Because it snowed here last night (at least not as much as other places in Ontario). You and your So Cal sunny skies can kiss my snow jacket-covered bum as I freeze my way to the pool. Oh, and nice run by the way... you may think it doesn't matter to the swim challenge, but running really helps your swimming cardio. So basically if I suck at running and swimming there's no hope for me? I knew I had a great future in relays . That middle finger smiley could really come in handy. Get on that, would ya? |

LOL As far as the running I logged 5 miles today along that sunny San Diego Mission Bay. LOL Don't laugh! I read your inspire, I need to read more on lactate (Spelling correct?) build-up. I just don't know enough. I guess as my mileage increases this will become even more important. I'll read tonight. LOL |

Supersonicus Idioticus 2439 Thunder Bay, ON | Subject: RE: Evil Elves It's not something to look into too much. Some guidelines are that if you feel destroyed, maybe an easy 15 minute swim might speed your recovery. If you raced, an easy swim the next day or the day after is a good recovery. If ever you are in the middle of a few tough repeats, easy swimming helps flush out lactate. Do this if the purpose of the set allows it. For instance, if I'm doing 4x100m @ 5 minutes, I have 4 minutes in between to flush out some lactic acid so I can make the next one faster. However, if I"m doing 20x50 @ 50seconds, the point of the set is to keep going. |

I think I'm going to take the motorcycle out and ride it, of course after I lay out and get some sun

Apparently you are not subject to the evils of Homeowner Association Covenants. I can't even change the color of my mailbox post, let alone build a castle. I had to get written permission to put a swingset up in my backyard. I hate HOAs. Rant over - but I do like the castle. Gnomes don't scare me - part of the Norwegian heritage. (In our house, we called them Tomte or Nisse...and my mom had a gazoodle of them. We even had a family of them that matched ours.) Yes, actually in my subdivision we have very strict covenants. The castle stands alone (kind of like the cheese) a few miles from my house... but I get to pass it on my way to, well, everywhere I go. On the other hand, when my daughter was young enough to be into princesses she used to write letters to the king and ask me to put them in his mailbox. |

It was right about this time last year that I first got back into the water and discovered that I was a pretty poor swimmer. I guess I've come/swam a long way since then! Nicole That's great Nicole, congrats on such a huge accomplishment! Funny you still get to keep swimming this month Funny, but I've passed that "point of no return" to where I want (really want!!!) to swim! Did my first December swim this morning: 1800m (16.3% of goal). I had been planning on only 6 swims this month, but I've figured out how to rearrange the schedule a little to get in at least 7 swim. There should be no reason for me to not exceed my goal! |
