Expert 977 Huntington Beach | Subject: RE: Stuffed Turkeys - November Challenge Got my bike session on the trainer over with. Horray! It is only my second time using the thing and I hope that it grows on my because right now it is super hard, hot, and tedious! Funny that I thought I was going to do Jorge's winter program when I have yet to make it past 25 min. on the thing. ha ha! Welcome Duane! Set your goals and dive right in! Good job everyone getting back on track! Triathlynn-I am so jealous that it is your Friday today! Have fun on your hike this weekend. Just think, once you get back you will be able to get rid of the goose egg on that part of your goal sheet. I haven't been hiking in a long time. What a great idea for a goal! |

It is only my second time using the thing and I hope that it grows on my because right now it is super hard, hot, and tedious! To deal with the "hot" part of riding on the trainer, I set up a big box fan on the floor in front of my trainer and have it tilted up slightly so it blows on me. One of the reasons I generally hate training inside is the stale, hot air... but the fan works great for me! |

Science Nerd 28760 Redwood City, California | Subject: RE: Stuffed Turkeys - November Challenge Please have the spreadsheet updated with your progress by Sunday morning. I'll give everyone the Current Team Standings by Sunday afternoon. I'm helping Dee out this weekend and doing the team updates, which will happen Sunday afternoon. If it's not in the spreadsheet, it won't count for your totals this week. Please let me know if you have any questions, concerns, etc. |

Master 2042 Albany, NY | Subject: RE: Stuffed Turkeys - November Challenge Had a very quick swim actually this morning which is not a goal this month... but did a 45 minute ride tonight too. On target for bike... but this rainy weather is holding me back on my run goal. I just can't stand the thought of another treadmill run! |

Expert 1773 San Gabriel Valley, California | Subject: RE: Stuffed Turkeys - November Challenge I can't believe I am behind again, especially when I haven't missed any workouts. I think that is the problem with not having a linear workout schedule. Anyway, I am NOT really behind in the challenge even though I am at 40% and the month is 47% gone. Doesn't that sound like the lamest of lame excuses? But it is really true. Unless I can't count, which also might be true. So, everyone, get out there and train train train. I don't want to be last AGAIN. |

I have a run to the pool and a long swim tomorrow morning though! If you haven't seen it yet, check out the sufferfest for indoor training videos. www.thesufferfest.com |

Extreme Veteran 532 Northampton, UK | Subject: RE: Stuffed Turkeys - November Challenge Got to take the new shoes out for a run this morning (Saucony Guide 2). Think they might need another run before they break in completely. Also got another strength session in, which puts both my goals nicely on target. |

Master 1690 Metro NY Area | Subject: RE: Stuffed Turkeys - November Challenge Hey Stuffed Turkeys! I am just back from Aruba, the internet didn't work the last few days I was there, I just updated my challenge page and I'm ready to get back on the trainer. The hotel that I stayed in had a nice gym with good life fitness bikes, treadmills and ellipticals, I was able to do a bit of bike training while there but the only non recumbent bike had a terribly uncomfortable bike seat and only did HR/Watt training two times though I didn't know if I could get any in. |

My "motivational technique" has worked! Of course, we're still waiting to hear if it'll work for Debbie.... Ummmm, then again. I'm not on your team, so maybe I should just suggest that you all do this for the rest of the month: |

Let's step beyond the monthly goals and focus on our own needs. BE GOOD TO YOURSELVES! (me included) YOU CAN DO IT! It is being kind to myself to do the workouts I planned and getting myself into the best and fittest shape possible. I don't do myself any favors when I allow myself to wimp out on scheduled workouts - barring injury, life, etc. |

Master 1397 Granvile, Ohio | Subject: RE: Stuffed Turkeys - November Challenge I've been really struggling with getting my trainer workouts in. Its a mental thing with me. I've been dreading going down in the basement to get them done. Yesterday, I realized that I need to change my thinking and my goal became to find what I can do to get excited about my trainer rides. It changed my entire mindframe and when I got on the trainer, it wasn't with dread, but because I really wanted to. This quote came this morning through Runnersworld.com and it is spot on: "The more I thought about what I get to do, the less I realized I had to do. It was just a shift, just a new perspective, just a new and more grateful method for labeling the things in my life. Think about it—if you stopped yourself every single time you were about to say, "I have to" and changed it to "I get to," it might change your entire experience." Good luck this week everyone! |

The rest of us look to be pretty much on track to reach our goals. Edited by sicone 2009-11-16 8:10 AM |
