How has everyone's weekend been?  Hope races went well for those of you who raced.  I'm dealing with a gimpy right leg/ankle.  Have been doing stretches and foam roller and trying not to run so it heals up.  Did take the bike out yesterday and enjoyed it very much.  Can't wait to get a helmet so I can take it out for real!!!!  Swimming today.  What does everyone else have planned?

Heal quickly.

I rode 17 miles on the bike this am.  Assuming the winds don't hit the 30mph I just heard from the weatherman (glad I got the biking in early!), I have to rake a lot of leaves this pm.  I also have to finish putting my new bike rack on the top of my car.

Hope your leg/ankle heals up fast for you.  We skipped church this morning & I got my run in then went for a quick breakfast, and I'm going swimming this afternoon.  I got my bike back from the shop, so if the rain holds off for a while after I get back from swimming I wanna take my bike out for a couple of spins around the lake.  The YMCA's pool doesn't open for another half hour.  I think I will nap for a bit until I go swimming. Just some core work on the agenda today.  Feeling kinda crappy.  Back is killing me, bit of a headache, leg aches....I sound like an crotchety old lady.

We bought a new bed about 5 weeks ago, a Tempur-pedic.  Friends of ours just raved about the one they recently bought and since we needed a new mattress decided to try it.  I was having morning back pain with the old mattress (I'm embarrassed to admit how old it was.  Let's just say we've been married 25 years....) Anyway, figured a new bed would help.  WRONG.  I have worse morning pain now and it's not going away as quickly.  People have said you need to get used to the way you sleep in a tempurpedic and eventually it will be ok.  Things are getting worse.  Of course, it doesn't help that I'm going through this hip/leg thing at the same time.  Makes we wonder how much the bed is affecting that.

The boys both went back to school today.  I'm going to sleep in my son's bed for this week.  He has a new conventional mattress.  It will be interesting to see how the back feels.  We have 90 days to return the bed.

Anyone here have any experience with a Tempurpedic bed?

Ok, I'm back.  Turns out having the husband home does not mean that it's easier to get workouts in, in fact it's the complete opposite.  Granted if it hadn't been 6 months since I last saw him maybe it would be easier to pick workouts over time with him.  Anyway, he's back to work tomorrow so I'm back to a normal schedule as well which means workouts!  I hope it's not too hard to get back into it all but I'm thinking I've got a pretty rough week ahead of me.

For those of you with races coming up, good luck!  There's quite a few of you so keep us posted on how they go.

For the injured, that's never fun.  I hope your PT goes well and you see some significant healing!

For the rest of you McFuzzies, have a great week!  I plan to be checking in more often than I have the last few weeks. : )

Good afternoon!  I get to report a H-U-G-E PR in my half-marathon today.  My only other HM was 1:58:24 (granted, a hilly course).  I've run 1:52 on training runs including one last Sunday, so my hopes were high to completely blow away my current PR.  This race is known for being flat but with brutal winds and today delivered.  Warmer than predicted (which is also a wildcard for me).  Figured if I could just run like I did last week, I'd PR by 7 minutes.  A little faster and I'd break 1:50.

Clicked off the first mile in 7:42 and thought "whoa!!  slow down..." was running an 8:07 pace at the 3-mile mark (after the first headwind mile) and kept pretty close to 8:00 most of the time.

Today's finishing time:  1:45:43 and an 8:04 pace!!!!

Ree … some shop ruined your aero bars and YOU had to buy new ones?… hmmmm

McFuzz!! YAY PR!!!

Suz .. somehow the ab ripper doesn’t give me the same joy…
I tried the Tempur-pedic in the store and hated it. My mattress is firm underneath with a snuggly pillowtop.Love it.. I also tried the sleep number at home for a while. Apparently my sleep number is unlisted. ;-) Back it went.

SJ – I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t have let him out of my sight. ? Good choice.

Gamer! Rest and Ice, rest and ice… ::sigh::, glad you enjoyed the bike ride! Nice!! I thought the helmet would be easy to buy.. turns out there are a LOT of them and I probably didn’t get the right thing. Hope you have some tips from someone who knows about them.

I drove 4.5 hours to Tampa on Friday... saw Dolphins playing alongside the bridge! Got up for a quick run... Went to Yankees Spring training game YAY! Drove 2 hours to my friends house. Ate, drank, slept. Played 18 holes. GORGEOUS day... swung the club enough that I think we can call it exercise. Here's to a great week working off the hot dogs and beer!

Well done on the 1/2 mary PR! That is fabulous! I'd give anything to finish at 2:30 let alone under 2!Did my longest ride of the year - so far - 48 miles. I also rode 27 yesterday. My arsebones are not thanking me however. Ouchies. Got to get it done though. STP is a little over 200...

Life is good.  Got to ride outside with the boys.  Play time.  2 hours with 3 X 10 mins @ 100% PLUS 4 vo2 for a minute each.  Pacelines rock.

Ran 7.5 after that.  Slow ...legs trashed after the ride.  All good. Normally bricks don't follow that hard of a ride.  Got the Garmin 310XT working after a call to the company.  Hope it holds up.  Been giving me fits ever since I recharged it after the winter.

Did 3 hours on the trainer looking at spin scan yesterday to improve my efficiency so both legs are working at the same level.  I've got a ways to go with that.

Going to run and do strength today, bike and swim Tuesday/Thursday, easy spin and run Wednesday, Rest day Friday.  Have a great week.  Stay healthy.

Hiya McFuzzies,

I'm fly'n high this morning... had a fantastic race yesterday. I went in unsure of myself due to last two long training runs being less then satisfactory but the race went perfect. I felt good and steady, did it in 2:24 which is just under an 11:00min pace. Thats includes one stop because I thought I had a pebble in my sneaker which turned out to be a nasty blister on the ball of my foot, ouch...I'm going to post a race report today and will post a link when I do. SO HAPPY!! YEA YEA YEA RUNNING!

PS. The asmazing thing is I dont hardly feel sore at all today, unlike after EVERY training run. I think it is because I was having so much fun during the race.  Its FASCINATING how psychological running is!

also, CONGRATS MIKE, YOU ROCKED IT!!!
