Which IM are you doing?

I am doing Lake Placid. It will be my first. I'm really looking forward to it, but not just the race, the entire journey!

Awesome! Good luck. You'll have plenty of BTers around for support and inspiration.
I'm doing my first IM this year as well in Wisconsin. Anyone got any good winter trainer rides for IM or HIM training? I'm doing some research online and with books, but I'm always looking for other suggestions too.

Good luck with Wisc.  I like to watch movies or I have 2 and a Half Men the first season on DVD.  The second season comes out this week or next.  I also have 4 or 5 Spinnerval DVD's which are nice for intervals or hills.  I have the 3 hour one (I can't remember what its called) but I haven't been brave enough to break that one out yet.  I got it for Christmas .

It's Challenge update time!

There are 121 people participating in the challenge this month.

And now.... Here are the team standings through January 6th:

(Cue the drum roll, please!.... You'll have to scroll down because for some reason, the table is wayyyy down the page!)

Ranking Team # of Participants Percentage Completed
1 Scrambled Legs 13 30.16%
2 Twisted Blisters 13 23.89%
3 Who's Your Marmadaddy? 13 23.12%
4 Team Ride Lots 13 20.82%
5 Loving Every Mile – L.E.M. 14 20.01%
6 Flying Fish 15 17.86%
7 Funky-Chrono-Monkeys of the Frozen Cinder Tundra 12 17.68%
8 Wet and Wild 15 17.08%
9 Team T.I.T.S. 13 15.74%

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE SCRAMBLED LEGS!

BUT remember that this is only the FIRST week of the challenge! January is only 22.6% completed. There's still time to help your team achieve that #1 ranking!

So get out there and Swim/Bike/Run!... And then Swim/Bike/Run some more!

Okay Team Ride Lots, fourth place ain't bad, but we're not so far behind the next coupla teams. I think we should aim to kick their butts next week. Anyone else with me?

I am. Tomorrow I'm gonna ride outside maybe in shorts! The weather is looking pretty icky beyond that, though. Escape the trainer while I can!

Note to all --

Team Scrambled Eggs has decided to allow you to drop out of the January challenge as long as you agree to look directly into the camera and say "I am not more determined than a Scrambled Egg!"

26 more miles complete! I rode in short sleeves and knickers and sweated like crazy. It's warm out there! I also was my graceful self and dropped my bike at an intersection. The whole clip out one side, lean to the opposite. I haven't done that in over a year. Oh well. Happy riding, team!

Pam

I got my other foot out, but I threw the bike toward the other side. I landed on both feet, but I took a pedal to the shin and my bike ended up on the ground. I'm happy it was my roadie and not my high end carbon fiber tri bike! I'm sure the passing cars were quite amused.

I'm glad you are ok!  I've actually fallen in front of cars, so don't feel bad

Great job everybody! I am so excited to report that I got in 9.2 miles today OUTSIDE! It was kinda cold but it was good, felt really good. I've dropped my bike more times than I care to admit - glad you are okay.

Oh, and RIDE LOTS!

I made it through last season with no major incidents, but the first year I rode with the clipless pedals I fell no less than four times. Only once while stopping though...at a fully loaded four way stop...and I fell into the parked car next to me. It's the nature of the beast. It'll happen sometimes.

It's Pieta by Michelangelo - I took that pic when I went to Italy last month for the marathon. One of my favorites.
