My new bike is assembled!  Bike porn to follow.

My LBS charged me all of $50 to put EVERYTHING together, and changed tire sizes, cut off seat tube, etc, which I thought was extremely good deal, so I wanted to pay him $75 to "fit" me.

We did lots of little changes and I am fairly comfortable, but the thing that is bothering me, is that I feel like the saddle is pretty shallow...the rails are in the rear set of bolts.  I am thinking that the primary reason for a tri bike is to get a little steeper and open the hip angle so that it is not constricting.

I feel like I have room to move forward.  Should I decide how steep I want to ride and then set everything else by that standard?  Is there an optimal angle? Assuming that I have the room to lower and move cockpit out...and I do.

I rode  a  couple of miles today, and I think it is going to be SWEET.  Bike porn tomorrow, but a little foreplay first (I don't understand that concept, but that is what I have always been told)

Very cool.

Post pics wearing race clothes and we'll make fun of the background but also provide any feedback that might help.

I'm racing although I'm not too sure how fired up I am.  It is butt a$s cold here.  It's going to warm up to 40 this weekend but rain.  Whoopie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I discovered this past fall that I LOVE my Zoots.  Even though they are expensive as hell and a pain in the rear to find especially in my size.  I love them.  I've even tried to look into some other minimalist shoes like the Kinvara's but I came back to my Zoots.

Finally, my very own BIKE PORN.

Got on the trainer this morning and moved LOTS of stuff around.  Moved my seat forward a bit which made a big difference.  Probably will be able to take a spacer or 2 out after a week or so.

No racing for me this weekend, but I finally posted my RR from last weekend. It includes a testimonial for my latest gadget: YakTrax! I should add that it was pretty risky to try something new on my feet in a marathon, but once I was off the gravel road I hardly noticed they were there - except when everyone around me was slipping and I was not.

My old pair are the Women's Zoot Ultra TT 2.0 but I trying the Women's Zoot Ali'i 3.0 now.  They are hard to find even online so that is kind of a pain.  But the brand in general seems to fit my foot well - feels like a glove (or sock Tongue out)!

The Goofy medals at the Vegas expo were cool!

Almost as cool as Mebs Olympic silver medal.  His medal for winning NYC was the size of a small dinner plate.  (man,  i look like a total slob)

No new gadgets, But I'm praying that my mom comes through with new racing wheels!! :-)
No racing, HOWEVER, there's a chance that I'll do 1 or 2 NYC 5k races while I'm out in the East Coast...now that'll be FUN!! 5k will be NOTHING compared to the half that I did!

Here's a recipe that I really enjoy as a nice family meal.  I call it: Chicken Roll ups

Ingredients:
THIN chicken breasts (this is very important because if the breasts are too thick, it won't roll up well).  I use Perude 99% fat free Thin chicken Breasts. I assume this can be substituted for any type of protein that is thin.
Can of diced tomatoes.
Whole Milk Mozzarella cheese (not shredded - sliced) - if you rather skim or half, go ahead. I personally don't like them as they don't melt as well.
Chicken Stuffing

The amount above is dependent on the number of chicken breasts. I usually make 4 or 6 since it's only my finance and I.

Preheat oven to 375
Cook up the stuffing
Slice up the Mozzarella

In a glass pan, pour a small amount of diced tomatoes so the bottom of the pan is covered with sauce. (to avoid burning on the bottom of the chicken)
After the stuffing is done, take one chicken breast, put heaping spoonful of stuffing on one end of it and roll it up, like you would with a wrap. Take two toothpicks to hold in the ends.  Be sure to tell your guests or SO that there's TWO toothpicks!
Put them in the pan. After all the chicken breasts are used up1, put the slices of the cheese on top of the chicken, through the toothpicks. Kind of like skewering the cheese.
After all the chicken is done,  pour the remaining diced tomatoes on top of the chicken/cheese.
Bake for about 40-45 minutes until cheese is melted, chicken is cooked.

Enjoy the yummy Chicken Roll Ups!  If you're watching your weight, you can forgo the cheese, but it doesn't taste the same without it!!

It's really good!

No racing for me.  However, I got my first real "run" this winter on the treadmill because it was minus 10 this morning at 4:45am when I out up to run.  And I was worried that I might freeze my "large fat laden" bum off outside....(just for you Suzy!!)
Is it just me or does everybody's stride always feel different on the treadmill?????  Hate it!

The one thing that I discovered that I simply love is the "Endurance Nation" training philosophy. Easily classified as the best value of any money I have spent on triathlon.  (Don't let the Mistress know, she would be really sad even though I do love her also!)  The Out-season plan has entirely changed my outlook towards and purpose of every workout without feeling any burn out.  Even at minus 10 and having to run on the dreadmill, I looked forward to the run!  I mean, this is still supposed to FUN...right??

I got the Zoot compression socks that were on sale on Thanksgiving weekend just in time for Vegas.  Wore them post race and they are magical!!!  Kyla is right, I was reporting no soreness, but I think it was because of the socks!!!  That, and maybe my improved running gait with my Kinvara's (pictured below are the two pair I scored at the show, discounted and free shipping, I could not pass it up!)  Last year after long runs or races, my quads, calves, heels, ankles all screamed ow for 2-3 days.

John and Kyla, I'm not sure if I could have found that extra 1:14 on Sunday to podium, but I was definitely happy with my effort.  Yes, the pictures are up and yes, they are horrible!  (well...most of them).  Only one looked like I was about to heel strike and that was right at the finish.  There was a lot of grimacing going on!

So, as I promised, there is a picture of Kelly's lunch at Hash House a Go Go, another one of the lunch Michelle and I shared, a few of the tall guys (John usually had that beer in tow)...and one of Kathy and me at the M & M store taken on Monday.  Sorry I missed the mechanical bull but I heard John had an incresting experience up there.  In fact, it sounds like there was a whole lot of fun on Sunday night!  Maybe if we are lucky, Trevor will post that one.

Trevor and I had lots of fun at the craps table...he got to see me do "my dance" more than once.

We missed all of you who couldn't be there!

tahrens - 2010-12-07 9:55 AM I didn't want to rain on the Vegas good times last week but I've got some rotten personal news.  Remember my giving thanks for surviving the economic down turn over Thanksgiving? Well I spoke too soon.  Last Thursday I was informed my position has been "reorganized" and we all know what that means.   In a very short time Tracy will be out of a job!!  Our first choice is to stay in the area but we are exploring all options.  Eugene Oregon,  Fredrick MD and Madison WI are all on the short list.  Who knows, I might be racing with Steve, Kyle, and Ryan; or Tony, Sam and Linda; or Suzy and Dave next year.  Hey Rob, need an assistant? Cry

Very sorry to hear about the reorganization but as I well know $!@& happens. Yes I could use an assistant if you can work for free and pay me equipment rental At least your spouse is willing to look at moving out of your current area. Keep a smile on your face.  Somehow it will work out.

How did I miss this?  So sorry, Tracy.  I'd say come out to SF, but it's way too expensive out here! Things do have a way of working themselves out, but it sure sucks, especially coming near the holidays.  Take care.

I'm racing...

From one activity to the next.  'Tis the season, fa la la la la!! But nah, no races requiring my athletic prowess (other than the patience endurance required to make teacher's gifts with my kids).

I think my favorite new purchase of late are my Brooks Launch shoes. I actually purchased two new pairs of running shoes that deviated substantially from my other shoes (Pearl Izumi Synchro Fuels are others -- loving those, too). The Launch are much lighter than any shoe I've ever had. I reserve them for tempo runs only and ran in them for my half marathon. I think it was the first race in forever that I didn't have any blisters. Go figure! Sadly they're really not made for long LONG training, so I don't plan to do any 20+ mile training runs in them, but I would consider running a marathon in them.
