ohhhhh that will be fun! Of course, you know you are going to catch IM fever, right?

Yes, and I am hoping I do not do something crazy and sign up for 2013...Sealed

You know this is where it all begins....it's what happened to me!  Ok - T1 is awesome because so many triathletes really struggle with the swim and they are so relieved (you get to strip the wettie off unfortunately they only assign females to females, males to males )

I did Special Needs Bike Aid Station - fast and furious but I got to hand Crowie his bag and he won the race and I like to think without me doing that, he would not have!

The other good one to do is Catching on the finish line.  In fact if you're up for a long day you can do T1 and Catcher!

Then sign yourself up for 2013 - you know you want to.

That's not why I signed up to volunteer.  Really.  No, I mean it.  Innocent

Nice one Kirsten. Lovely, selfless thing to volunteer so that others can benefit.

My money is with Jo's though. Guess i'll be tuning into the ironman channel for IM Canada in 2013.

I think everyone's money is with Jo's!  Yay, we will have a Manatee's reunion on IM Canada day 2013.  You know we will all be tuning in.  This forum will have to be dusted off and brought out of the archives that day.

Kirsten, you will love volunteering. I have had many, many friends volunteer for IM's.  I, myself, have surpressed that desire as I know I don't have time to train for an IM.   Not saying that every volunteer signs up, but why not, you are right there and can.

In honor of signing up for a tri, I swam last night.  Only 500m (that is the length of the swim at the tri) but I didn't drown and actually PR'd my time.  Of course it was in a pool so that time is insignificant but I didn't have to be pulled off the bottom so that is a good thing.

I have to add that I had intentions of biking but it was 98 degrees at 7pm so I chose not to make myself sick and never want to bike again.  I tend to do that.  I don't bike and then my 1st trainer ride I'll go 3 hours and feel so  sick after that I don't ever want to bike again.  I didn't want that sick feeling my 1st time back on the bike so I will bike tonight.  It is in my car and I am meeting some peeps for a shady, hilly ride tonight.

My rant of the day:  I took my dog's in for their yearly check ups and shots. $408 for 2 dogs!!!! Nothing special just routine shots.  I didn't even allow blood work.  Seriously, frickin' expensive.  No wonder people don't take their animals to the vets for well checks.

Great Job on the Swim!!  PR first time back out is always a plus, means you forgot the bad habits you had I think.  I hear you on the heat upper 90's here today so not sure if my ride will happen either.

Suggestion for you on the bike tune up, if you have a smart phone there is an app called bike repair, it's very easy and walks you through how to do most basic maintenance with pictures and videos it is helpful to me at least.

I've been fighting the 'Meh' bug as well and haven't done any training in almost a week going to get a swim in today and maybe a bike...  Hopefully.

Yeah, I'm always hoping not to do crazy stuff like that.

The result is always the same as when I say "I'll never do ______ " ... it becomes my destiny!

reecealan - 2012-06-20 2:24 PM It's time for some BAD-AZZ peanut butter and jam Sam, I have been cleared for take-off!  Who-Hoo!  There's an easy 18 mile group ride that starts 5 minutes from my house this evening, that'll be a nice start.  A few of my masters swim buds will be there that I haven't seen for weeks.  Now I can lose some of this weight I've gained over the last 6 weeks.

Is your BAD-AZZ self cleared for lunch with a certain medical person too?

Wussed out......relationship too complicated right now anyhow (training's great for coping by the way).  I do have a follow up in 4 weeks however

YOU'RE SINGLE??? How come nobody ever told me this? Did I just not read your bio carefully enough? Well, hellooooo there. How you doin'? Come here often?

So happy to hear you are all systems go now!

Sooooo ... (hoping Salty and Janyne and others don't see this 'cause it's in small print, because they will spank me)

It's Bali Triathlon weekend and the three days of festivities start early tomorrow morning!

Of COURSE I'm doing it. However, I'm doing the Sprint course and the whole thing (except the swim ... maybe) will be done at walk-through pace. It's my intro back into training so it needs to be fun and light.

Woo hoo!  That should be fun!  I've heard only positive things about the race organizers.  I mean, even when things go wrong, they seem to go out of the way to make things right for the pariticpants.

Are you going to get in line for 2013 registration?

Just had a nice ride in the beautiful weather we got for the first day of summer.  Just 20km, but a couple good hills in there.  Practiced getting my rear wheel off and on when I got home.  Figured out the trick to make it easy--lay the chain on the smallest cog and it just falls right into the dropouts.  Just have to remember that...

How's the bike fit?

What could possibly go wrong?

I'm considering it a mental health weekend and a "fun tour" of my neighborhood (where the Bali Tri is held).

Pretty good.  Feet no longer go numb.  Left leg feels more correct.  Only issue I am having is burning/soreness between shoulder blades--not sure if because of fit or because my bars are too wide.  Thoughts?

Well, I wonder if that is part of the problem too.  I wear glasses (contacts and me are NOT friends), so I end up holding my head too high I think.  I am trying to focus on keeping my head down and looking over my glasses--my Rx is not super strong, so I can see still, just not all crisp and clear.  I think I need to look into getting some of those sport glasses/goggles.

Yes, road, no aero bars.  Soreness when hands are on hoods or drops.

It could be one of several things:

- Are you riding with light hands or with your hands heavy on the bars?  Try riding with little weight on the bars, using the bars for steering rather than support.  Think about using your core to keep yourself upright.

- Acclimation -- just getting the miles in.  You know -- T.I.T.S.

- It could still be a fit issue but I think that I'd get a few more miles in before heading back.  (depending on the level of discomfort.  I am assuming that this is more of an aching than an ouch ouch ouch outright pain)

Thanks, Janyne.  I had a problem when I first started riding (pre-fit) where my hands would go numb.  Over time learned to put more weight on my saddle and numbness went away.  I think I am now putting more weight on my hands because the bars were lowered.  Hands don't go numb, just the shoulder soreness (and yes, ache not ouch).  And, yes, I have only gotten in about 5-6 short-ish rides since the fit, so will get some more in before making a decision.

Oh, Yanti, you are trouble.

I'm insulted!

Surely I'm even more trouble than that?
