What is your Ironman Resume? First Full!!! I completed Ironman Muncie 70.3 once and Rev 3 Sandusky twice.

Why did you choose Ironman Florida?  Mostly because several other people in my training group are doing it.  The flat part is nice too.

What are your goals for IMFL 2013?  Realistically, I want to finish and still be able to smile for my finisher picture.  However, sub 14 hours would be great.

What are you most looking forward to?  Being in the best shape of my life.

Veterans, any advice you can give? So not a veteran.

On another note... there has been a lot of talk about lodging on here.  I just booked a 1 bedroom/ 1 bath (sleeps 4) at the Sunbird for $650 for a week.  I noticed that A LOT of units are already booked up, so I would recommend finding somewhere quick or you may risk being far away from the race site.

Quick question here. Are most booking lodging through VRBO, or the actual Condo itself??

Happy New Year! I was able to test out my new Garmin 910 today. Looking forward to using it during my IMFL training. Does anyone have tips/advice about the 910?

910 is easy to use.  The only tip I can think of would be to practice using the multisport mode before a race.  In this mode (think its under the training tab), you hit lap at the end of each sport/transition and it will automatically change your display for the next sport.  My first time using this mode was in a sprint tri and I hit Start/Stop button instead so all of my data shows up as a 15 mile swim.

I always go through VRBO.

VRBO is great.  You communicate with the actual condo owner and get to see pics of the unit you will be renting.  You can get a pretty good feel for whether or not the owner is responsible and you can see if the furniture looks really outdated etc. You can also pay online, which is just more convenient.

What is your Ironman Resume?  IMAZ 2011

Why did you choose Ironman Florida?  Warmer water than AZ!  Different venue

What are your goals for IMFL 2013?  Enjoy and challenge myself in training...Get to starting line healthy , have a reasonable swim time & experience, nail the nutrition! Aim for at least 30 min off 1st IM,  Hear my name at the Finish this time...Savor the day!

What are you most looking forward to?  Getting into best shape of my life... improving on preparation from 1st time

Veterans, any advice you can give?  I am no veteran ...!

What is your Ironman Resume?  Kona 2008

Why did you choose Ironman Florida?  Lived out of the country for the last few years and had to take a break from the sport I love.  A few friends at work are doing IMFL so I figured why not.  Interesting enough, I was registered for IMFL 2008 before I got into Kona via the lottery.  So in a way, this is just a delay from 2008.

What are your goals for IMFL 2013?  Sub 11.

What are you most looking forward to?  Making the second half of the marathon hurt.

Veterans, any advice you can give? Enjoy the day.  And make sure your nutrition is rock solid.

What condos on VRBO should I be looking for. Family and friends are coming so looking to sleep atleast 6 possibly 10 (doesn't have to be comfortably ) Would like to be within walking distance <1 mile.

Thanks

Here is a little info about me!

Name: Stefanie

What is your Ironman Resume?  IMFL 2013 is my First! But I have done Augusta 70.3 in 2010 and 2011

Why did you choose Ironman Florida?  I am a Florida girl (Lived there for 24 years) and this location is easy for the family to come and cheer at! Plus it is close to me now (Currently located in Georgia). Plus coach and I agreed this plays to my strengths better than other courses (weather and terrain

What are your goals for IMFL 2013? Finish with a smile on my face, anything else is a perk!

What are you most looking forward to?  Sounds cheesy but seeing my husband and then 14 month old son at the finish line along with the rest of my family.

Blueraiderzone - 2013-01-01 8:15 PM Happy New Year! I was able to test out my new Garmin 910 today. Looking forward to using it during my IMFL training. Does anyone have tips/advice about the 910?

I too received a 910 for Christmas. Many thanks to the husband for replacing my 7 year old 305! I have just started using it this week and would love to hear any tips from 910 experts out there.

One quick question I did have for those that use the 910. I used it for the first time in the pool this week and love it. My quick question is how do you lap your workouts? Let me explain with a fictitious workout.

If you have a workout that is a 300 pull, 300 drill, 300 pull, 300 free, how would you use your lap button.

Start, pull 300 and press stop, then after your rest press start and lap and move on to your 300 drill.

Or would you Start, pull 300, press lap and rest, then after your rest press lap and move on to your 300 drill.

Sorry if this sounds confusing. Just trying to figure out if your rest intervals are calculated into your data it you only press lap. Its a minor detail I know!

Shores of Panama, Lake Town Wharf, Sunbird (but I think Sunbird is all 1 bedroom), Long Beach Resort...all within walking distance of transition. There are a few on the run course as well, but I can't recall the names.

If you want to go less expensive, there are places all along Front Beach Rd that will be quite a bit less expensive, but not nearly as convenient.

You may also check on VRBO.com for the Boardwalk Beach Resort. I don't know that any are available but it is worth a shot. These condos are directly next to transition.

Another tidbit, the only day to cancel your condo at Boardwalk is Sept 15. I had a friend call last year on this date and was able to secure one that someone had just cancelled.

Ditto.  Boardwalk beach will be tough to get.  Just email everyone with one listed.  Sunbird is nearly all 1 bedrrom units with a few 2 bedrooms.  Lots of big places at Shores of panama and there is probably a bunch of stuff available

I hit start at the beginning of my swim and lap at the end of each set and then at the end of each rest.  I only hit stop at the end.  The rest intervals will show up as rest intervals.  Also, kick sets or any other type of drill where you aren't moving the arm with the Garmin will also show up as rest intervals.
