If I were you I'd be very tempted to get the company's CEO's email from the Slowtwitch thread I mentioned before and email him about your issues. The worse that could happen is he'd say he couldn't do anything.Tri2Smile - 2013-04-25 5:04 PM NICE bike!! Super jealous. I have to call the LBS back cause he didn't call me (maybe Blue hasn't answered his e mail? Sounds like I am getting lousy customer service from BOTH the LBS and Blue.Pool heater was broken this morning so had an extra crisp swim..better cooler then warmer. So after getting my fit done about 2 months ago and taking some time to go over a few options, I pulled the trigger yesterday and came home with my first tri bike, last year's P3. Last week's release of the new P3 added a wrinkle but got a very good deal on the old P3. I plan to use this bike for many many years to come so happy with the decision. I used a new location of an established LBS near my home and quite pleased with my experience with them...plus the usual extra perks and free membership to their new tri club. Some recent threads here will def help as I will be putting in some aero time. First real ride will be Saturday..skipping the usual hills and going to spend some time with some flat loops breaking her in. Next tri is in 3 weeks so hoping I can use her then but will see how I feel then. I can't wait til Saturday ! Starting with the LBS, they are NOT communicating well. THEN I will hit Blue up if I need to. Seriously, the frame is probably $3000 and the LBS will make money off the sale / fitting. But if they're going to treat me this way I won't use them for any future servicing. There is another shop that handles tri bikes in the area--the one Kristin went to for a fitting. I'm admittedly very passive and a bit of a doormat when dealing with issues like this but I would be seeing red if I were you. I wouldn't hesitate to contact the CEO and pull your bike if no progress has been made. Admittedly, that's easy for me to say sitting hundreds of miles away. |

First sprint tri of the season...and hubby's first tri ever! I wasn't planning on it, but the more I think about it, the more I think I might take the tri-bike to the race. The weather is supposed to be good, it's only 12 miles, and there's only one real hill...might as well see what I can do, right?
I'd say go for it and enjoy the ride! Best of luck to both you and your hubby!! |

Expert 1067 Douglaston, NY | Subject: RE: Fred D and Queen Zipp's SWIM, BIKE RUN consistency thread.... CLOSED Tri2Smile - 2013-04-23 2:59 PM Hi everyone, I needed a few days to recover from my Ragnar Relay. I was not sure if living out of a van with 5 people for more than 30 hours straight and running my total of 12 miles would be fun, but it was definitely an experience to remember and worth repeating. Basically we had 2 vans carrying 12 runners with each person running 3 separate legs totaling 12-21 miles. I was in van 2 so my worst fears were confirmed since my first leg would be my longest at nearly 6 miles during the hottest part of the day...got to a heat index of 105...hot and hilly...and I def took a beating. Second leg was at 230am in the dark of night, but was short at 2 miles and change and it was nice and cool. Third and last leg was 4 miles at about 130pm the following day...steep decline to start and flat the rest of the way. Mostly at race pace and def felt it the next day. I didn't know any of my van members but what a great team we turned out to be. Well balanced with three strong young runners and the other 3 older folk including myself. We had great camaraderie and support throughout the race from checking up and handing out nutrition during one's legs, to taking turns driving and co-piloting and to trying find an indoor bathroom at 2 in the morning. Now imagine 700 vans trying to the same thing =) Long story short, we met up with the last runner with a quarter mile and ran to the finish line as a team. It was a pretty sweet feeling. I was definitely sore by then and only had 2 hours of sleep as the adrenalin kept me up...but I can now see how people keep coming back and get Ragnar addicted. Highly recommended. First pic: first major exchange (the next van of 6 runners takes over while the van who just ran gets a 3-5 hour break), Second pic: minor exchange, Third pic: major exchange at 130am and the party is just beginning, Fourth pic: my view after sleeping outside beachside, Fifth pic: post race meal of some kickass Mexican food =)
Sounds like a truly incredible experience - congratulations!!! |

Expert 1067 Douglaston, NY | Subject: RE: Fred D and Queen Zipp's SWIM, BIKE RUN consistency thread.... CLOSED So much to say and catch up on. I've been very busy with work over the past week because our gala that happens once every five years was last night so nothing has happened on the training front. I just came to the realization that before now I was hoping that something could be done about the varicose veins in my leg before I started consistently training again. Without consciously realizing it, the aching, hot, and swollen consequences of exercise have definitely been a disincentive. With word that my insurance requires a 90 day waiting period before I can have an ablation done, I don't want to wait that long to get moving and am going to try compression leggings to get me through in the meantime. I simply can't keep putting things off because i know how much better I feel when I train and I do miss the feeling of accomplishment after a race. At least my weight has held pretty steady this month. That is a step in the right direction on that front. |

Royal(PITA) 14270 West Chester, Ohio | Subject: RE: Fred D and Queen Zipp's SWIM, BIKE RUN consistency thread.... CLOSED I called Blue directly, the rep I just spoke to gave me some details. Evidently the company was sold in the past year as the former owners ran out of money. New owners are trying to get caught up on orders and generate some business. They currently do have about a 6-8 week back log on orders because of the above issues. My LBS does have an order with them for a small SL frame for me. The rep I spoke to said he would work with Carytown Bikes to get me a better deal on the frame for all my aggravation. SL frame lists around $4000, even with my "credit" that's a huge amount of money. so any price discounts he can get me will be appreciated. |

Congrats on the new bike, she's beautiful! Kristen, I would definitely ride your new bike this weekend. Judi, best of luck with Blue and getting a new frame. Their new bike is dead sexy! I know Rachel has a half marathon, and Kristen has a sprint this weekend. Is anyone else racing? Have a great weekend everybody! |

I just got an iPhone yesterday (yep...I held out against he smart phone for years), so I was playing with the map my ride app. Nice to not have to drive the route or google map it to see how far I went. It does kill my one great hope that I appear so slow on paper because the mapping program used 'as the crow flies' to measure distance, ignoring the hills. Damn...I'm just that slow. Something to work on. |

Feeling stronger on the bike but those false flats crush my soul. We're heading up to Lynchburg this afternoon to spend the rest of the weekend with the older daughter (her birthday is next week) Won't be around much. |

CLOSED I was planning on a ride early this morning but after having some friends over late last night, unable to find my new pedals for my new bike and unable to loosen one of the pedals on my road bike decided to sleep a bit more and reverse my weekend training plans...so will test out the new bike tomorrow but it was a perfect cool and overcast morning for a nice long run. Hope the racers this weekend had a great time and looking forward to hearing about them. Have a great weekend everyone !

Champion 6107 Out running or enjoying a fine glass of red... | Subject: RE: Fred D and Queen Zipp's SWIM, BIKE RUN consistency thread.... CLOSED Race. Done. The swim was an utter disaster, but the bike went well and I killed (for me) the run. Lots of work to do, but much potential seen. Not even MOTP finish, but I'm happy with myself. Will get a race report up later... |

Member 108 | Subject: RE: Fred D and Queen Zipp's SWIM, BIKE RUN consistency thread.... CLOSED So took the new bike for a few straight loops near my neighborhood. I was a bit cautious early on with my darth vader like grip and unclipping early before stoplights but started relaxing more as I go into the ride since there was not too much traffic. I could def feel the difference on the flats now. I tried out a few diff positions as far as getting low and lower but will def be riding the tri bike exclusively before my next race. The tips recently shared on this thread were a big help. Over time, I'll have to get used to the braking and turning with the aero bars. My neck felt a bit strained and some pressure on my arms but I just attribute that to me being new to riding aero...but overall felt pretty good. Like the bike ! Thinking about a split saddle in the short term and an aero helmet long term..any suggestions ? Looking at either the ISM prologue or podium and the Giro attack or the Rudy project... Tune up TI swim session later today...been almost 2 months so hope I didn't pick up any bad habits...but def getting more comfortable with my swim base =) Have a great Sunday ! |
