Story: I'm another Canadian in the group, so by default get picked on by Fatty.  I live in Cochrane, AB, a pretty town near the mountains.  Actually, right next to the city Trevor lives in, but better.

I got interested in triathlon almost two years ago when I decided I wanted an actual challenge in my life.  I had never run, couldn't swim a stroke and was afraid of the deep end of the pool, so I had to spend some time working on those things.  What started as a goal to do any (probably a sprint) triathlon has become a lifestyle.  I'm not shooting for an ironman until 2014 though.  That's when it fits best with my family and the rest of my life.

Family status: Married with two kids, Sebastian (5) and Hazel (3.5).  I'm a stay at home mom, so fit my training in when my husband gets home and the two afternoons a week both kids are in preschool.

2011 races: It was my first year doing triathlon.  I did 3 sprints and one Oly.

2012 races: My "A" race is the Calgary 70.3 at the end of July.  I'll also do a sprint and an olympic beforehand, as well as a sprint at the beginning of September.  Not really planning on training for that last sprint though, as we'll be dong most of our family vacation in August.  I'm hoping to have enough residual fitness from the HIM as long as I keep running some.

Hi, my name is Kyla and I am a super speedy fish that lives in Bellevue, Washington with my hubby, Dave, who likes to just meander on his runs and when I occasionally give in to his request to run together, sometimes he just takes off at warped speed without any warning whatsoever.  It pizzes me off, but I still love him anyway.  I have two kids, named Thing One and Thing Two and they are amazing artists, athletes and just all around wonderful little humans.  Sometimes they drive me crazy but I love them more than I ever thought possible.

We have a Flat Coated Retriever that Kim mentioned up above, and his name is Trip.  I do trials with him and he is a very mischievous boy (please click on my log to see the picture that I took of him with his head poking through the top of our garbage can).  He has a sister named Lupine who is cute as can be, but she is a cat so she doesn't get too much air time.

Races, let's see.  I am a two time IM'er (both times at IMCdA).  Usually one of the first in my AG out of the water, I can keep up out there with the best of them!  Even when I am HATING it!  Last year, during training for IM #2, I tripped over a tree stump while running with Thing 1 and Trip (conveniently named) and tore something in my hamstring and had a devil of a time in the build to the race...but I kept at it, persevered and had a big PR on the big day.

I cry easily but am told that is a good thing.  I am tough as nails and will give as good as I get.  Hence one of my favorite sayings "Bite Me!".  I am super duper encouraging and can always lend an ear, a shoulder and a pep talk when the going gets rough or even when the going is great!

I can't remember all of my races from 2011, it's a blur!  But this year I've already run at least 2 Half Marathons and have Portland Rev3 on my schedule which is one week before Kim's Vineman 70.3.  Hence the difficulty in getting her up to the Pac NW!

Looking forward to another year of rocking the Foo Fighters and SWBKRUN!!!!

This year, it's all about having more fun.  More Cow Bell!!!!  (oh wait, that's not my saying, but "IT'S ALL GOOD!"

You forgot one thing......

I am a local celebrity.

Well, being a stay at home mom is easier here.  I just send the kids into the igloo when they're difficult and the snow and ice helps create a noise buffer.

In ...... again!

NAME: Dave...aka  Dino... aka Dineen....

STORY: I'm 44 and live in a suburb of Milwaukee,WI.  This is my fourth+? years of endurance sports. I finally hung up the hockey skates after 35+ years at the urging of my bride.  I think she was sick of me coming home with stitches.  I have been a very active athlete all my life and have been tolerated by this MG for 3 or 4 years, I've lost track and Wikipedia didn't have the answer???

I work full time as an Operations Manager for a Forklift dealership and cover most of the state of WI, part of Northern IL, and the UP of MI.

FAMILY STATUS: Married to Shelly for 20 years.  She is another "really short person" (keeps me in good with this MG) and have 2 daughters...one 18 (senior in HS and going to the Univ of Wisconsin in the Fall) and one 16 (junior in HS) both going on 22+.  You will receive no sympathy from me on any kid issues after living with 2 teenage daughters!

TRAINING STATUS:  I ride competitively for Team Wisconsin and recently my training has been all about the bike.  I hope to find my swim goggles and running shoes at some point in time this year......  but I am having a blast riding so only time will tell.  I am also an Endurance Nation athlete and love their approach, just not part of the" team" this year.  Fatty can be sold ........

WHAT TO I BRING TO THE GROUP:  Nothing ...... but my competitive nature, my ability to stir the pot, some decent swim and transition splits, and I know a thing or two about the bike.

2011 Races:  70.3 Racine in 200 degree weather, 3 Olys, 2 Sprints, 3 Criteriums, 6 Cyclocross races, etc.

2012 Races: Like I said earlier it is all about the bike for me in 2012.  My A-race is a 10 day stage race in June plus I hope to ride a full Cyclocross season this fall.  I still plan on doing some tris but still working that calendar out for the year.

INSEAM: 32 inches

STORY:  I am 38 and live in the burbs of Boston. This is year three of the new old me.  I was active my entire life up til I got married, moved to the burbs and had kids. After four years of putting on the pounds, I got fed up and set myself 2 goals for 2010; run a 1/2 marathon and do a sprint tri.  I'm not fast but I love competing.

Family Status: Currently married with 2 fabulous kids; 1 boy (Nicholas, 5.5 yo) and 1 girl (Alexa, 3.5 yo).  No pets and after a recent stint of petsitting a lab mix puppy, no pets in my future.

2011 Races: Timberman (1/2 IM) ended up being my only tri, did 2 HMs, and a couple shorter fun races.

2012 Races:  sprint tri in May, 1/2 IM in June, possibly a 2 mi charity swim in July, and the pièce de résistance... IMMoo.

What I bring to the MG:  Not much if anything. I am still building experience in triathlons, so I take more than I give.  I do have background in many sports so I do try to speak up when I can offer perspective.

Picture: Talk about pressure to produce a cool race photo. Sadly, this is all I got.

No racing.  With the warmer weather, and the holiday, first weekend planned on Cape Cod for '12.  I am really looking forward to crossing the Sagamore bridge on Friday.

My kids are my biggest inspiration.  How can I encourage them to go after their dreams if I don't go after mine? As for how to keep going when my head is about to explode?  I have no idea.  My entire athletic career my coaches kept telling me to stop thinking so I just try to turn my brain "off".  I think about something mundane and just do.

Thanks for all the perspective on this morning's pool situation.  I'm currently on the lookout for a bada$$ swim cap to prevent further incidents.  Thinking Taz.

For the new people, I post the race question each Wednesday to get us excited!

I find I use different inspiration at different points in my training.

Lately I've relied on a lot of visualization.  Just finished up three weeks of VO2 Max work for running.  Grunting it out on the TM, I told myself I was doing it all to kick butt in my next HIM run. I could actually see myself barrel a$$ing to the finish line.  As most of you know, that hasn't happened in real life so I am very hungry for it.   It got me threw those really tough workouts, my race last weekend and it better do the same this Summer for my first HIM.

I find it a little more difficult on the bike, but today doing my first set of VO2 Max intervals, I told myself I absolutely would not give up until I fell off the bike, puked or had a heart attack.  Normally if I see Watts decline, I get frustrated and stop.  Not today.  Finishing up a work hard totally spent is way better than whining about why it was so hard that I had to quit.

OK, so today's training was a swim and then hill repeats.

Still learning this whole ope water swim thing.  Today was 1250 yards in 24:39 slow but hey I didn't drown so I'm ahead of the game.

The run was 8 hill repeats about .2 miles up an 8% grade then back down a total of 3.5 miles at an average 8:30 pace.
