Question of the week: Have you decided on races for the season? Reply to this email with your race schedule for the year. Let's see where everyone is going to be and when your going to be there. Maybe I'll spend my summer traveling around and cheering you on!! Trying to catch up on all the posts....it has been a while since I have been on...so I just gave up. Good luck to Julia and anyone else racing this weekend. I have nothing planned, I have moved so I am exploring my new outdoor playground (very large preserve near by), Hope to get a long run in today, one last one before my half mary next weekend. As far as the race season is concerned it is all very much up in the air. I am in the midst of some personal challenges so not sure what the season will hold for me. Staying on top of my training has been difficult, been traveling 30 minutes to my gym because I like the people there but I need to make the transition soon to someplace more convenient near where I now live (change is difficult). So for now my half mary next weekend, that is all that I have signed up for. I hope to do some of my other regular races, couple of sprints, oly...not sure my half IM is going to happen this year Hope everyone enjoys the weekend.

Maybe I'll spend my summer traveling around and cheering you on!! We're having a few days in a hotel on the Gold Coast. This is my recovery week but I'm getting a bit more recovery than planned due to rain, rain and more rain plus looking after the kids - my wife had to go back and work on Friday but is back again now... I just got the IM Athletes guide e-mailed to me, you know it's not your regular race when you read stuff like "crawling is only allowed in the finishers chute"!!! Good luck Julia! |

Let's see where everyone is going to be and when your going to be there. Maybe I'll spend my summer traveling around and cheering you on!! I've been really quiet lately so I'll jump in here .... no racing. My goals for this weekend are to ride my bike outside without it snowing or it being 34 degrees and raining (which is worse than snow in my opinion). My plan to accomplish this may require me to start kicking the crap out of Mother Nature, but I am open for suggestions here ....... I completely understand the Rule 5, Rule 9, HTFU, etc. but this has been a crazy spring up in Dairyland. We got 8 inches of snow in Green Bay last night? Global warming.... my A$$! Racing Season for me will once again peak around a 10 day stage race around SE Wisconsin at the end of June and then a full Cyclocross Season in Fall. Plans are also to travel to race in Madison, Louisville, and Iowa City this year for National Level Cross Races. I hope to qualify for Masters (think old, not good) CX Nationals again, it's in Boulder this year, but waiting to see what College Tuition bills look like with 2 in college later in the year. Volunteering at IM-Moo for the 5th year in a row and Minnow is desperately trying to convince me to stick around till Monday ..... finally. Good luck to all our Racers...... REPRESENT!!! Dino, you need to give yourself credit where it is due...you are an excellent tough and one #@%% of a rider! Your plan for the year is impressive! |

I'm racing! Not technically this weekend, but Monday, Patriots' Day, when I will celebrate our Revolutionary heroes by running 26.2 miles with a whole buncha other people in BOSTON! The training is in the bank, so this week I'm preparing by watching the Departed, reading Dennis Lehane novels, and listening the Dropkick Murphys turned up loud. I'm thinking I should find myself a tricorn hat for race day. Wonder if they have those at the Expo. Special wicking ones. This is going to be fun!!! Julia, I am so stoked for you! Boston is the best race and you will nail it and have a great time too!! |

He has been so supportive these last few years he deserves to have some fun and show off his awesome bike and swim skills! And he is also right, Mother Nature doesn't love the Badger State one bit. Blech! My race calendar still remains pretty fluid. The bolded things are for sure. As most of know, when the weather turns nice in WI, I don't leave! I didn't race much last year and plan to change that this year. 1. June 15: Horribly Hilly Hundred Bike Race 2. Some Oly in June (either Pleasant Prairie in IL or Verona WI Triterium) 3. July 13th Phillips Sprint Tri (near Minocqua) 4. August 10th Minocqua Oly Tri 5. September 8th IM WI 6. September 11th Two week Safari Adventure with the man! Suzy, after this full race schedule,#6 is going to be great!! I love that one! I have heard good things about Safari Adventure trips. |

Thanks, everybody! After getting in late last night, I had a great day hanging out with my running group and getting ready for tomorrow. We waited over 2 hours for a table for brunch, but I can tell you this breakfast burrito was worth it: Then it was off to packet pick-up, which was quick and easy. Spent a little time at the Expo, hit the Trader Joe's across the street for race-day breakfast and snack supplies, and went back to the hotel. Dinner was simple, but tasted awesome with this view from the hotel balcony: Early to bed tonight so I'll be rested for the early a.m. bus ride. The weather forecast couldn't be better. It will be a perfect day for a long run. I'm not bringing my phone along, so you probably won't hear from me until I'm on my way to the airport. Thank you for all the well wishes. I'll be thinking of you guys! |

Veteran 256 Madison,AL | Subject: RE: Swbkrun mentor group - Closed Today I Got an oppurtunity to train on the Oly course, I will be competing in May. The format was a little different bike run swim. I think the bike went very well 1:25 for 25 miles. Then onto the run. This was my first experience with running after riding and it was quite different. I pushed on and did 2/3 of the hilly run course. It seemed that every turn took you up a hill. I heard it was hilly but wasnt expecting that many hills. Then onto the ows (my first). It was maybe 60 degrees F and the water was 67 they said but it did not feel that way. I did one of the 4 laps and got out of the frigid water. What I learned from this experience. I feel most comfortable on the bike (even not super fast). Running after the bike is not going to feel like it does with fresh legs I need more swimming practice in the pool and ow.
I have a question for the group. I am doing a dualthon on Sat and am wondering how my training should be leading up to it? It is 2.5 for the runs and 13 for the bike. Any advice would be appreciative. Good luck tomorrow Julia |

Nothing you do this week will impact your fitness for your race next weekend. If you have a plan, stick to it. Otherwise, I would keep things short, practice transitions, including short runs off the bike. |
