On a different note, the custom T-Shirts for my Mom, Dad, Wife and Daughter are complete.  If you see these shirts down there, you will know who my support crew is.

Thanks for all your words of encouragement and hope - it really helps to know there are so many people who understand what Im feeling.....Right now,I am madly in love with Dr. #2, who has given me (preliminarily) the OK to race He's a sports dr. specializing in podiatry and he made time to squeeze me in w/ his crazy schedule due to the NYC Marathon on Sunday...he treats all the pros and elites.  He seems to think it's a bad case of tendonitis, not a stress fracture. I got some cortisone shots and as long as the MRI comes out clear, I'm goin to PCB!

!!YES, YES, YES!!!!! It's funny how emotional you can get interacting with people you have never met over a message board. That news just gave me a huge shot of adrenaline. I am sooooo happy for you. I guess I am aware of the sacrifices you have made to get where you are so I can empathize. Kristin, that is awesome and no matter what happens in your race you have already won a HUGE battle.

YAY......I think docs who don't do this stuff sometimes don't get it.  Ice lots, use your boot to rest it  DON'T RUN.

Great attitude and I'll say a prayer that this turns out to be the correct diagnosis! Stay off the foot, ice, relax, wear the boot and practice positive thinking. Make that foot heal!! See ya in PCB.

Kristen-  I'm so glad that you may be able to come to IMFL. Hang in there. Take care of yourself. After sucking it up for the 6 hour trainer ride you deserve to come to IMFL. Praying for a speedy and full recovery.

DNS. Stress fracture in my right foot. No weight for 4-6 weeks. Dr. was being "nice" to give me a removable knee to foot boot instead of regular cast so I can shower. No words to say right now. Everyone stay healthy and focused!!! You're almost there

So glad you got the second opinion and praying that you will be able to race...after your 6 hour trainer session..I can't think of anyone who deserves to run this race more than you darlin..hang in there!!

Hey crew- #83.  I'll take an 11 hour first IM any day if our times are the sum of our #'s.

After some uncertainty (no physical ailment/injury) about whether I was going to be able to join you on race day (see my log for details--don't want to be a downer in this thread), I think I have some plans of actions to get me there. It might end up being a little whirlwind too and from, but I think I have thankfully figured it out.

So glad you're coming, Kristin!

Only 3 more work days until I can take some leave and hide out in my house/hotel room and not get sick! Last IM I felt a tickle in my throat before the race, but somehow managed to hold off the full-blown cold until the day after the race. Yesterday and the day before, I was stuck in a small room, working the Ares launch...the guy who sat behind me was coughing the whole time! It sounds bad, but I really hope it's just because he's an overweight smoker or something!

irondreams - 2009-10-28 8:24 PM Awesome!  Where did you have them made?

I had the local t-shirt company make them for me. I found the Tri-graphic online.  I just printed ot what I wanted and they took it from there.  Surprised he was able to get the graphic from my printout.
