I just feel flushed and warm and like it's nappy time...  Know that feeling?

After a few glasses of wine...

Come to think about it.  It IS remarkably close to after a double bourbon on the rocks - but without the happy part.  maybe a double bourbon when you are allergic to it?

I also have an achy tooth.  It's like I got punched in the jaw for almost two weeks now and throbs when the heart rate goes up.  I called the dentist and they say I have a regular visit next week and can I wait so I'm giving it a go.  Long story, we THINK we know what the issue is (new crown), but I'm telling you, it feels different and I suspect something more too it.  Joy.

Take you temperature. If you have a fever, that is an indicator of a full blown abscess into the gum. The dentist will have to treat the abscess with antibiotics before he/she can work on the tooth. Better to get that started before next week.TW

Honestly, that's what I thought it was.  I have my theory.  They got particularly aggressive last visit and got too deep in that same area.  It seemed ok, but I swore I got a popcorn kernel stock in that spot a couple weeks later.  I flossed it out later that day, but over the next week, it got puffy and painful there.  Puffiness went away but it hurts like drilling the tooth without Novocain when I floss and bleeds like a mofo.  That's been two weeks.  Dentist says wait for the visit???????

HOWEVER, last night I got one off these floss/brush things that look like a pipe cleaner and got in there between me teeth.  It almost brought a tear to my eye and bleed but scrubbed it out.  Rinsed with mouthwash and hydrogen peroxide.  I'm telling you - pain...  BUT, today it feels remarkably better...

SO - sorry for TMI.  But I think I did have an infection and I scrubbed it out and the peroxide might have killed what was left...  BUT, I can wait for next week and give the dentist a crack at it.

Of course, I always get delusions of it being the worst thing possible.  Bone disease or something rare I picked up overseas!

Nothing quite like finding a brown recluse spider in the sink when going to make coffee. I'm awake now.

Had those in the Midwest of course.  Black Widows are the local breed which will wake you up in a hurry.  I wonder if the fear of them is greater than the real danger though.  It's not like they chase you around and I never found one inside.  They hang outside next to a water source.  Usually web up around the pool equipment or the condensation drain for the AC units.  Found a couple inside the pool filter when I lifted the lid once.  That was quite a start.

The recluse had me on edge a little more.  Someone who rented a room from us had a square inch of her thigh removed because of a festering recluse bite.  She kept her room a mess though.  If you are tidy, they usually don't make a home.  They like out of the way hidden areas (hence the "recluse") like piles of old laundry and such.

We also have the desert tarantula that I roll up on during my rides.  They are basically harmless, but running/biking up on a 4" hairy spider can be unnerving.  Oh, and scorpions.  They are probably scarier due to movies than they are in real life.

I'm generally not afraid of this stuff. If I were alone in the office, I would have killed it. But, a few of the production guys were here, so I let them handle it.

Practice the other day we were putting the boat into the water and looked up to see a small gator watching us. We put our oars in and checked on the gator again and he was gone. We all sort of looked over the edge of the dock and wondered where he'd gone! That was slightly less unnerving than having actually hit a gator in the boat one night! Like I told a friend of mine; In FL, you go for an OWS you get a choice. You can swim with the gators or swim with the sharks, take your pick.

One of those weird weeks with NOTHING to do.  Well, close to nothing.  Just enough of "something" spread throughout the day to mess things up.  Like today.  I COULD have maybe taken the afternoon off too golf or run or both.  But I have that ONE phone meeting right in the middle of the afternoon.  Blech.

I really should just take tomorrow off, but why should I use up my PTO because we don't have work?  I shouldn't have to take the hit.

So far I spent the morning just checking on accounts - gaming accounts, banking accounts, app accounts - whatever came to mind.  Pressed a bunch of buttons on my new phone to see what they did...  Checked the World Cup schedule...  time killer stuff.

welcome to my world.  On my office days I spend roughly 1/2 my time doing nothing.  Its making me frigging NUTS.  Today my down time has mostly been consumed by being in computer hell.  I know you all want to me in my shoes

Thank you everyone. Our daughter is hospitalized with severe depression. Needless to say; everyone is very scared. She is safe and has a long way to go towards recovery

Keep it here please; no FB as I don't want to explain to the world, but needed to unburden some. Not a very good last 36 hours. Flying home now, so being there makes it easier.

Me too. My sense of urgency is gone. We were supposed to ship our prototype before I left, but that is certainly NOT happening now. So, I'm just hanging out and getting stuff ready for the person who will take over for me.

I'm working on three complete packing lists that will get me through from now until December or January, that will fit in my car.

Black widows' venom has more of a systemic effect; it's a paralytic so it can cause nasty muscle rigidity.  Depending on where they bite, it can be life-threatening or at least make you really really sick.  Brown recluse venom causes tissue breakdown and abscesses.  Neither are anything to fool with.  They're actually the only poisonous spiders in the continental US.  Although tarantulas are more aggressive, their bites are more akin to bee stings; kinda painful but localized and not all that dangerous.  In general, if you leave the black widows and brown recluses alone, they'll leave you alone.  Most people aren't inclined to leave them alone or encounter them accidentally by doing things like, say, cleaning pool filters.  (Arcane spider knowledge courtesy of living with a dad with a Ph.D. in the darn things.)

I'm sorry to hear this, but thankfully she was hospitalized before anything serious happened. They couldn't get my aunt into treatment and she killed herself. I hope she gets the treatment she needs so she can recover. That's good you get to go home to be there with her and the family.

I'm so sorry to hear that she's struggling and how scary it is for you and the rest of your family.  Take care of yourself in the midst of worrying about her.  Hard to do, I know, but she's going to need you to be strong for her while she can't be strong for herself.  As somebody who's been through this, knowing that one's not alone is huge, both for her and you.  Sending healing thoughts and light.

Flying home now, so being there makes it easier.

Hoping for the best, and for some peace for you and your loved ones. It's so hard to find even fleeting moments of peace and calm when life throws these things at you. We're here for you.

Subject: RE: TAN #203: TANese New Year - Horsing Around

Allergies.  I am suffering from a cough and stuffed head.  I spent the day outside.  It was perfect spring day, but the pollen and tiny little petals from the oak flowers were so thick the air that you could see it like a fog in the air.  I was coughing but kept at it.  Last night, I paid for that foolishness.  My sinuses plugged up solid and I had an aching cough and a roaring headache.   I woke up at about 1 AM just miserable.  About 4 AM, I took an Advil for the headache and the amazingly it helped ease the cough too.  I think I got another two hours of sleep.  I didn't know Advil would help a cough.

Today, I shall spend indoors playing on BT and writing stuff.

For most people, there is a story in how they came to the sport as beginners. Some of the most inspiring of those beginner tales begin with health scares.
