Extreme Veteran 364 | Subject: RE: September North-South Swim and/or Bike Challenge Emmanem - 2011-09-15 11:56 AM I'm starting to become way too good at hurting myself... I now have a lovely 3in bruise on my shin. It's of course on the same leg as my bruised heel and right next to the 3in long scar that I got a couple months ago. At least they've all been minor scrapes and bruises but I would like to be able to go more than a week without injuring myself in some way! They are battle scars, my friend! Reminders of a hard training ride or run... Does that make it any better? Porbably not, but I do sympathize with you. hopefully you'll go injury free for a while. On that note... COME ON TEAM NORTH! We've got the southies on the ropes, and they are getting desparate. I can feel it! Keep putting in those miles and let's finish them off! On another note... Holy heck Yanti! 36.6k in swimming distance in 15 days! I bow to your uber swimming skills. A 10k swim in one day is something that I cannot even fathom completing right now. You are the woman!!! |

Pro 6582 Melbourne FL | Subject: RE: September North-South Swim and/or Bike Challenge Did an OWS last night on the race course. Nice rough water swim, didn't realize how much I've missed those! 10-15mph wind was blowing straight across 1 mile of water right into the cove we were swimming. 1st salt water swallow was the 2 or 3rd stroke before I could figure out the wave action, yuck!

Veteran 109 San Mateo, California | Subject: RE: September North-South Swim and/or Bike Challenge OK, the real challenge for the month begins for me now. I'll be taking 3 rest days in a row to spend time with my parents while they are in town. I also just got scheduled for a business trip at the end of the month. Didn't plan on that. Biking and swimming are the toughest workouts to get in on the road. I'll be trying to put in some longer swims and rides next week. Working in family and work and training is what makes triathlon so challenging! |

I rode and the rest of the family biked to a nearby farm for some apple picking. One of my favorite fall activities! Now, I'm tryign to catchup on some stuff between the kids soccer games. Hope everyone is having a great weekend! |

Extreme Veteran 364 | Subject: RE: September North-South Swim and/or Bike Challenge Today was a struggle for me. I went on a drive with my wife to a lake about 1.5 hours away, but on the way back we couldn't find the street to take us back home. For those who have never gotten lost in a foreign country let me tell you it is not fun. Getting lost in Japan where the signs have english, but the romanization of the words might has well be in hebrew, is 10x worse! Thank goodness I've done enough staring at maps to have a general idea of the towns around where we live so I was able to get us back on track. Anyway, 4 hours later we finally get back home and I was able to gather the intestinal fortitude to run to the gym, get on a stationary bike and ride, then run back home. Thank goodness for this challenge group or there is no way I would have done all that after the exhausting day I've had! |

I was in New Zealand at the rugby world cup And I haven't been online at all in the past 10 days. I was an awesome holiday and I did still train so will update logs and sheet shortly.....I also managed to eat waaaay too much so this week will be salads, salads and more salads for me I think! |

Extreme Veteran 464 Sault Ste (Siberia) Marie | Subject: RE: September North-South Swim and/or Bike Challenge Hit the pool today with Mattie, she is getting much better at swimming. She is able to do a complete lap without stopping and is only using arm floaties now. She just needs to get a bit more confident and she will be swimming with no floaties. As long as the weather holds I will easily get my biking in, it is nice being able to commute to work and back now. Mattie finished her goal for biking, but I am sure she will get a couple more rides in now that she can ride on her own. |

Extreme Veteran 532 Northampton, UK | Subject: RE: September North-South Swim and/or Bike Challenge It looks like I miscalculated how many swims and rides I had planned for this month and have set my goals too low! I think it's only fair to adjust my goals to included the workouts I somehow missed out, so don't be surprised if my total % goes down a little this week |

Master 1989 New Jersey | Subject: RE: September North-South Swim and/or Bike Challenge Can't believe how fast the month is flying by. But without a doubt, this challenge is forcing me to get my butt to the pool. I would have easily skipped a session or two or three. I'm actually slightly ahead of pace...same number of workouts that I had planned, just have been putting in some extra yardage. |

Thank goodness for this challenge group or there is no way I would have done all that after the exhausting day I've had! Now that's coming through for the team! Echoing this sentiment, once I got scheduled for a business trip, I would have normally scaled back my planned workouts. With this challenge I am going to push through and try to keep my commitments. I jumped back in the pool today and stroked through some long sets but I am seriously lagging on the bike at this point. |
