TheSchwamm - 2008-10-15 9:06 AM TAN, what new hobbies should i pick up? The surgeon told me i should basically stay off of my feet for the next few years. He suggested OWS (in WI? Uh.... Right.), biking while pushing on the pedals with my midfoot instead of forefoot, and circuit training. He said yoga and pilates might be good, but i'm thinking yoga might not be the smartest thing i could do.

mr2tony - 2008-10-15 9:13 AM Hi TAN. Have to drive to Des Moines today. I'd call JD but I don't have his number and he didn't return my PM. Gawd this is like dating in high school all over again, except the girls were cuter.

Where in your foot does it hurt again? And what makes it hurt? Sorry, I kinda missed this conversatio somehow. Just saw your posts yesterday about the doctor not being able to do anything for you.

Pilates would be okay, since not all of it is standing (just avoid the standing stuff, I suppose), so you wouldn't be putting any weight on your foot.

The ball of my foot hurts basically where the joint of the second toe is inside the foot. i have a high-grade tear of a ligament. Anytime i bend my foot and/or put pressure on it, it hurts.

Okay - then yeah, yoga is probably not going to be good. Hmmm...I'm really sorry, Schwamm Most sports are weight-bearing in those areas in some way.

Yeah, that's what i figured about yoga... Would pilates be better? i've taken yoga classes but never a pilates class.

I did have to laugh at the fact that the majority of the top 20 are people who frequent TAN.

And a lot of the people who aren't are in the challenge forum's version of TAN.

maybe you just need to change something.... like the way you dress.  You know you gotta dress right to catch the right guy... you can't just go around looking like one of the guys.  You gotta get him to sit up and take notice.  try something sassy.

Yeah, that's what i figured about yoga... Would pilates be better? i've taken yoga classes but never a pilates class.

There are different types of pilates and some of it requires standing, but a "mat" class will be mostly, if not all on the ground, which will be just fine. If they do make you do anything standing, just opt out - most instructors are cool with it, and may even be able to give you a modified exercise - or test it (carefully) to see if it's something you can do.

Yoga would be much more going back and forth on your feet (ie, flowing from down dog to plank, etc) - pilates isn't like that. I'd check it out.
