Master 3022 | Subject: RE: Ernesto's group (5th season) - Closed What's everyone's weekend plans? We have a birthday party for my 3 year old tomorrow. But plan on getting up early and hopefully swimming, followed by a solid workout on the drainer and an easy 6 on the dreadmill. Goal is to be done by 8am. Sunday is a 10 mile run and given the snow in the last 24 hours I suspect that it will be on the dreadmill again. |

Expert 1109 Guatemala | Subject: RE: Ernesto's group (5th season) - Closed Hope everyone in the Northeast is safe with the big snow storms in the forecast. I unfortunately got hit by severe cough/congestion yesterday after probably pushing myself too much in the last few days, so I took yesterday and today off to recover. On the positive side we got to meet with Chrissie and she is such an incredibly nice, down to earth person with really interesting life story. I hope I'm recovered to ride with her tomorrow morning. Have a great weekend everyone!

Sunday I was to swim but with my plantar fasciitis I am skipping my 1:55 run and going to ride 2 hours and swim an hour. Beyond that I will try to keep it on the down low and not do a whole lot other than hang out with the family. |

Tomorrow 3/4 kids are going further North to Ski 1 is working. I will do a brick tomorrow long bike on the trainer and the deadmill. Sunday, I hope to get a bike session in. But with church, and my son has 2 basketball games, so it might be tight. Mostly I want to keep the house clean and quite, so my wife can rest. Extreme Veteran 576 | Subject: RE: Ernesto's group (5th season) - Closed Long hill ride this morning. It hurt and was hard. (675m or 2200 feet) The good part was the down hill section. Its the part where the TT bike is the fastest so i can fly past all the other guys that beat me to the top of the hill. Nothing else on this weekend. Happy with the past week. A few good sessions and starting to feel strong again. Mitch - Swim - 1 / Bike - 6 / Run - 7 / Rest - 1 / Total 14 / Time - 11:15:27 Edited by Matthews 2013-02-08 8:06 PM |

Easy weekend this weekend. No races. Although my two daughter, wife and myself are heading up to Sydney for the Color Run. Just a bit a fun, 5k and lots of color dust etc. Should be interesting. |

That was just a Warmup. I then strapped on my winter gear and shoveled 4 inches of snow for 30 minutes. Avg. HR 155, Max 165. Neighbor confused why I wouldn't use my snow thrower - told him I was just getting an extra workout in.
Did the same workout yesterday x 3 ( less the drainer) Shoveled out my driveway then the MIL's then her sister's. 3.5 hours moving 8+ inches of snow. Great exercise but no SBR so technically a "rest" day? Told you you'd jump ahead before too long...lol. Group swim this afternoon (3000 m) followed by group session (1hr?) on the spin bikes. Will update the chart when I know all the details. |

Expert 1255 Philadelphia, Pennsylvania | Subject: Massage Recommendations When is the best time to get your pre-marathon massages? I would like to get two. I haven't had any during my marathon training. I'm 15 days out. I'm a little afraid to get one today because my run tomorrow is 12 miles and I don't want to be sore. My plan is now giving me two days off a week, so I was thinking of doing one after my run on the day before my day off. I'm thinking the other one should probably be sometime during race week. Jackie, your plan actually sounds pretty good. The massage should be early in the week of your race though to give you plenty of time to flush out any toxins that are released during the massage. Remember to keep pushing those fluids so you are fully hydrated. |

Master 2238 Dallas | Subject: RE: Massage Recommendations jackiep - 2013-02-09 12:03 PM A deep tissue is a good thing if done far enough from race day, a week prior is ideal. If you do it too close you will feel like $#!+ because of all the metabolites in your bloodstream (released by the deep tissue). Do it one week before, right after your longish run, you will feel VERY sluggish, unmotivated and tired for a couple of days. DON'T DESPAIR, you're right on track for an awesome race, because the hay is in the barn already. When is the best time to get your pre-marathon massages? I would like to get two. Also, taper week should be exactly that, you've already acquired the fitness, now you need to peak on rest to be on the very top of fitness and energy levels on race day. |
