billsorg - 2010-03-29 3:37 PM Very dreary day here.  I was able to get in a swim this morning, so I'm getting closer to my swim goal.  I just went for a jog/walk with my daughter... it's difficult to run while pushing her in her wheelchair, but managed to get in a little bit of a workout.  Plus it was nice to get out of the house.  This weekend is supposed to be spectacular weather-wise.  Can't wait to head out for a family bike ride.  Have a great day bEASTies and let's get in a bunch of training over the next 2 days!!!

Bill you rock!!  And I am not self-posting here

Do you have an athletic wheelchair for her or the standard?

That is awesome - you are a superbly awesome father - keep it up!!!!

Thank you for the kind words, Bill.  No, we just have her standard wheelchair, but  we're looking into various pieces of equipment that will help to include Rachel in our ever-increasingly-athletic lifestyle.
I do not know if it is still the case but years ago the Knights of Columbus had a program that people could apply to for the purchase of equipment for handicapped children.  My hubby's cousin was able to get a wheelchair they could take off road.  You did not need to be Catholic to apply.  Every year they do a tootsie roll sale and the money went towards that program.  YOu might look into it. Just look up your local Knights of Columbus Chapter in the phone book.

Thanks, Kathy... we'll look into it!

Just had to head out for a meeting across town... what a CR@Ptastic day!  I mean, it's just downright depressing out there.  I absolutely cannot wait for this (3-day) weekend... if the weather people even think about changing the forecast for this weekend, well... I... just... might... Yell

A friend founds some pumps in Mass.  He bought 3- one for us, himself and a mutual friend.  I think the water is about another inch higher. Yikes. Got to figure out if we need to turn off the gas to the hot water heater.  The furnace is up on blocks and still dry so far.

It's still raining.  Boo.  I had to cancel Cole's OT appointment.  All the roads I need to use to get there are partially closed.  Oh well, I really didn't want to drag everyone out in this mess again anyway.  Ick!  So, I'll stay in and make some dinner then watch UCONN crush Florida State.  Like FSU has a chance!

I'm feeling better today, and got in a couple of trainer rides to get me close to my bike goal.  I'll try for another trainer ride tomorrow morning, as well as a lifting session after work.  That should put me at 100% for my lifting goal, and closer to 100 for biking.

Got another trainer ride in tonight.  I'm now at 100% or more for 3 of my 4 goals.  The only wild card is my weigh in tomorrow.  I'm going to be dreaming skinny thoughts tonight!

No school for the kiddos again today.  It sure is a mess here.  Another busted swim day for me due to mother nature.  She has it out for me.

Kathy/Erica,
You guys are really getting pounded.  We finally got some sunshine this morning!  Looks like we're all going to dry out for the next bunch of days.  Good luck with your basements... Hope there's no damage.

Your rain is coming to us next week.  Currently, we are having a sunny, sunny week with way above seasonal temps.  Fingers crossed it lasts into the weekend like they're calling for.

In other news...did my final swim last night.  Will do my final strength tonight - might shake it up with some pilates...Then I'll be 100% for both goals.

Everyone did really well.  It was a fun group.  Thanks for the challenge, Dee.

Good morning bEASTies.  Did an early AM run that put me at 105% across the board.  This challenge has been really helpful and enjoyable.  Thanks for the encouragement and good humor.

I got a terrible night's sleep last night.  I made the mistake of having a cup of coffee at around 3pm, which was dumb.  I probably didn't fall asleep until about 11:30, then at 12:30 our cat, Butterscotch, was nice enough to bring us a little present... I dead mouse.  She brought it to the base of our bed and then just meowed until I finally had to get up to see what the issue was... Disgusting.  Then of course I couldn't fall back asleep until about 3am. Frown

Because of my late night activities, I wasn't able to get up for my morning run, so I have to go to the Y at lunchtime for a double workout... 3.5 mile run followed by a 1900 yard swim.  Then I'll be 100% or better across the board.  Nothing like waiting until the last minute!

Oh, gross!!!

I was up most of the night too, partly due to my wonderful cat.  She was downstairs meowing all night though.  My husband was away for the night and I couldn't stop wondering what he was meowing about...  My imagination runs wild when I'm home alone with the kids at night!

It's a beautiful day out today, so I decided to put off my biking until after work so I can do it outdoors.  If I start early enough and can get back before it starts getting too dark, I may be able to pull off pretty close to 100% on my biking.

Of course, then I don't know if I can get a 45 min strength workout in after that.  We'll see!

Talk about waiting until the last minute Wink

This morning the pump was still running but making no headway in the 5 inches of water in the basement.  At least it wasn't any higher!  Then while we were reading the paper we heard a snap crackle pop and smelled the distinctive odor to an electrical short/fire coming from the basement.  Oh My!  Evacuated the house and the fire department came.  Had to shut off all the power.  We got the electrician here by 11 and he confirmed that the electric baseboard heaters in the basement had shorted out.  We were able to get just that circuit shut off and put the electricity back on to the rest of the house.  One of our friends has their basement all pumped out so now we have their pump going too.
