"Oh look! Vot ees thees vonderfool mug?" 2. "I like thees mug!" (Me: grrrrrrr ... ) She is really cute, though. She's turning 79 soon and I really, really, really hope I hold up half as well as she has by the time I'm, say, 35. (Oh well ... too late ... shootin' for 40) You wouldn't believe how many of my boyfriends would have ditched me in a heartbeat for my mom. One of them (who is now twice married and has kidlets) still writes her every single Mother's Day and her birthday. |

I'm running long on Saturday (probably 14-15 miles) and then on Sunday it looks like I will be waiting for the tropical storm/hurricane to pass. Thankfully, the projection is for it just to give us a glancing blow before it heads up into the panhandle. Unfortunately, that means my planned 3 hr bike ride will have to take place on the trainer. I hate the trainer! 1 hr trainer rides drive me nuts, so i'm not optimistic that i will actually get this work out done. ENERGETIC PIGLET MOVIES. I have been watching the Deadwood series for my mid-week trainer rides. They are not very energetic and there is only one person i would classify as a "piglet" (hello Timothy Olyphant), so I guess i need to find a better choice for Sunday. You could switch to Justified. More Timothy Olyphant and it is a great series. I hear he is also very entertaining in "the Girl Next Door," but I didn't actually watch that one. |

Science Nerd 28760 Redwood City, California | Subject: RE: Yanti & Salty RidiculoSnarky Almost Intelligent-Charming Manatees PART 4 - Full I ran today. Was supposed to be 3 miles, but it ended up just over 2.5. It was really hard. My ITB is flaring up, my hip or pubic bone is really sore. I'm a wreck. I figure it was most important that I tried. |

Massage, do you have a foam roller for your ITB? Rest - oh and start sleeping before 4am maybe...just a thought I am up ready to go for a run - it's 6.30am. Yuck. It is light barely. Heading down to the beach for a flat run I think just 10km (I love that i write just 10km these days!) Got an ex colleague coming later to borrow my old roadie (not old at all really) Anyway she got hit by a car a few weeks back and has been outof action for 5 weeks, her brand new Giant written off. Still waiting on insurance co. to pay up and she's doing a Ride for Cancer in October so needs to get back out there before her confidence is gone completely. I said borrow my old one until you get your insurance, she's delighted. It served me well for HIM so it's nice to pay it forward sometimes |

I'll be back to reality tomorrow, but it looks like we'll be busy prepping for hurricane Isaac. If it's not one thing, it's another. Enjoy your weekend |

I started up with classes this week -- teaching five different classes. I am swamped. No riding, no swimming (both pools closed). The good news is that the college pool opens this afternoon and they have scheduled 40 minutes of swimming on Tuesdays and Thursdays for "faculty swim." I have a race in two weeks. I won't do that again -- no triathlon once classes start. That's my new rule. |

Yeah, me too, but it was the swim for his lungs and crashing on the bike for his blood that really worried me. So now that he's staggering (at what would be antelope speed for me) along on the run, I do feel much better. |
