But my limbo height was 31.5 inches. That's 80 cm metric ladies Oh! And I got fiddy bucks to Saltys (restaurant) how appropriate!! |

Master 3870 | Subject: RE: Mad Manatee Mentors 2013: CLOSED (exc/ Pop Tart bribes) I had OWS "take #2" this morning. IT. WAS. GREAT! We are still waiting for them to post results (yeah, kinda irritated cuz I want to know NOW!!!!), but I know I was faster than I was in my pool sprint in November. I also was cool, calm and collected for the whole 400m (hehehe). Several fast guys swam over me and I didn't panic. I just regrouped and kept swimming Sooooo different from two weeks ago! Race started 45min late so everything was thrown a little wonky...calories, water, heat, and last 2mi of run I had to pee like a mofo, but no potty stops Pretty happy with my performance overall. Even had a guy on the bike tell me "You're good." I said "Thanks!" as I passed him. lol |

No joke, I was kinda alone for a stretch of the path and I considered letting it flow...but didn't think they would let me jump back in the lake after I was done. And riding in the car for an hour in pee shorts didn't sound fun. |

Master 2770 Central Kansas | Subject: RE: Mad Manatee Mentors 2013: CLOSED (exc/ Pop Tart bribes) I survived. Swim cancelled. (lightning) Bike Sucky (wet, hilly, windy, poor fitness, dropped chain in the last couple miles) Run Fantastic -- hit my goal pace. (9:40/mile) Lots of storms yesterday and today, so it was a bit tense. Ben (12 year old) was freaking out on the way home. We were trying to get out of Eastern Kansas as quickly as possible. The sky was scary. The winds were so horrible last night, that our little Kamping Kabin was literally creaking -- reports were of 70 mph winds. It was severe, even if it wasn't 70 mph. I don't know what the winds were on the course today, but I was blown all over the place. I'm guessing 20+ Anyway, I'm disappointed that we didn't swim, but it was the right decision. It was a crazy Kansas spring day -- cold, rainy, and stormy in the morning -- many of us started the bike freezing and shivering. Near 80s, sunny, and blistering on the run. Oh, and for anyone keeping track. I peed on the bike AND on the run (because I was chasing that one hour 10k). Then when I got back to the KOA, the boys were swimming in the camp lake, so I swam with them for a few minutes and peed in the water. LOL As I told Ben on the way home, "All the cool triathletes are doing it." |

Congratulations on your podiums Salty. Well done Erin on the swim, you're gonna have to give me some pointers. That goes for you also Kate. That weather sounded like it sucked Felicia. hate to rub it in but I had glorious weather for my tri :P (Sorry, good weather is rare in Wales). Nice going TJ, did you sort the aero bottle issue out? I was soooo pulling the Mana-Tea face when getting in the water for the 1st time in a wetsuit today, gives you a nice warm feeling. My RR: http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp... Thanks to everyone that sent inspires for me. Much appreciated. Master 3870 | Subject: RE: Mad Manatee Mentors 2013: CLOSED (exc/ Pop Tart bribes) Well, here's what the race director posted to explain the start delay. There's some stress for you... At 11am on Friday, May 17 I received a call from the City of Tempe asking if we had heard the Highway Tech had declared bankruptcy and let go of it all it employees. By noon we had confirmed that information. As of Noon on May 17 we did not have a traffic control company and did not have a race. It should also be noted that we were not the only event to suffer. For example, Ironman Texas was left unable to cone 112 miles of roads. |
