Skrat had some calf cramping and an maybe some hitch hiking. Beer was consumed. Skrat snuck in a kiss. Pictures were taken etc. Ugggghhh! This race was frustrating. I was on pace to crush my goal and set a new PR by 5 mins. Was running at about a 7:10 pace, with plenty left in the tank. At about mile 4 my calves started getting tight (especially the right one). I suspect it had something to do with the majority of the trail being gravel. I never run on gravel, always run on pavement. I ran through it as much as I could. It got so bad that even after stopping to stretch my calves and massage my right one, I still couldn't walk without a limp. I made the agonizing decision to pull out of the race. I HATED DOING IT... I DON'T LIKE TO QUIT. But then, my day got much better. I hitched a ride from a spectator...and checked out a lot of really hot ladies. On the shuttle back to the start line, I met a lady, tried to get her phone #, but got shot down. LOL Then the best part of my day. Hanging out with Salty and other BT'ers! I really enjoyed meeting you Salty. And.... per Jo's orders (which I didn't mind)..... I gave Salty a kiss! All in all - I had a great day. Can't wait for the next 1/2. Sorry your race didn't go as planned. I love that you were hitting on the girlies on the bus! And of course a kiss from Salty, that totally makes the day! |

Master 6595 Rio Rancho, NM | Subject: RE: Mental Manatee Mentors Part 3--CLOSED I am pretty excited about my ride today! I went just over 4 hours (4:09 I think) and did 54.5 miles! This gives me confidence about my ride at Oceanside because today I climbed way more hills/elevation than I will see at Oceanside. My race was good fun, nothing crazy and no PRs, didn't really race it because I used it as leg one of my two leg long run. I"ve got a half in 4 weeks and have done zero training! But I got to hang with my friend Becky for a couple hours and got some fresh (but quite cold and blustery) air! I met Yanti felt her up and showed me her underwear and nibbled my shoulder. I then won Maccas race kit. Good day Pics or it didn't happen! Yanti has pics. I'm feeling her up and a table opposite of about ten people could not believe their eyes! Then she shows me her 'i love NZ' underwear! Yanti says I taste delicious... |

Elite 4435 | Subject: RE: Mental Manatee Mentors Part 3--CLOSED More detail around Macca's kit. So Macca does this podcast - listen if you like a little humour! It's MaccaX Uncensored I think. Anyway his dude Aaron that works for him in LA said - come on guys we need some reviews - if you do a review you go into the draw to win Macca's race kit....one he hasn't worn. Macca has the nicest race kits out there. And I reviewed. They did a video of Aaron 's son drawing the prize and it was my name - yes Jo Baxas!!!! Of course i have demanded it is delivered with Macca inside it. And now for today's news. The local tri club organised a swim of the IM course. I dragged three friends down from squad, then picked up another piglet in the car park who I know from MaccaX.com. There were at least 100 maybe 150 of us down there. Two kayakers one to lead and one to stay at the back. We started, out past the pier, about 750m I think, then turn left not sure how far. Then turn around and swim 1.6km across, then back to the start 1.1km. The course was a little short which I think was the last 1.1km probably only 800m. Anyway - I was out the back but not last about 4 or 5 behind me. But I wasn't far behind the main pack. I hydrated terribly yesterday - coffee coke and wine....and ate badly, fries. So I was wary of cramp which I got for the whole swim but I now can swim through it. Anyone want tips let me know. I drafted the whole swim. They pointed out landmarks to use on race day, a huge conifer on a hill, a small house with a red roof etc. I wanted to give up when we were out so deep and I was a little freaked out, but conditions were perfect etc. I decided I would draft this chick in a white cap, if she gave up so would I but I would follow her feet to the moon and back! She didn't give up - we finished - we measured it at 3.5km and my time 1.18. i am delighted! So IM prediction is on race day with same conditions less than 1.30. Bad conditions 1.45 That gives me 9 hours to get the bike done. F8ck Yeah! I AM DELIGHTED. |
