May our run be what we expected and guide us to the finish line.....to where the party is at.

Looks like bike has headwind out and nice tail wind back. First 2 splits are quite a bit slower than next 2.

There is a slight grade up to the turn around.

Local triathletes who I know are 2 top AGers with few miles left on the run. Go Tony and Pat!

Thanks- I figured out that I needed to scroll further (duh)..but there does seem to be an issue with the 9 mile splits on the bike..missing a few ..gave me some anxious moments but sure its just a glitch & all is well with marianne & others..Wish i were there!!!!

Thanks for all the support and tracking guys. Was feeling sorry for myself over a really bad run split bu wife helped me snap out of it. For having ideal conditions I thought it was a tough day out there.

So I finished...Most of my race went well. Part of my race went extremely terrible...During the 2nd loop of the run, I started getting really light headed; my face was tingling and then my hands started tingling as well. I decided that I would check in at the next medical cart, probably calling it a day...But when I got to the cart, I just couldn't make myself do it. I threw my goal times out of the window and just told myself to finish. Somehow, after a lot of walking, (and grapes) I was able to muster the power to get back on track...I ran until I started feeling light headed, then I walked, took in water...and of course, more grapes. I was able to cross the finish line in 12:55:08...my goal was 13:00.

I don't know what came over me, or if it was even the right decision, but I'm (obviously) happy with my finish. Oh yeah, I'm also an Ironman.

Congratulations to everyone I hope you all had an amazing day.

I saw a few BTrs, mariane before the swim; Jorge floating next to me in the water, on each bike loop and the first part of the run...I couldn't get away from that kid

Had a good day. My run started to fall apart @ mile 10. Dehydrated is my guess. Did run/walk to try and recover while drinking at aid stations. @18 I tried to pick it up. @20/21 (fuzzy) I did the math in my head and had an hour to beat 13:00 maybe 12:45. I started to kill myself to try and salvage a bad run. Looking at splits I laughed as at this point I barely made 10min pace and it was agony 12:42:02. A few minutes to spare. ... cant sleep but tired ...

Sorry to hear about the run, but thats a pretty good Ironman story your walking away with.....great work....

 

I had a solid day, didnt have the swim I was hoping for but I didnt let it discourage me, I had a good bike split and stuck to my guns on trying to get a 4:08 on the marathon.....I ended up doing a 4:07 on the marathon leading me to a 11:52 finish......didnt quite make the 11:38 goal I was shooting for....but I am really proud that I ran the entire time on the marathon (1st time ever) and set a PR in the marathon ( both open and IM marathon).  So im super proud of my effort and letting the race come to me and not over reaching for anything.  

But it was great seeing many of you on race day and a couple of you during the race.

Anyone think that the swim was long?

I only checked on some friend's times and for a wetsuit race times didn't seem all that fast.

Maybe not enough room to get going. Crowded until turn around and super crowded when you went under a bridge

Congratulations to all the BT Ironmen and Ironwomen!  It's been amazing watching this thread and to see the dedication, hardships, anxiety, frustrations, and now joys of your Ironman journeys.  I wish I could have been there with you this year.

 

Crossing my fingers that I'm one of the few that get registered online today for next year.....

I got in line, to register for next year, about 5:00. I'm about 250 people from the front. A few people camped out. Someone even set up a tent. Now at 6:15 the line has probably tripled. This is like Black Friday for triathletes!
