skrtrnr - 2009-10-26 8:33 AM MORNING GHOULIES.

just a quick fly by then off to the Y....

takin it easy this week.

ITS TAPER TIME.

YAHOO!

short (makeup) swim, nice slow easy.

4 mile run, which im really looking forward to.

you get to this point in your training, and can just settle into the fact that you've trained well.  i realy take this time to reflect back and i always end up having some of the 'best' runs during taper week.

feels like the 'pressure' is 'off' you know.

all the hardwork is done.  its just mentally getting yourself ready to race.

just go and let your body take over.

yay!

i was thinking about 'dedicating' each mile to someone/something that im grateful for...

of course the members of my family rank up there in the top 4, so im gonna dedicate a mile to my husband, and each one of my sons.

im sure to dedicate a mile to my new formed TRI CLUB.

but i wanted you all to know that im gonna dedicate at least one mile if not several to each of you my GHOULIE teammies.

this has been a GREAT challenge to do with THIS particular group.  i dunno, we seem to really 'jive' well together.

maybe it was just the 'season' i was in, what i 'needed' from a team, but i really, really have had one of the BEST times on a challenge team since participating in challenges here on BT.

second only to the time i was on a team w Julesy and Deeders and Phil for the first time. now THAT was a FUN time...i dont even know what challenge it was....then there was the infamous boys vs girls swim challenge.  GOOD TIMES!

so im not sure what mile you get, ill let you know, but i just wanted to take a moment and tell you how GRATEFUL i am for each one of you.

you have encouraged me and inspired me in ways that im sure your not even aware.

and you've certainly made this 1/2 MARY trng process MUCH more pleasant and 'doable'....

love ya GHOULIES.  i FOUND MY VILLAGE!

skrtrnr - 2009-10-25 7:33 AM ok.  two things i did...to make myself feel safer....

i deleted all my photos out of my album. i just left the 'headshot' that i use for my profile.

this way no peepin' on my UBER attractive self.  the photos were 'harmless' i thought -i actually dont think of myself 'that way' or that other people/guys see me that way.  too many years being the FAT girl/picked last/passed over for school dances et al.

but  maybe i should start.....at least being more 'aware'

i think perhaps it was the picture of me with my superfly MR. W.GRAVES TOTALLY HOOKED ME UP bike that put him over the edge.

and i 'hid' all my meetup groups.  perhaps too late, this 'creep' probably knows what groups i participate in (turns out he belongs to the NOW/Eckhart Tolle group.  i peeked at his groups) but at least no one else can know/find out.

ill just make certain that Tom the NOW group leader nows whats up...im sure he, or one of the other non-creepy fellows will be more than happy to walk me to and from my car on the meet up nights.

i dont know what to think/to do.

ive not been in this situation before.  i guess im just not sure how 'seriously' to take it.  maybe its harmless, but then again....

kept me up last night.

NEAL, TOM, BILL any chance you guys come and teach this guy a 'lesson'

stacieb

Hey Stacie...kinda creepy so be sure to ask for someone to walk you to your car.. on the otherhand...have you "looked" in the mirror lately? You are soooo not that fat kid always being picked last! You be one hot very fit although a bit lopsided uber strong triathlete!

has anyone done/tried/using the PALEO DIET FOR ATHLETES?

what are your thoughts?

im in a fitness challenge on Facebook (AMAIZA FITNESS CHALLENGE if any of you are facebook users and want to participate in this challenge....)

anyway.  one of the weekly goals is to eat meals that are non-processed - meaning only lean protein, fish, seafood, fruits, vegetables.

no problem.  but i was 'concerned' about the lack of carbs.

i realize that you get plenty of carbs from fruit and some from vegetables, but....

im just curious what you all think those that have read the book, or done the diet.

it seems awfully bare minimum to me, but definatley in keeping w a lifestyle goal of mine that i have to eat more clean/whole/vegetarian.

im not 'opposed' to what they were saying necessarily, just want to make sure that im getting what i need in order to support my training.

any thoughts/feedback et al would be most appreciated.
stacieb

I have not done the diet. I have read some on it. The non processed part of eating right is the key for me. We eat tons of veggies and fish, too. I am bad about the fruit though. too bad cause I love love love fruit- even more than chocolate. A couple of BTers were doing this diet last year and I think they really liked how it made them feel.

Funny you should bring that up.  I just started following this diet for the last few weeks to the best of my ability (ie several 'cheat' meals a week ).  For the most part I think its great.  I need to nail down the pre-workout fueling since of few of my runs lately have been less than stellar and I've gotten that sort of hollow feeling in my stomach.

That said, it has been a very light month for me training wise.  It will be interesting to see how my body handles the diet along with a much increased load next month.

doctorbob18 - 2009-10-25 9:20 PM Way to get back on top team!! WE ROCK!!

Got in 12 miles today, marking an end to 'rest week'. I have 50 miles on the schedule for this week, and since I'm only 4 off my original goal, I'm going to bump it WAYYY up, so hopefully I can help add to our lead.

Go team! keep it up, last week!!!

Also found some updated information on an annual bike race in Iowa that I will be attempting next April again.  Check these photos out - fun times:

http://g-tedproductions.blogspot.com/

Stacie was in a group with me when I attempted it this past spring and only made 150 of the 320 miles but I learned a lot and hopefully will be good to go this coming year!

Neal they run this in your neck of the woods if you are interested!

Here is the actual race site link:

It looks like a very cool race.  I'm not sure I'm up for an ultra biking event.........yet

Girl Passing on Left - 2009-10-25 1:03 AM

wow Stacie you are up late!!!! how are you?

OH JULES.  how i wish i could have seen this message BEFORE i turned off the computer and try to go back to sleep.

i could have used some company.

i fell asleep fine, early.  about 9 pm.  we came home from our neighborhood soiree.  so. much. fun.

then it was about 12:00 wide awake couldnt fall back to sleep.

so, i thought id chk my email, my msgs on facebook, and then here in BT.

had a glass of milk.  took two ibuprofen (sometimes they 'relax' me)

when i was looking in my inbox/email i saw someone left me a msg on meetup.com, so i went to chk out the msg/see who it from.

a total stranger left me this msg, that kinda freaked me out.  nothing major.

the msg said:  'YOU ARE EXTREMALY (misspelled) ATTRACTIVE'

thats it.  nothing else.

i dont know, had any guy here on BT, SOMEONE IVE GOTTEN TO KNOW on a challenge thread or somewhere, sent me a msg telling me how extremely attractive i was i would have been like, WOO HOOO.

but the fact that this came from somone i didnt even know/not someone ive met.  who doesnt even participate in a group that ive participated in, i dont know it just FREAKED ME OUT.

so of course, not being able to fall back to sleep, and not feeling 'well' i started thinking, this guy could show up at one of my MEET UPS, and what he was one of THOSE guys, ya know....YIKERS.

theres a block function on the site, so i can keep him from sending me any more msgs, but....

on the site, i reply what meetings im planning on going to, when/where....

all he needs to do is go to the pages of the groups that im a part of, see if ive RSVP for that particular meet up, and voila he knows where i am and when im going to be there.

im trying NOT to be so anxious...im figuring its was inappropriate, but harmless.

but its got me SO wigged out.

i feel like im going to be 'looking over' my shoulder every time i go to a Meetup, meetup which is SUCH a bummer too.  i really enjoy my Chic Lit Club.  and the biking group.  and the NOW/Eckhart Tolle too.

just when i was starting to 'get out there' more.

UGHISH.

any suggestions, JULES, OTHERS as to what i should do?

i just think you cant be too careful, but then again, i dont want to be 'swept away' in sensationalized headlines either.

I have a permit to carry a concealed weapon, and I'm just a little way over in the middle of the state. I'm just sayin'.

ANN.  that's HARD CORE.

and to know that you've got my back....

that means A LOT.

thanks, girlfriend.

Well... I dated a psycho once. Dealing with him after the breakup was harder than actually dating him. I had to take care of myself.
