The trip was great.  (except for getting hit with a unexpected $40 "toll" due to a turf war going on).

I was just thinking about it.  The Canyon is cool, but it is SO big, it's hard to get your head around it.  It's like saying I Aircraft carrier looks cool standing 10' from it.  It is so deep and so wide (still talking about Cord's mom?)  that you really can't focus on it or comprehend.  Make sense?

I think some of the pictures the wife took tell the story better for some reason.  Me in it puts some scale to it.  I'm a little speck and only a fraction of the canyon is in the shot.

I've never been to the GC so I can't comment but from what I hear, it's amazeballs.

We should go next time we're in the LV.

Fo sho...

If you have the time though, I think we want to go to the south rim instead.  It's 4.5 hours to get there instead of 2.5.  Save $ getting into the park/reservation, but have to stay over night.

If you REALLY had time, we could go to the north rim which goes by Zion and Bryce Canyon.  Both are ridiculously beautiful and have amazing hikes.

BTW, I was talking about your Moab and Arches trip with the wife.  She wants to go, but it's a bit of a drive.  We should just do it though.  SPECTACULAR.

I've only been there once, and it was incredible, mind-boggling, and incomprehensible all at the same time.  The scale of it is just ... ridiculous.  It is so vast and deep that it kinda just flattens itself out and you can kinda lose all sense of depth when looking at it.

that was monica and my first trip together ever. We barely knew each other, but we trekked into the canyonlands four hours to find our campsite. It was ultra primitive. Amazing scenery. Encountered no other humans, but many lizards and a big ol' rattler she named Bob.

Did you get into Arches and see those and balancing rock?

Got to bike Moab if you ever can.  Should be on every cyclist's bucket list, IMO.

Yeah we drove around Arches for about a half day. Saw the sites and hiked up to the one arch that everybody takes pictures of. Very cool. Then we hauled backside to denver for a five-star hotel and steaks.

I did the trip to through Zion to the Grand Canyon and then on to Vegas as part of the Epic Journey Motorcycle Trip back in 2007 and it was seriously amazing.  We got up at 4am to watch the sun come up over the mountains - there aren't any words to describe how entirely breathtaking and beautiful that was.

Definitely take Tala to Arches - another spectacular place to see nature at its finest.

Awesome wet morning TAN!!!! My guess is that we have had a minimum of 8" of rain in the last two days with another day to go. I was letting my pool drain to fix a leak at a fitting, and it was at least 8" low and now is overflowing. I took some pictures of our receiving dock area yesterday and the ditches couldn't flow out quick enough and we had over 8" of water sitting in our dock area when I snapped the pictures and it was still raining at the time, but it was near the end of the day, so I don't know how high it got before dropping. This morning at 5:30 it was back to normal with just wet concrete from the light rain.
