Still here. Still snowing. The little boys are off of school again tomorrow, the 4th day off. I have logged hours of snow shoveling and managed a couple runs, but my left knee is complaining. I am so thankful for the snow. Our farmers really needed it.

Hubby got the job. I didn't get mine, so we are staying in Kansas, which makes his pay incredible. He even gets shares of stock for signing on. Wow.

I'm sorry about the SD college--their loss! However, SD is really expensive, and Kansas is not, and it sounds like Hubby made out like the champ he is! Congrats.

I am so proud of him. He had a phone interview with the CEO and owner/founder of the company on Friday, and his new boss told him this afternoon when she made the offer that the CEO said, "I don't care what it costs, get him." So they made him an offer he couldn't say no to, nearly $20,000 more than he asked for. LOL

First I asked him if he was going to leave me, and when he said no, I asked him if I could quit my job. Funny. He also said no to that.

This gave me a smile, obviously your sense of humor remains intact. So sorry about the weather and your job. Their loss. And so happy for your DH. I'm sure it'll all work out for the best.

OK, recent job discussions in here have me wondering about everyone's jobs. We may have covered this in the beginning, but I'm lost at this point. What does everyone do for a living?

I'll start this out. I am the DBA/Sr. System Analyst/Data Processing Manager at a small multi bank holding company. This entails overseeing the team that is processing all of the checks and electronic payments for the banks, maintaining integrity of all databases (SQL) and keeping 3 or 4 primary Info Systems running properly.  I have a background in management, IT, and, oddly enough, cooking (we owned a small diner for 10 years).

OK, what about the rest of you????

FREAK OUT in progress!!

Last week, I started training for Big Sur 9 mile.  I hired a personal trainer to help with the strength stuff and weight loss efforts.  I gave up sweetners/sugar on Ash Wednesday (so almost 2 weeks) and have been eating fairly healthy (wine on the weekends, but that was really it for slips).  By Friday, I felt like crap.  Totally fatigued, sick, sore, etc...  I talked to cutie patootie trainer guy and he suggested that I drop to the beginner running program for a couple of weeks until my body adjusts to moving regularly.  I did that and it does seem more doable.  Now for the freak out, my weight has SKYROCKETED!!!   I am up 5lbs since Friday, when the fatigue started.  I am scary close to a decade I have NEVER seen, even 9 months pregnant.

Already have the sweetners gone, so today, I go full on primal.   Is there anything else I can do?   Where is this gain coming from?   It can't be muscle, its only been a week.

I was able to find a dress for my step-daughter's wedding that has a long black skirt to cover all the dimples and dents.   I couldn't believe that in 1 month since I have shopped, my size has gone up again.   This is unreal.   I am the incredible, enlarging woman.  Must stop this.  Suggestions?

So today I couldn't get my swim done early but I figured I'd be done at work early enough to go to the gym and knock out a swim/run combo. Everything was going smoothly until I was almost home and my boss text me that he left his notebook in my car. So I figure I'll go home and grab my gym stuff then drop off his folder and go to the gym near the Albuquerque office. Again, the plan was running smoothly until I get in to the locker room and realize I've brought everything but my swim suit. Yell

Now, mind you, I missed my swim on Friday because the pool closed and didn't fit it in this weekend, in spite of my best efforts. So I said to my self "Self?", I said "yes?", I said "what would the Manatees do". Well of course skinny dipping was out of the questionLaughing so I started to get dressed to hit the dreadmill. I got my running shorts and sport bra on and thought, hey, wait, could I swim in this? So I thought about it for a few seconds, black shorts (the kind with the liner) and a black sport bra. Why not? So I grabbed my pool stuff and headed out there.

Good thinking there Manatee!

I am an attorny for a law enforcement agency which means I get to do a lot of exciting things as well as the traditional boring lawyer stuff.  I also have the joy of being on call 24-7 for 2 month blocks where I have to make sure to always be available to the agents by phone.

Jo, my input would be to relax, not change anything else and keep steady for a couple of weeks. Give your body the chance to "catch up" to what you are trying to do. After that, only use the scale once a week. Examine yourself at that point, analyze the food choices and the training time that you have done. If it is sensible, make 1 small change, maybe dumping a meal and replacing it with a filling salad, or adding another 30 minute workout to the next weeks training schedule. Small tweaks along the way will probably do a better job than a huge change, as those are more challenging to maintain over any period of time.

Good luck, the road is tough, but you are tougher!

I was supposed to do 40 minutes on the trainer.  I started riding and only lasted 20 minutes because the outside of my left knee started hurting.  I will be icing it tonight.  I'm guessing it's just because I haven't been on the bike in a long time... it wasn't injured (to my knowledge) before.

I'm sorry but the DL is full.  You cannot injure yourself.

When you were on the bike, was your upper body relaxed?  Shoulders down?  Hands on hoods, etc.  Sometimes people ride the trainer like they are sitting on an uncomfortable chair watching TV, not like they are riding a bike.  Make sure you you are in outdoor riding position.  And yeah, it's probably just your body saying, "I thought we were done with this?  I wanna RUN!"

Sorry I missed all of the YaltyJo shenanigans live. Reading them was hilarious enough. I do not get good phone reception at work so I am forced to check in when I get home or if I leave work to run and get something.

I figured I would be nice to everyone I work with and got a swim workout in tonight. I am not sure of the distance but it felt good. I am getting a lot better at my flip turns and that is greatly improving my swim times. I did 8 100's, after swimming for an hours, at 1:35-1:50. I was happy with that.

If I can get a couple of runs in I still my do my race this weekend. More of a "jump-start" to get back into training. The expected temps are -7F to 16F, that may have an impact also.

Glad that you were able to get a workout in.  I'm sure that your coworkers appreciated it Smile

I'm a computer support specialists at NC State University.  I support the Cooperative Extension program which has offices in every county in the state.  Right now I am doing website and event management (cvent) and related stuff.  We just did a big equipment rollout to our offices and I got to image hundreds of machines so this is a good change.

I currently do route sales for a wine distributor.  I drive a truck full of wine to a regular route of convenience stores and sell what I can.  I HATE MY JOB..!!  The work is ok, the money is piddly, and my boss is horrible.

I also build websites on the side (self taught developer), and as of late have started swim coaching (which I love doing).

Thought I was a shoe in for that 911 operator job..

Still focusing on getting into triathlon coaching and still looking for a day job (need medical and dental benefits).

I'm currently self employed driving trucks(think they are called semi's in America???). Used to have my own haulage business until it went belly up in 2009 due to the mess the banks have got us in. Money mouth Still running the business, but it is a shell of what it was. I'm just running it in order to clear off the debts it still owes rather than it going bust/bankrupt. It's been a long old slog, £109,000.00 owed in 2009, £63,000.00 left owing today. In my spare Laughing time, I am studying for a Bsc(Hons) in Natural Science leaning toward geoscience. I'm about 2/3rds of the way through, but must admit that I have fallen behind on my study since I started training in October. So much so that I am thinking of cancelling the module I am sitting at the moment to redo next year. The amount of assessments that I have missed so far will drag my grade down, so it might be best to redo it next year. I'm not studying for a career change, although that would be nice, it's more to do with my interest in Geology. So Yanti, you are in my dream location where you live with all the volcanoes along the ring of fire.

Thought this may interest Salty, being about Mo Farrah. Makes you proud to be American LMAO:

well my little Artemis is blue too said she feels like crying for no reason. So hugs to you and her. I've been blue ive been in darkness for about 11 months - finally seems doc has fixed it. Big thanks for sticking with me throughout happy to repay some of that lovin

Hugs for your little one. I got to snuggle with my little E. Artemis last night and that definitely helped.  Of course, I fell asleep rocking her and she looked up, poked me in the nose, and said "mamamamama" in a "why are YOU sleeping?" kind of way.  Gotta love them.
