My fiance is making fun of me for packing already. I'm glad I'm not the only one paranoid about getting sick. But I've had that happen to me before--2011 January I got a sinus infection right before the Houston Marathon so couldn't race. Also back in 2010 got a sinus infection and could not race San Antonio Marathon. I get sinus infections fairly often, so I'm always trying to avoid it. Plus I work at a facility for the disabled population and I'm hoping I don't get sick because there's always someone sick around here. Kathy, what IMs have you done and what years? Do you have race reports of all of them here? Congrats on turning 50. I think reading some race reports leading up to someone's 50th b-day would be good reading material for me right now. My wife is the one in our relationship with the organization skills. I think it is driving her crazy that I HAVEN'T started packing yet. I guess I need to quit posting on here and make my lists. |

Nice! Your journey to start line is incredible. Could you repost the link to the article about you on Ironman? The story was published in USA Triathlon, but I think by now it is buried in the "out-of-date archives". you can see pretty much the same story on my website, www.Cardiac-Iron.us. Thanks for asking, Kathy. But you guys, and other awesome friends of mine, are all inspirations. |

And I will be "participating" in IMAZ 2012 as part of a group of cardiac survivors, the IronHeart Racing folks. THOSE people are some inspirations. |

Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread KathyG - 2011-10-28 2:13 PM What all do you still need to get or resolve before you leave for PCB? I've got a spare charger plugin for my Touchpad that comes in tomorrow. Gotta take the critters to mom's house Gotta finish packing the stuff that I've used this week. Gotta change wheels out tomorrow afternoon to the HEDs. Debating whether I want ANOTHER tackle box with all the liquids in it (chain cleaner, chain oil, etc) Gotta remember to pack the threaded CO2 that have already been claimed |

Veteran 239 Austin | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread Threaded CO2 cartridges ordered, will come in today. Pack those along with the extra tubes. Switched over to the HED wheels and installed wheelcover. Will ride-test tomorrow after OWS swim in the lake. Bringing both bikes... yeah, I am anal. (That's the beauty of driving ) One more road test on the road bike Sunday. Maybe one carb-loaded unit of hydration during the Texas A&M game tomorrow. |

Expert 769 Murfreesboro, Tennessee | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread I have a friend who is loaning me his race wheels. He is bringing them over tonight. I will take them for a test ride tomorrow morning. I have to pack my race gear. I'm still reviewing my lists to make sure I haven't left anything off. Trying to tie up some loose ends at work since I plan on staying in Florida for a week after the race. I think I have everything purchased I need. |

I have always taken the relaxed approch. If there is walmart and a bike shop then I am not going to worry if I forgot something. I have alot of time to kill and relax in those 3 days before the race. So stress be gone . Dexter is killing mighty fast this season with no long plotted session like the previous seasons. |

Happens every time. Yeah, I know I work into it after two hours or so and loosen up but feeling like I cannot walk after an hour bike ride bothers the snot out of me. ... then it all comes together (gotta keep remembering that)
Ditto! |

Expert 977 | Subject: RE: Ironman Florida : Official Thread Got all my nutrition together last night. Put all my stuff into little baggies. Each baggie is basically 100 calories so it doesn't matter what I take as long as I take something at least every 30 minutes or sooner and complement with Perform. Not packed yet but I plan on putting all my stuff in the right bags. I have so many of those swag bags that I am using 1 for each bag needed. Actually a lot easier in the car as they fit in all those little spaces. But my bike in the back seat, can't have it exposed to the weather Great swim today. Just 3000 yards but felt really good. 2.5 hour ride on tap for tomorrow but I don't know as it is supposed to rain. Hate doing my last ride on the trainer. Yuck! enjoy, Duane |

Yuck! enjoy, Duane We have Noreaster forecast for tomorrow which could be big snow storm or rain so 2.5 hours on trainer for me. Smart move to separate stuff into different bags as you pack. When I drove to IMLP I put each of those bags into a laundry basket to keep them together and not spill stuff. I do something similar with calories, have options that I take every 30' that add up to same calories. Where do you carry all those little snack bags? Pat when I went to my first IM I brought 2 bikes as well...thinking if something happened I'd have a spare or could take off parts if needed. |

Kathy, I will be changing into my bike shirt for the ride. I can take 2 days of food in that shirt. That plus my Bento box ans I could go camping for weekend |
