Heck $100k gets a nice house. I'm on my way.. 450K gets you a 500 square foot apartment here That would buy an entire block of houses in my hometown. $450K would buy 1.8 houses in my neighborhood. But it's all relative right? Housing markets are different, cost of living is different. I could sell my house here and buy a phat place in my hometown (in Texas). But we choose to live in the Pacific NW. Over 3000 sq. feet w/1-1/3 acres is close to that market value for my home. It will be paid off within 10 years. *knocking on wood* Right now - $250K will buy you a 4 bedroom, 2 full & 2 1/2 bath, 3 car garage, finished basement, on a quarter of an acre here. Paid price was around 285K. Original setup was 4 bedrooms, 2-1/2 bath, 3 car garage, UNfinished basement. Basement finished now w/gas fireplace, wetbar (come on down!), 1 bedroom and 1 full bath, thus market value now. |
