dalessit - 2009-05-22 1:29 PM Did my 400 today check my math, I did it in 6:39 but that was in a Meter pool, if I convert it to yards that is 5:57 Right?  I found some online swim calculator and that is what it came up with.

I was actually more happy with the fact that I did that 400, took a breather for a minute then swam an 1100 straight in 21:21

did you do 400m in 6:39??  if so i think that converts to 6:05 doesn't it?  400m =437yds right?

If you say so, I found about 3-4 swim calculators that I think also might have been doing some other conversion along with the meters to yards.  I was kind of suspect of the calculator that is why I asked.

Also, I got the trisports.com catalog in the mail today.  Is it bad that I think I am more excited about that than if a playboy got accidentally delivered to my house?

I have been walking around for the last hour doing stuff around the house while holding the catalog and reading word for word everything in the book.

Damn wife logging into the computer, didn't realize it.

1m=1.0936133 yrds.... I know what you mean about the catalog too.. I get excited when I pick up the new Triathlete or Runnersworld. Although June Triathlete is pretty visual. I know you know what i mean!

Doug, that sounds fun.  I suggest that we start around 11:00.  You and Tracy can stop for lunch around 12, and by the time you guys are done with lunch (eat slowly) I should have caught up to you  Smile

Oh yeah one more thing..... heads up  to Team #4!  I did my 12m bike today and gave it all that I had--22.8mph/31:34 and not on sissy Watts either!  Hopefully, that will make up for my lack of Phelpsness on the swim front!

This is the view from our deck this morning.  Haven't dipped my toes in yet, but plan to this weekend.

Ok, on Tuesday morning I want you to post the video that your husband is going to shoot of your doing your OWS.  I want you to look like a tiny spec at the far end of the lake with a huge wake following... because of the sheer speed of course.

Hi all!!

I have been on vacation this week.  Well, I didn't actually go anywhere so I don't know if I should call it vacation - I just took a week off to do yard work and other stuff around the house.  I realize that I have much more time to be on the computer while I am working!!!  I will get my times posted next week (Go Team Won!) - my pool has been closed and won't reopen until Tuesday.  I didn't think that I would miss swimming, but I have!  I am impressed by everyone's times so far!!  Way to go!!  I am almost embarrassed to post mine!!  Tomorrow I have to go to my Niece's graduation party.  I may get a run in in the evening after I get home!  Have a great Memorial Day everyone!

Linda:

Your swimming is awesome! I was looking at your log and saw that after you did the 400, you did a 4*100 at a total of 5:12! While you may have rested between 100's you had done more swimming before hand.

My weak- swim was done in a 50 ft pool. That's 24 lengths with 23 turns. I'll try again on May 30th, 31st or June 1.

Nice to see all of your super fast swims!!!!  I'll be somewhere close to 2x Linda's time!  One thing I did today which someone on BT recommended, was placing my garmin 305 in a plastic ziploc baggy and putting it into my swim cap.  I pressed start and when I was done, I had distance and time swam, which is something I had always estimated.  So, .66 miles in 30 minutes, that comes out to 1150 yds in 30 minutes.  I know that is slow, but it is pretty good for me!  I stayed in a straight line again and actually felt relaxed.  The waves are something different, but they kind of create a nice rhythm.  I had always worried about races with ocean swims but am starting to feel okay with it now.  I will just have to come to Hawaii to do my triathlons from now on, so I don't have to wear a wetsuit!

Well, I did my run this AM. I ran 1.5 miles to the high school track for a warm up. The track is new and padded. I figured why not give myself every advantage I can. Well, after 3.1 mile all out my time was...19:00:11!!! That is the fastest I have ever run. I did not eat before hand, but I never wanted to throw up more without being sick, in my life. I felt like a fish that got washup on shore gasping for air. Also I sweat like its raining. Normally it takes me at least 6 miles to start soaking through my clothes. After 6.09 mile total for the day it looked like I had just finished rehearsals for singing in the rain!

Everyone have good holiday and week.

Great job on the ocean swimming Kim! That is something I envy and fear. I've often wondered if I'd actually be able to do a tri with an ocean swim, seems like it would be a whole different race from a lake swim. Congrats on getting comfortable with it! I use the garmin in the cap trick for my OWS too. Works really well, and it's nice to have the distance.

I'm heading over to Walla Walla today for packet pick up for Onion man tomorrow. Can't wait to see the shirts! It'll mostly be a training race, since I'm only 3 weeks out from Boise, and can't really afford a taper or much recovery. Should be a fun one though! Oh, and I'm going to have to take the second half (downhill) of that bike course to even come CLOSE to Suzy's 22mph!

I am really interested how people here taper when the races are close together. My 1st is in 2 weeks, I then have 3 weeks to my 2nde and then 2 week until my 3rd. I think I can do a taper to the second, but what do I do with the 2 week window?

Hi All

Another beautiful day in Northern WI.  Had a great run on Bearskin trail this morning and plan to hit the lake this afternoon.

Barry--bad news on the waverunner escort.  We put it in the water yesterday and it has an issue.  Not sure I am going to be able to do the swim exactly the way I wanted to.  It may be similar to Doug's--back and forth between two piers.  Not ideal, but it will get done.

Roni--best of luck to you tomorrow.  Your training has gone well so stay strong, be tough and have fun.

Linda-Your swimming is something I cannot really relate to at all.  It is impressive.  I would love to see you in person.  Watching a really good swimmer is very inspiring.

Doug-Awesome run.  I am definitely going back and trying mine again before June 1st.  I will never be that fast, but I would love to get closer to my 5K PR.

Kim--have a safe trip home.  I am so proud of you for getting out in that ocean.  Just think how much easier things will feel in that Olympic!

Can someone clarify one thing?  Is the team run a 5K or 3 miler?  I keep seeing references to 3 miles, but I thought we said a 5K!  Memory is failing me.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

I only taper for my "A" races.  And honeslty they are so far apart this year that I can do that very easily.
