dalessit - 2011-01-14 2:40 PM Tracy I found a race for Doug and I to meet up at next year it's in Philly.

This one is more highlights but check out 30ish seconds in.

Amazing grab by that guy falling off the scaffold!  Don't know if you could really "race" that course. Wiping out would really be bad.  Interesting idea.

WOW!!!! Gonna be 70's in Arizona today. The sun is fabulous. Haven't seen it in ages!!

Here and doing well, but with some life interference. Yesterday Dad called before I went to the airport to tell me his pacemaker/defib alarm was going off and he had a doc appt. to check it and he'd see me at the airport. When we landed I had a text from my mother-in-law telling me Dad was having surgery and she was picking me up. Ack!!! Turns out Dad has a lead that is fractured that needs repair -- including removing some embedded wires from his heart. They are giving him a whole new unit. Seemingly minor but always risks, as he also has an artificial mitral valve as well. Well $#*$!!! But yay, I'm here!!! He wasn't able to have surgery on Friday due to his INR levels being too high (coumadin), so he's scheduled for Monday, but he has to be monitored all weekend because they have disconnected his pacemaker/defib. He's well, up and about, in good spirits, etc.

So we came to the hospital last night, then spent the night with Mom at her house about an hour away. Back at the hospital now, doing expo w/bro-in-law in a couple of hours. I was to fly home Sunday post-race but am now staying until Tuesday afternoon so I'll be here to support Mom for surgery. It all works out and everything does seem to happen for a reason, huh? Props to hubby who is home as a single dad and has change his biz trip scheduled for next week.

I have a few race distractions, obviously, maybe it's all for the best! Will run the race as planned (Dad would not think of me not running) -- Dad's just bummed he won't be there to cheer us on, sweet guy. My best friend is here too, and she's like family to me, plus my mom-in-law and bro-in-law (and family) are all close, so we have lots of places to stay, lots of cars, and lots of support. It's all good!

Good luck to Glen and have a great weekend, peeps!!

Kayla,  Have a great race and I'll send an extra prayer for dad that everything goes well.

Trevor...DANG!

fowlmood- Don't ever go to a LBS or other athletic store thinking your going to drop less than $50 bucks.  It doesn't happen.

John-  Happy Bday again.  What did you do?

Hope everyone is having a great weekend.

You're strong Kyla.  You can handle the family concerns AND have a great race.  Remember the strategy you and Lowell pulled together and run like the wind!

Good luck to you Glenn.....

As always report back asap.  We'll be waiting for details.

Kyla:

Pace makers need to be replaced periodically. My Dad has one. The docs are real good at these procedures. I am sure your Dad is in good hands and will come through this fine.

2 workouts in the books since flu/marathon.  Yeah back on track and hopefully gearing up for my March race soon.

Good luck Glen and Kyla!  Kick butt, run fast and have fun!

Working on my race reports and had to laugh at some of the pics from our trip.  Since my daughter was sick on Tues. and missed our lunch at Cinderella's Castle w/ the princesses, the princesses were subjected to pictures w/ my son.  He had been to the Pirate's League for a full pirate makeover.  He looked possessed.

MISSED YOU GUYS LAST WEEK!

Was in Orlando at the home builders show.  Attendance was waaay down, but a productive week for me.

Did not do much in the way of training, as standing in our booth for 8+ hrs a day on top of going out with customers for the evenings made for some looong days.  I did manage to get out one morning for a 4 miler.

I remember a conversation we had here a few weeks back when someone was asking what to wear under running tights (for men).  Well, I forgot my jock strap and decide to go commando as someone had recommended.  Really didn't think anything about it until I got back.  I guess the seam down the front of my tights would have made a great cheese grater.  Put me out of commission for a couple of days.

HAPPY BE_LATED BIRTHDAY FATTY

Not sure if that is how you spell belated.

Hopefully will be able to get a good day's training in tomorrow and get caught up.
