Hey, I am off work on the 21st/22nd (actually on call 3-11 on the 21st but am available in the morning) Was planning a long run that day but could rearrange that for another day I have off if we can do the 21st. I usually do battlefild loops but they're short/boring. We could also do the loop from my tri last month, I can pull the course map of the race web site if you want. It's firly flat, rolling hills not a huge amount of traffic

The sky's not looking good out there, folks Don't know if I should chance it or not- though I'll have a better idea when I leave work and go outside. Might have to run indoors tonight (as I don't want to count a stationary bike ride towards my total - I need a trainer). BUT - I am going cycling with the "big kids" tomorrow morning at 6am- a group from the tri-club who will be going about 18-20 mph, so we'll see how I hold up.

DMarkSwan - 2007-07-12 3:44 AM I keep having to remind myself to be patient and get my rides in as they are scheduled. Tomorrow is a short ride. Watching the tour doesn't help, last night I was itching to ride, but the thunder storms thwarted me.

The Tour is my annual source of inspiration in the middle of winter so HANG IN THERE! Its really hard to practice solf control when you are having delusions of riding the Tour

Just a quick Barloworld update... as TriAya has posted Robbie Hunter did a fantastic job last night, especially since his team is almost ALL climbers so he doesnt really have a lead out man/team.

I was reading and interview with him this morning and he has his heart set on a stage win this year... so every sprint finish he WILL be there!!! Last night was his best placed stage finish in the tour EVER

Eh, don't worry, I bounced the Barloworld boys back to Credit Agricole to pee in their thread, too.

I think the picture is kind of hot.  The angle it was taken from, anyway.  I know I'm sick, you don't have to tell me!!!

Put in another ride, however it was the 'bare minimum' as far as time goes. I made up for it by continuing to push the pace. I tried keeping cadence a tad higher than usual today, average was 105.

Edit - 4 of 12 rides down, not even a week in...

The rain gods smiled on me and I was able to FINALLY (I know, it's only been 3 days but it felt like forever) take a ride today.  Legs felt great, and I could have gone much harder... but I know that Friday is going to be hard enough!

2/10 down.

ROCK ON BARLOWORLDERS!

It has been my great joy to follow this thread, trawl your logs, and come up with some good, hard numbers.

Team Barloworld Goal Stages Total Stages Ridden Total Time Ridden % Goal Achieved
DMarkSwan 7 1 0 14.29%
DoloresM2 6 1 0 16.67%
JoshKaptur 10 2 0 20.00%
Sf biggestloser 12 4 0 33.33%
TriAya 20 5 0 25.00%
wurkit gurl 15 2 0 13.33%
zipp1 10 4 0 40.00%
Total 80 19 0 23.75%

So everybody is really putting in for the team.  Judi again leads in overall standing despite her insane ER schedule.  Kudos also to Josh v2.0 who's second despite being the original bikeless wonder with Nurse Ratchet for a gym manager.

SUPER CONGRATS TO ALL ... you spin me right round, baby right round, like a record baby, right round round round ...

Although madcow is giving us a run for the money, I think barlo leads the unofficial team standings for smacktalk too!

Knocked off ride #3 this morning! See my blog for the deets, but my "split" time was 1:12:40 for 15.93 miles, which is a personal best for me! Overall the ride was longer but the last leg of it I slowed WAY down due to a ton of hills, was getting tired and was trying not to get lost on the way back since I was alone.

No worries - I'm pretty swamped at work right now, so not much time to post in other people's threads. And training otherwise - plus, my room is still in the stages of unpacking so I don't spend much time down there right now.

Thought I'd stop in and let you know that Saunier Duvall rider David Millar is comfortably resting in 4th OA.

Dear Triaya,

Are you seriously counting those 5 & 10 minute jaunts as a stage ride?? HMMMM!

Oh.....and by the way JoshKaptur..............you ready for this? I'm actually gonna be nice............GREAT JOB ON BUSTIN' YER CHERRY & ROCKIN' YER 1ST TRI! Even w/ the flat tire & all. However, it didn't happen if there are no pics in your album.

SEE YOU IN PARIS.........We'll be waiting!

Mark ... you rock the Barlo-house.

Soretaint ... ain't only your taint that's sore, I guess. As for mine ... sore it ain't! As I said ... newbie knows how to read the rules ... 15 minutes wearing flipflops on a tricycle with pink-n-purple streamers counts!!!

On a less cheerful pink-n-purple note ... those are the colors my ankle is turning after a mishap involving a very fat puppy and a broken dog crate. Never fear ... lots of ice, a compression bandage and it'll be right as rain (right enough to go slowly on, or if not, hell, it will still be right enough to cycle on a trainer with like zero resistance for 15 minutes.  Vive le efficiency!!!).

Sorry to hear about your ankle... sounds similar to what happened to mine... just keep it elevated all you can... will help with the swelling heaps!!

Just remember two a day workouts count if you need a couple of days off to recouperate.. that and I think you are riding 20 stages??? Or 21? so you have two rest days up your sleeve if you need it!

And if all else fails.... one legged drills Because Im sure you know how FUN they are!
