Eric, your bike is very cool looking; I wish Cervelo had kept that more simple paint scheme, as the newer ones are kind of ugly.

Out of curiosity, how tall are you and what size is your bike?

I'm 5'11" and it's a 54cm. I like the color and paint but man it's starting to look rough with sweat stains especially the 'white' Cervelo logo

Is this going to be followed by - Where do you keep your bike?  Do you lock your house at night?  What is your security code?  Would you press charges if someone 'borrowed' your bike?  LOL

Define long.

I'm jealous of you warm weather climate people. I don't plan on being able to ride outside for at least another 6-8 weeks.Cry

Maybe it's time for a new one?!  I have to agree with you that the old paint schemes are the best.

One more question:  is it at all twitchy on big downhills (40mph+)?  I like going fast on a bike when I have easy access to the brakes, but something I've been wondering about is what happens if you're in the aero position going 40ish and you need to slow down?  On my road bike you CANNOT take one hand off the bars at that speed, but I realize that tri bikes and road bikes handle differently.   Any insight on staying aero at high speed and control issues?

Question for the group:  What do you use to motivate yourself to go do a workout even when you really don't want to, be it your tired, the weather sucks, something is more interesting on TV, bright shinny object caught your attention?  Is it the same thiing all the time or do you have to keep coming up with new ways to motivate yourself?

I just do tri's for fun and I'm a MOP athlete so it's not like my placing is affected by missing a bike ride etc.  I frequently have to talk myself into getting out the door but, once I am out there I'm fine.  I actually really do like to bike, run, swim so once I am doing them I am fine.  But man, there are days I have like hour like conversations in my head explaining to myself why I should go do it.  Especially on those iffy weather days or days like today where I am slated for 1hr 10min on the drainer.

I always have to find something different to motivate me, but most of the time it is a few of the same things. I read other people's logs, (I often read yours and I'm amazed at your consistency), read race reports, and just look forward to the goals I have set and knowing that I can't reach them if I don't train. I also have some personal motivation that I draw on regarding my kids and the example I set for them.

I'm also a MOP (if I'm lucky) and in reality I only compete against myself (and Fattyfatfat), and I would be happy knowing that I gave it all I could, and I had a good race, but then the question is...... Did I give it all I could if I missed those swim, bikes, and runs?

I guess in the end, fear of failing motivates me.

My dad told me I was too old to start this.  Gets me out of bed almost every time.  I'm only 39.

Justin Wood is giving me hope I can do this at this age and I can get fast with time.  EvD speed is out of the question but I think I can get fast enough for 40-45 AGSmile

It's an 08, I really liked the yellow one actually that year but it was Ultegra components and wanted the Dura-ace.

Houstonrider - 2010-01-25 2:14 PM Evondo, very nice. I may actually wait on the P2C, since I would rather pay cash, and I told myself I would get a tri bike when I finish my first HIM (that will be in April). It's a great deal and I'm still on the fence. But I think I'm going to wait to after my HIM.

Mind over matter- you are better than I am - I would have pulled the trigga!

in re: to holding on to dear life on a downhill going 40+mph... keep holding on
to me would be how comfortable you feel to sit on the aero's going almost 50mph and not have your fingers on the brakes..
I would tuck in low and tight like the roadie tour racers holding on to the horns and the fingers on the "oh-$$it" position just in case

Not in my near future, bike isn't my limiter the 185lbs sitting on the seat is I was looking into upgrading last year but decided against it after my friend who is a bike mechanic said no carbon unless I wanted it as a race only bike cause I'd break it within a year. I'm not very gentle on my bike...
