Started feeling a little sick last night so decided to sleep in and take a day off. Woke up feeling worse, so I'm happy I did, although I didn't sleep well. Hopefully this passes. Planning on hitting masters practice tomorrow, and then I have a charity football tournament.

Ever done aqua jogging?  It's boring as heck but it's a decent, non-impact workout.

I LOVE aqua jogging but can't do it because my pool is only 4 feet deep. So I've got to go with Water Aerobics....

Feel better soon! I've got a nasty cough myself so I know how you feel!

Dave, thanks for sharing your personal life with us: after a few years here, I feel that BDAS is a real group of friends and as we do with friends that we meet, we are here to support each other and enjoy good and not-so-good moments. Hope the "storm" goes by as quick and smooth as possible.
Getting out there for a jog or a ride will for sure not only make you feel much better, but also improve your weight, so again, feel better.
Not here to give you tips, just to push you out the door, and engage on a challenge with us: weight? Sure Nicole's nutrition advices (1-per-month) would be great! Race wise, HIM for an ironman like you is a doable plan - in my mind for 2018 I have a full marathon under 4h in April, and 1 HIM in May. I will do also a half marathon in May in Edinburgh as my son just moved there for college, so any excuse is good to visit him....

I was proud of myself today. A friend took me out for lunch to my favorite burger joint and I only ate half the burger and had asparagus instead of fries. Then I resisted the urge to skip a second day of workouts and went straight to the gym and got in 45 minutes on the bike and did a little weight training.

Masters practice yesterday. Thanks to our time trial on Monday my critical pace is 1:39 (prior it was 1:47). So we did a 500y warmup, 6x75y kick (all strokes), then we did a butterfly set (4x25 drill, 2x50 on 1:15, 3x), a breaststroke set (2x25 drill, 2x50 swim on 1:10, 3x), then 9x100 at critical pace on 1:50. I only missed my time once, but was hurting a lot.

Had a charity football tournament after (2 games) that involved a lot of drinking. It was a lot of fun but my body is QUITE sore. Now I'm procrastinating writing a term paper...I guess I should get on it.

Way to go! I will do the same tonight at dinner - nice 7km run this morning, freezing cold but beautiful sunshine.

Way to go, Dave, I love asparagus!!! It’s the wonder veg!

I have finally done it... I had a Bell’s Two Hearted Ale last night!! (Actually 2, but who’s counting..). It was tasty!
Found a great gym in Charlotte, NC that the hotel van would take me to and it was free which is good. Got in a 3 mile treadmill run today and some weights. I have a very late night of work starting at 17:00 and I won’t get in until after 01:30 in northwestern Arkansas. Time for a shower and hopefully a quick nap.

Got a quick workout in today after leaving my family for the evening. It was only thirty minutes but at least I got it in.

Gonna whine for a second - tonight is my first official night away from my family in 20 years. It's a . If you have a significant other make sure to hug them and tell them you love them. If you're a prayer - please pray I make it through this crappy time. Thanks!

I'm in, and 2 is enough for a challenge. Any others are welcome to join tho

The goal is to go against the natural order of things and lose instead of gain weight over the Christmas/New years period.

Starting weigh in is Monday 4 December.

Weigh in every Monday

Final weigh in is Monday 8 January?

Winner is the one who loses highest % of starting weight, (not total weight lost as those of us with more to play with should get higher numbers easier)

Hey, folks.  Got in a couple of trainer rides since last checking in, this morning's was AWFUL.  VO2 max intervals @ 110-120% FTP.  I failed miserably on the 120s.  Will hopefully get in swim this afternoon...my daughter isn't feeling well so not sure she will go to practice (which is when I swim).

Had a crazy beer this weekend - Troeg's Mad Elf...over 12% ABV.  I swear it tasted like carbonated mulled wine.  Not my style, so I stuck with Lagunitas IPA (a go-to for me).   Good news - my local distributor is carrying Bear Republic Racer 5 IPA again - it's really hit or miss when we get that here.

@Dave - happy thoughts your way.  That sucks especially with the holidays coming up.  And good job with getting to the gym and managing food intake.

Good luck everyone with the weight challenge...I'm hammering the bike this month so with any luck it'll result in some lost weight, but my holiday eating habits may impact those results.

Oh man, Monday weigh ins are the worst! haha I am in though. Starting weight this morning is 158 lbs.

I did not get very far on my term paper yesterday. Definitely wish it was the same as swimming! Gonna be a last minute paper for me, which is fine. I am better with that motivation anyway

Getting out of bed in the morning is getting harder and harder. I woke up early but laid there for awhile instead of going on a run. If I can hammer out my term paper during/shortly after work I might go on a short run or go to the gym to get a workout in.

I've fallen off the track the last two days and need to hop back on ASAP. Having my kids in one place and my living space in another is causing me all sorts of hassles because I only get some much time to see my kids and when I leave their home it's late in the evening. But I will try to get in a workout today in between work and all the other things I have to get done.

Hope everyone else is doing well!

Got my paper done at 11:20pm last night, so did not get a workout in, but I did manage to make it to boot camp this morning. Going to go for a run tomorrow morning, maybe swimming Friday and boot camp Saturday.

For anyone who was interested in learning the principles of Intuitive Eating, I will begin posting next week! I ordered a workbook that has activities to help practice the principles and I want share with you guys, so it will take some typing and I want to complete them myself first.

Nicole, this will be great! I look forward to your posts!

I am up about 3 pounds from where I was a few weeks ago. I had a bad influence captain I flew with - lots of food and crew meals which included cheesecake. I ate cheesecake twice in 4 days! It sounds great (and it was!), but when you’re just sitting for hours and can’t always get a workout in it becomes dangerous.

Jennifer- Completely understand that, doesn't take much to persuade me to eat cheesecake

Nicole - really looking forward to that...eating better and/or smarter would be a huge help (see above comment...ha)

DQ - Hope things are trending in right direction, interested to hear if you've been able to get back after it...just jump right back in, who cares if you miss a day (especially for family)

I was able to get two swims and two runs in this week, I'm still in "get in swim and run shape" mode before I can think about starting a consistent training plan in January. I entered a local 5k here in TN (Mt. Juliet) and it's supposed to be 26 overnight going into Sat. so that should be interesting...ha Anyways hope everyone is well and I'll keep you posted on how the run goes. The weekend is in sight...
