bcraht - 2012-10-08 3:45 PM Just put my Thanksgiving turkey in the oven.  Homemade stuffing and rolls, my mom's pumpkin pie...mmmmmmmmmmm.   There will be 9 of us for dinner--I really appreciate that my family all lives close enough for us to get together for holidays.

Ooooh I forgot!! It's funny, I just love Thanksgiving and I usually always remember Canadian Thanksgiving but I forgot! Happy Thanksgiving!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks!  It's really early this year, so you are forgiven for forgetting.  Not to mention it is usually raining and grey by this time of the year...

Does this interest you?  I will be in Auburn that weekend...

http://magnusonseries.org/ The Halloween Race is also happening this day if you are interested in something a little more race-like. This is the series I raced the 10K in a few weeks ago. They are very small events, no frills and cheap (we're talkin' under 20 bucks.) They have a 5,10 and 15K available. This was the one I was thinking of dressing up for if I did it.

But if you are really attached to the zombie race, I've got an open mind.

TriAya - 2012-10-08 4:01 PM Hi. Don't kill me. I went back to working out today and (much, so I am SURE IT'S NOT RELATED!!!) later developed excruciating sharp stabbing pains in my abdomen, so Jim took me to the ER at 2:30am. They don't know what's wrong but I am happily full of painkillers and have an ultrasound scheduled for tomorrow, uh, that's today.

Dang it!! I hope they figure it out quickly. Good thing Jim was there.

I am sick. Again. Not Yanti-sick, thankfully, but annoying sick, nonetheless (just a cold). I was thinking about running or jumping on the trainer today, but I decided that little could be gained. I'm going to give myself a two day rest. That hardly ever happens! Oh, well.

I completed the paperwork the dean wanted; sent it to her on Saturday. This morning she emailed me to say that everything looked good, so she sent my material on to the Dean. Yippee!

Hmmm, that sounds fun too--except I don't know that I could get from Auburn to Seattle in the AM.  Transit would have me on a 2+ hour trip.  We are at an agility trial that is over by mid aft so will be able to drive up to Sea after.

Sorry you're sick - winter time sucks for that!  A two day rest will be lovely - I just had 4 days!  was a bit crazy by the end and ran today - 6.61km in 46.18mins last time I did that distance I did it with sprint intervals and did it in 45.45 so not much difference and i got caught at the traffic lights to cross the street!

Fingers crossed the Dean finds your paperwork squeaky clean!

Hey Manatee piglets! Excellent news. It's "just" a kidney stone and infection (have significant blood in the urine and white blood cells are elevated). It's all a matter of perspective, right? Whodathunk I'd be thrilled to have a kidney stone? Well, compared to all the crap it could have been or that I've been through, this is just fine.

Yes, I'm in ridiculous pain, but it's just pain, and physical pain is the easiest kind to bear.

I'm a little chagrined that I always seem to be a walking disaster, and this is my third round of antibiotics in 40 days (and it's a fluoroquinolone dum ba DUM creepy organ music meaning the kind that can suddenly for no reason cause soft tissue rupture even up to 6-12 mos or longer after taking it).

Oh well. It really is only a kidney stone and relatively minor infection. Thank God. Thank you all for your kind words and prayers.

Many years ago DH had a kidney stone - agony.  He eventually passed it and the doctor said it's the closest thing a man can experience to childbirth - it's a stone right - not a 9lb person.....ha!

Hope you feel better, - watermelon is supposed to be good....

Good day all, I hope that your weekends were fun, productive, or whatever you needed. We are getting ready for the youngest to head off on her new job. Tomorrow is the day we head to Orlando to drop her off. Then Saturday she is on the ship and gone for 4+ months. I have been reading a bit this morning:

Felicia - Since I choose to think about the positive in life I am really excited about your job prospects! It sounds as though you are moving forward, and that is all we can ask. Great News! I do hope you get to feeling bette soon.

Yanti - Good Golly, what else can possibly happen?!? You remain in my prayers, I truly hope that all flows as it should and you put this behind you.

Jo - I'm glad you were able to get out and run. It always helps my mood when I'm done with it.

Kirsten - Your Thanksgiving dinner sounds awesome. I love pumpkin pie, do you have any leftovers?

Everyone that raced - I hope you had an awesome experience!

I am off to read race reports. I leave you with this - "Never get bored or cynical. Yesterday is a thing of the past." - Walt Disney

Yanti, glad it is not something *more* serious... Have you considered seeing an immunologist?  I realize the kidney stone may have nothing to do with your immune system, but perhaps he/she could help with the other immune-related issues you have been having?

We have a fluoroq that we use in animals--it is called Baytril.  Also known as Bay-thrill because when humans take it, it apparently causes amazing hallucinations!  Hopefully the human ones don't do that....

So I am doing this 10km night run with my nephew this weekend.  When I first asked him if he wanted to do it with me, I figured we would do the 5km (he is 9 years old).  Nope, he wanted to do the 10k.  So I said fine, but he had to train.  He does cross country with school, but I think that is only a couple km.  Well, in order to train, Mommy would have to run with him, as he is too young to run alone.  So last night at dinner my SIL asked if it would be ok if she ran the race with us!  (She really doesn't like running, so this is quite a big deal!).  So now, we will all 3 be out there with our glow in the dark shirts and head lamps!  I am so excited

That is awesome!!! I just LOVE when you can get a non-runner out there! Not to mention the whole head lamp/glow in the dark shirt thing is such a great way to get non-runners excited about running. Fantastic!

I forgot to put this in my RR but after I did the cupcake hand-off and the beer station stop I was walking back to the finish area and an older guy running the full marathon pulled up beside me and asked if he could walk with me.

He was really bummed because he had to walk the last 3 or so miles and was hoping to PR that race but his legs were just telling him no.

We probably walked for about a mile and he was telling me about all his racing and training. He does 6-10 marathons a year and his longest long run in training is 32 miles! Surprised

I didn't really think it was my place to point out that perhaps maybe that was why he was walking. I was shocked, confused and impressed all at once lol.
