler than most of you...I just have to learn how to run! I did a 4.5 mile run in downtown Austin yesterday, and have 3 5Ks scheduled between now and 12/26. Runs on the road will get longer soon. I am planning on the 70.3 in Galveston, possibly the 70.3 in Kansas and the full aquabike at Redman in September to get my timing down for a full swim and bike. I have a few full century rides in there as well. Get motivated, and keep your feet moving! |

Veteran 260 Hong Kong | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread LOL! Socks, that's how it was probably written, I am still learning English and composition is not my strength. Like Phatknot noted (he is multi-lingual!) I meant not enough time from Augusta HIM at the end of September to IMFL in Early November. When I ran into him after the finish of this year's Augusta, it was my first HIM and I was still overwhelmed by the experience, and he just said that it was just a long training day for him!!!! I guess that's the wayI will approach it next year. As far as being totally overdosed on tryptophan (turkey) and lots of other yummy things, you are right again!!!
