It is an event that has been going on since the DH graduated from college. About 15 years ago the event moved here. Folks come in on Friday, we have a big gumbo cook out with really bad rock music on Saturday evening (remember me talking about the group " The Suffering Bastards"?). Then really really bad acoustic music on the portch after we turn off the amplifiers (we think we sound good after midnight and know ALL the words to those songs). Then the St Alfonso's pancake breakfast on Sunday morning with redneck hour 'douvres on Sunday afternoon. Ya, party like your still in college with the college age kids shaking their heads. Come on and join us. I believe that Robin is making the gumbo for the frisbee tournament. Sounds fun! |

We don't make gumbo in the bathtub. It is too hard to heat evenly we use a ... are you ready.... a big 55 gallon cooking pan from a commercial kitchen over an outside propane burner. We do stir it with a (Cleaned) refurbished canoe paddle though. Yes Neal, you all should come on over. Kendra, if you get a chance, mapquest Pine Gables and the directions come up. I am going to go make beds and put out towels then drink some champagne! Kim, I'll save some for you. but you better come quick. We have other beverages for the rest of you all too. |

Thank you for clearing that up. In college there was a fraternity that would serve alcohol from a bathtub, but that didn't have to be heated like gumbo. |

My sprained ankle is turning black and blue. I'm trying the KT tape on it today. I got to tell my staff today that i'm going to another branch. Some were shocked. Of course my two problem people aren't here today. Kendra, sorry about the sprain. KT tape might be too *giving* for a sprain. Do know a PT that could check you out and possibly tape it for you? I have an ankle brace from several years back when I tore up my ligaments pretty badly. I wore that the last two days, but wanted a break from it today and I'm not on my feet too much today, so I thought I would give it a try. I'm a pro at wrapping my ankles with ace bandages also. My first sprain I was 12. Now i'm 50+ and have had lots and lots of practice. Thanks for your advice though. Are you any good with knees? If so, I'll pop down and you can have a go on mine. Nope. Got a real brace for the knee also, but haven't had that problem as long as the ankles. |

I'm feeling a little better but not 100% I seem to wear out very fast. I do something then I need to sit down and rest, do something else then need to rest. You'd think I was a 90 year old woman. My sister is on her way up and when she gets here we are taking all the kids to a pond fishing. Then this evening we are having a bonfire, I'll pick up enough supplies so you can all make mountain pies! I'm hoping the rain holds off, the radar is clear right now. |

I only covered about 2.5 miles total but was doing a lot of running in place and balance drills. My quads and knees like this but my calves are screaming. Not easy moving from a heal strike shuffle to a mid-foot landing. Hmmmm. Hope everyone else has a good one! |

Did the HIM bike course on Sunday with some BT'rs. It was hothothot! also didn't have enough fluids with me..time to get the aero bottle I have been putting off! ended up with a headache, neck is a bit stiff today. legs were trashed after the ride and have no idea how I will run a 1/2 mary after the bike! Today I feel good, went for a 40 min walk...so wanted to run but could feel the hip pulling so played it safe. I see the PT again tomorrow. I have been a good patient and have been doing my stretches! But know it will take more to be able to run. I have a swim, vive and 3 water classes today. Have a great day all! When is your race? I had to contend with some pretty mean wind by the end since I didn't get on the road nearly as early as planned. I may or may not have been sleeping off a hangover this morning. Now time to lunch, nap, run. In that order. Hope everyone is having a great Saturday! |
