swbkrun - 2009-04-02 8:04 PM

So went for a run tonight... Tested out some new Zoot's!  I loved them, felt great, easy on, lightweight.... UNTIL--- (Yes Tracy this is worse than the zit inside my nose last year!)... AND IT'S ON BOTH FEET! SAME SPOT!  I think the shoes are good for a Sprint/Olympic... Not much further!

8m and they did that? YUCK. Were you wearing socks?

You know I have looked at those shoes in magazines and thought about them.  Then I decided shoes really aren't their business and stuck with my Brook's.  You can't beat them, especially for the price.

I do like the M-dot.

Steve,  when I got my Brooks shoes they did the EXACT same thing to the exact same spots on my feet.  They are not doing it now, but it was almost as if there was some pinching from the front of the arch supports.  They are not doing it now, guess i just had to toughen up a bit.

8 miles today no socks. But that is what makes the zoot shoes special! They are sport specific for triathlon. I will race an Olympic or less! I did like the way they felt other than the blisters. Suzy thanks for the compliment!

Steve, nice post right at dinnertime!  Yikes, I thought that was a picture from some medical journal (until I saw the Mdot )  Those zoot shoes sure are cute, though!

Heading to the pool tonight with my wetsuit.  I bought it early last year and only wore it to the pool, just seem to tire me out more when swimming.  I rented for the events I needed a wetsuit.

Have a new swim stroke so going to see if it was me causing the issues, not the suit.

BTW, good advice from Emilio Desoto here in the forums, early in the season after your wetsuit has been sitting in the closet or wherever you store it.  Put it in the bath tub to soak up some water.  He said that during the season when you are using it even when the suit feels dry there is some water in it which helps with flexibility.  After sitting around in the off-season that water dries up and the suit stiffens.  Putting it in the tub helps get it flexible again.

Thanks Tony... Good advice!  I can't wait to take mine out soon!  Well after working the blisters over last night, they feel good today!!! Back to the grind !!!   Well I am FINALLY getting fit properly on my tri bike in the hopes are starting actually ramp up my miles... 3hr deal today...

The 3D BG FIT will be performed with the rider on their bike in the riding position and will assess the rider's position from the side, top and front planes. This allows for a dynamic assessment of the rider's hip, knee and foot alignment. The frontal plane assessment is crucial to centering the rider on the bicycle and assures that the rider maximizes efficiency and overall comfort. Gerk's integrates the DATA FIT system into every 3D Advanced Fit.

(Dual Angle Technical Assessment)

The DATA FIT is a proprietary 3D fit system that uses motion capture video technology to assess the rider's position and pedaling motion. Two cameras simultaneously record the rider's motion and allows for a side by side comparison of adjustments. This greatly increases the benefits of the 3D Advanced Fit and allows for more consistent and accurate adjustments. Adjustments include: Saddle height, Saddle posistion fore and aft, Handlebar and lever position, Handlebar reach/drop, Hand position, cleat position, Stance width, Leg length discrepencies, Shoe shimming(inside/out) and Footbed/Arch adjustments.

Here is a laugh for everyone,  I was looking at Steve's photo and thought he had the tatoo on the arch of his foot and a blister up on his ankle/leg!  Honestly.

Steve, do you have high arches - or the shoes?  Glad to hear you tested them. I've been curious about those shoes for a while.   But sorry about your blister Cry

Tony, have a great time sneezing running in the cherry blossoms this weekend. I'll bet they are georgous, providing you can see them through your swollen eyes.

Okay ladies, Tracy, Suzy, Janet!

Would it be lame to buy the zoot trainers just to walk around in?  They are super cute--I don't think I would run in them because I am super shoe sensitive and have finally found my Saucony's that I love....but walking around sockless in Hawaii or summertime???

68 bucks on sale at runningwarehouse.com

Or too much wannabee   ???  have a great weekend everyone!

A lady can never have too many shoes.  Besides, don't we all retire our running shoes to our walking shoes, so who would know that isn't the case with these?  Enjoy.

1st off... Don't like the new format!  Not a fan of change.  What was wrong with the old BT format! Whatever, I will get use to it...

GET THESE SHOES!!! I HAVE A PAIR FOR MEN, and THEY ARE GREAT FOR SOCKLESS ADVENTURES!!!

Just so you know... Some of us men are pretty metrosexual, and have an opinion on this stuff.  I mean shoot... I would be willing to bet my legs are smoother than some of the ladies!!! !!! ALMOST WINE THIRTY!!! Can't WAIT!!

Kim, first off you are not a wanna be.  You are a triathlete.  I think if you want to walk around in Zoots, do it.  Of course if they mess your feet up they way they did Steves I would stick to sandals!

Steve, who do you hate the change? look for functionality? I opened the home page and went "WOW!".  Of course, that is what I do for a living.  It is funny, we do run across so many people that about changing the web site, mainly do to functionality issues.  Active was a great example of one that took a huge step backwards.  Oh--I would have a smooth leg contest with you anyday.  While yours are obviously a lot longer, a good blade, Edge and Shea Butter make mine smoother .

So what is on tap for the gang this weekend?  I am off to eat some pasta and drink some wine to get ready for my relay race tomorrow.  It is kind of weird because it really isn't a race for me, more of a test of my MP strategy so there will be a strong need to hold back and pace.  Either way, the weather is supposed to cooperate (for those of us who live in the tundra -whopping 30 or so at the start!). Should be fun.

I like the format, too!

Guess what Steve?  I actually forgot I have a pair of those, in pink (Tracy) and they are my favorite shoes to wear for sockless adventures!  OMG, what was I thinking....oh, well, I do love sporty shoes ...and I always get caught up in the sales hype

Good luck on your sneezefest, I meant run, Tony!

Trevor, do they not have computers in Florida!? My goodness, some people....

Suzy good luck on the run tomorrow!

Wish me luck, I have to do a 3 hour bike tomorrow and I think I'm going to watch the final four while I do it after work!  I am rooting for the underdogs.

Tonite, we will probably have a nice sauvignon blanc with dinner...woo hoo, no early morning wake up call!

TGIF.  Took the day off today (from training).  Had a little tee ball practice tonight with the 5 yr old.  Talk about work!  Planning on a 2-3 hr ride in the morning and then to the pool to support one of my wifes dental patients who has cystic fibrosis.  Laps for CF,  I am thinking I will only be spectating and supporting, but who knows.

Hope everyone has a good weekend.

I dig the new format.  They are still doing some work on the site that will be updated later in the year.

I think that if you buy shoes, use them for what you want.

Barry--Spectating?  You are such a good swimmer.  Jump in and earn some $$ for CF!  What's up with the avatar?  I liked the one you had before a lot better?

Tony, good luck on Sunday.  What is your strategy?

Kim, you will do great on that 3 hour trainer ride!  I can't say that I have ever come close to it so you will have to let me know how it goes.

Best news of all my CT came via UPS today.  My last bike class is next Thursday so it is perfect timing.  Of course, I would rather be outside, but with 3-7" of snow predicted on Saturday night that probably won't happen this weekend.

My wife and I will be strolling along for 10 miles.  Bringing a camera to take lots of pictures.  Since we just did the 1/2 we weren't really prepared to run this hard so we figured we would give it a try to just go out and have fun.

Very cool on your CT arriving, you will love it.

What a busy week - that will teach me to take two weeks off.....

Looks like everyone else is keepin busy and having some fun.  I've been unable to drag my butt out of bed in the morning to workout this week.  I've tried to get something done in the afternoon, including an impromptu ride when I came home to an empty house today.  We're supposed to have some decent weather this weekend, so hopefully I can pull off a workout or too.  I'd love to get a long ride in <fingers crossed>

Thanks to those that have dropped by my logs to make sure I'm still alive.

Barry - get in the pool and put that training to good use.

I like the new look around here, feels like BT in HD.

Peace.

Took my first spill on the bike.  Wasn't really a fall, more of an embarassing crumble. I knew this was going to happen. I have new pedals and of course approaching the stop sign I unclipped right and fell over left.  The hubby was all laughs.  Thanks a lot.  This was my first  ride on the road with the aero bars and I'm inching closer to that tri bike all the time. What a huge difference that made.  Definitely liking it.  Also met a new training buddy. Had a good ride.

We are off to drop the kids off and the grandparents house for a week so I should have lots of time to train with the hubby next week. I am so excited.  My kids are old enough now to really appreciate leaving them. Wink

And I don't know if I've shared this decision, so forgive me if this is a double posting. But I've decided to replace the diamond with a cubic zircodian (sp?) for now and buy a wetsuit!  How crazy is that!!   I'm not that hung up on jewelry and I'll let the hubby save up for a rock for christmas.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Tracy ...CZ's are awesome.  My wife THINKS she has a big 2 carat diamond on her finger...little does she know.  I mean for real, is she going to go down and get it appraised?  All her friends think I am the MAN!  I mean I really don't see the need in paying thousands or tens of thousands for something that you can buy for a couple hundred and look EXACTLY the same.  Actually I am just kidding, but really there are so many things that seem to be alot more fun than a diamond...to a guy anyway.  Still think a better trade would be for the bike.  Don't sell yourself short

What do you think is up with my avatar?  It disappeared.

If it's predictiable, it's preventable.  j/k  I'm sorry, had to say it, but that sucks.  I fell over last year as I stopped next to my garage door and leaned too far without unclipping.

Tomorrow is my first half mary of the year.  The Martian Half Marathon.  I'm excited.  We're gonna have a great BT turnout!

I'm excited but I know I'll be tired.  I have to do packet pickup at 5am, and it takes almost 2 hours to drive there.  Overnight is not an option as the race is soo close to Ford Field (think Final Four with Michigan State University - in Michigan...) so all of the hotels in the area are crazy booked.   And it just wouldn't work out with my family right now.  Anyway, I'm stoked.

Then I'll have 2 weeks until my first du of the year - 5k 30k 5k.  The race season is on!!

Bring on the pain!

Anyone else racing this weekend?
