Nice ride Fred!

I just got back from my ride 60 miles 5000 ft of climbing.  It was sure windy the last 20 miles.

Nope I am not so much star struck.  I don’t even know a lot of the pros.

But I have some local friends and Bob (aka rscheung) racing in Vegas so I’ll be routing for them.

Hey Fred, mind if I kick it around here?  I've been around a couple years and don't really get much use out of the main forums anymore.  Mostly here for the logs and a handful of people I follow and in the Strava group.

For the group members, I started training 3-4 years ago I guess it was.  Was getting fat.  Lost about 40lbs.  Did a few HIMs and my first Ironman last year up at Placid.  Sort of took this year "off" from racing but still trained fairly consistently.  I'm looking to get back for next year on 2 70.3s and then a 140.6 in 2014 with a group of people from my area.  Last year I overcooked it and think doing a 70.3 too hard too close to Placid was a little too much for me.  I lost my edge and sort of never got it back.  Would like to drop 10lbs now that summers over and maybe do a couple of run races (did Philly marathon last fall as a focused run block and saw some improvement) and keep the bike going....

In triathlon related news, I did a local sprint relay today.  I rode the bike.  We won and I got a cool duffle bag   Pretty sure I had the fastest bike split.

tasr - 2012-09-08 8:55 AM I don’t share a lot.  Especially thing that show I am human and not a machine.  Maybe I just think they would be boring........but here it goes.

So this past Tuesday night at 10 pm I laid down to go to sleep and quickly a pain developed in my right ankle.  Sort of top front below the ankle bone/joint 1” deep.  I laid there for about an hour then decided to take an aspirin.  This would be my first aspirin or any pill in over 4 months.  No effect, so I thought I would ice it, again another hour with ice maybe more.  Man I was dead tired.  I finally fell asleep about 3am.  I woke up still in pain.  Got up a limped around got ready for work and then the  more I moved the more it felt better.  By the end of the day on Wednesday I had my training done and no pain in the right ankle.  So weird!

YOU'RE HUMAN?!?!

Glad that went away quickly. Ouch.

Fred D - 2012-09-08 10:37 PM Rode for 90' this am, felt good but hr is still high from sinus infection. I am a really big fan of Michael Raelert and hope he kills it in Vegas this weekend. Anybody else care or have a favorite?

Aw Fredpiglet ... you had a sinus infex too? Yuck. Fortunately I seem to be over mine (+ear and throat) but I'm still pretty tired.

No faves in Vegas but closely watching Joerg Scharf, a guy I coach in swimming (hoping to qual for Kona at IM S. Africa in April). I told him if he doesn't go sub-30 don't bother coming back to Bali Tongue out. His 400m TT time was 7:20 when we started working together just a few months ago, so we'll see.

Hi Jay! Good to see you here. Congrats on the OA relay and smokin' bike split.

I'd like to see Raelert and Crowie have a good battle.  I always root for Potts as a swimmer too but I don't think he really has much of a chance.

Fred D - 2012-09-08 4:46 PM Ok, no one tell my wife, but I was looking very closely at a specialized Shiv S-works module this afternoon. Killer deal I can get on it, absolutely killer. How to soften up the wife? Hmmmmm, I need to think, and keep your minds out of the gutter.....

Well you are short one bike now.....

Raehlert, Crowie, Potts will do better than he has in the past and I think his best year in Kona.

Hey have you checked out the interview they did with macca on competitor radio?  They talk about Potts taking it serious this year rather than just going for the bonus he gets for being first out of the water.  I'm not really a huge Potts fan but just love the competition.  Check it out if you haven't.  I found it to be a great interview with always candid macca.

back in early august...

BTW, thanks for the welcome guys/gal.

Fred, just do what I do: make sure all of her bikes are nicer that the one you want.

Jay - welcome to the group! If you guys could ever talk Bobby into into joining Fred's group my circle of BT heros would be complete!

A big Thanks to Fred and all his great work here on BT, he kindly invited me to check out this group.

My logs are an open book, feel free to check them out. I look forward to getting to know you good folks. I'm primarily a cyclist these days. I still swim and run enough to compete in the occasional tri. I had the IM bug for a while, did IMAZ in 2009 but a bike crash 1.5 years ago pretty much ruined my knee and I don't run as much as I'd like. Luckily I love the bike and plan to do some more racing. I still only have a TT bike so I'm limited to which races I can do however I have my eye on a Felt AR.

I don't post much here on BT any more but I do like to keep my logs. I pretty much started logging here when I started Triathlon, no idea how I would move all that data. Oh, and I am addicted to Strava.

Hi Sally! Good to see you here. You were definitely one of the oldtimers I followed ... not, uh, OLD ... I just mean here before me when I was just a young lambling here.

Do you race TTs? Relay leg of tris?

Welcome to the group Sally and Jay!

No big plans for me today.  I got in a 1 hour ride yesterday, might go for a short run this morning but the weather isn't great here today so I might not....

Probably just going to be a lazy day, I'm hoping the coverage of the 70.3 WC is half decent and I can watch that.

Good luck to all racers and happy/safe training to everyone else!
