Titeloops - As with everyone else, shame it turned out to just be a 69.1, but at least you PR'd.

Had my season opener yesterday (RR is here). Still wasn't feeling 100% so missed my target goal time, but still beat last year's time (not difficult as last year it was my first ever race).

Taking today off then back to training tomorrow

Hello everyone!

Wondering if you have any room for someone from the Great White North!  Getting late so I can post my bio tomorrow.

I'm in my second year of Tris, and this will be my 4th year in endurance sport.

Cheers!

Sylvain

Welcome to the group!  If you could at least open your logs to members of the Thread.  It's hard to give some inspires and feedback when your log is closed.

Room for one more?  If yes, I'll post a bio tomorrow (or most likely Monday since the weekend might be a bit busy!)

I'm aiming to improve my HIM time from last year, and I'm pretty sure my biggest limiter is on the bike.... You guys seems to know about HIM's and cycling, so I'd love to join this group!

Welcome to the group!  I feel your bike pain, it's also my weakest link.

Hi all - if the group's still open I'd like to join...

Story: 37 yo female, married with 2 boys (7,9).  This is my 2nd year racing.  Grew up as a swimmer who hated running.  Now I appreciate running but I'm still not sure I like it.  Husband is dedicated trier too and we have much discussion on who gets the trainer or the AM run time.  I can beat him out of the water but I get toasted on the bike and run.  I was in a mentor group recently that was great and taught me many things.

Training: 6x/wk. about 6-10 hours per week.  Currently doing BT Sprint bike focused.  Getting a new tri bike next week which will help with the bike focus!

Race schedule: Finished 1st HM in March (sub 2hr) and have a couple of sprints planned for the year (first is white Lake NC in 4 weeks), graduating to an oly by Oct. and maybe another HM before winter.

Goals: run faster, get comfy on aero bars, learn to drink/eat/drive at the same time, finish an olympic distance, win my age group swim time in any tri, run 1:45 HM, get the confidence to register for HIM distance in '12.

Looking forward to learning much from all of you!

Welcome to the group!  It's more fun when your logs are open to the group!

 Welcome!  You're our final contestant!

Outstanding!!  Here's my info:

NAME:  Adrianne

STORY: Well, I've been wanting to participate in a triathlon since 2006/7 time frame.  During that time I was in graduate school so time wasn't (so I thought) easily accessible for training.  Jump to 2009, I sign up for an Iron Girl tri with hopes it would get me moving.  Short story shorter, I didn't train and tried the tri anyway.  I survived the swim, got my butt handed to me on the bike (hills aren't your friend when you haven't trained and don't know how to shift gears!).  After taking a SAG wagon into transition, I decided to at least walk the run.  I crossed the finish line 3:55 hrs after starting.  I vowed I wouldn't do that again.  Fast forward to this year, I signed up and participated in the Lonestar sprint in Galveston.  Training was sporadic but I finished the tri in 2:31.  VERY slow but proud I finished.  I am signed up for the Skeese Greets all women sprint in 3 weeks, so I want to make the best of that!  After that race, I'd like to training more appropriately for a tri possibly late June.

I don't have a background of running, biking, or swimming.  This is something I've wanted to do for years and am now realizing what it truly takes to participate in and be a triathlete.  I'm ready for it!

FAMILY STATUS: Just me, myself, and I!

CURRENT TRAINING:  I took one week off after the Galveston tri, so I'm returning to activity this week.  I've developed a custom plan via BT which is a swim/run concentration (3x/week each, 2x/week cycling).  Cycling comes easier than the other two disciplines.

2011 RACES:  Lonestar Sprint Galveston, Skeese Greets Women's Sprint, Shammies N' Koozies (bike ride), Sugar Land Sprint Tri, Bridgeland Sprint Tri

WEIGHTLOSS:  I'd like to tone up and lose 10-20 lbs. in the process.  Ideal goal is to just be healthy!

WHAT WILL MAKE ME A GOOD MENTEE:
I really do love the sport.  I've been following triathletes for the past year and love the feeling you get when you cross a finish line, even if it's at a really slow pace!

Howdy neighbor titeloops.  Hope you weathered tornado weekend ok.

I think I friended everyone so logs are open.  100m PR in the pool today!!  Not exactly at my 1:30 goal but getting closer.  Hopefully getting new tri bike this week.  Riding a bike that's NOT 5" too big should be fun.

Looking forward to hearing about upcoming races.  Any thoughts on building run speed while staying healthy?

Left the pool at lunch thinking "The beatings will continue until performance rises"...

11x200s @3:20. Fastest: 2:52, Slowest: 3:02. Talk about slacking!!

Also, it sucks, but I got word that one of my training partners (also The Colonel & the father in law) just got his new orders for the Air Force. He's leaving this summer heading to Boston, Mass for 3yrs. We signed up for Marine Corp together and now we won't be training together....

That sucks.   And I mean losing a training partner, not the swim splits.

Pretty good week for me, one of the highest volume weeks in a while.  The bike includes a trainer ride where the mileage wasn't counted.

Nice, I'm trying to build up to having weeks like that.  I seem to be able to hit them in one discipline but not all three at the same time.

Very light on the running since I kept postponing my runs for nicer weather.  Unfortunately the weather's not cooperating.... it was raining all day Saturday; cleared up for my long ride on Sunday, but snow/raining this morning.  Hopefully spring will be here soon!  It was a beautiful day for riding yesterday, though, so I took full advantage!
