Played two volleyball matches last night. Lots of jumping! It was a great workout and I feel like I'm jumping higher than I have in a long time.

I'm going to take a break from running for a little while. I have been having some knee pain (outside of my left knee). I know it's not my IT band b/c I've had that problem before. Was thinking it might be a meniscus tear. It was feeling a lot better at the end of last week (I'd actually forgotten about it), but it's sore again after the race on Saturday, so I think I'm going to focus on swimming for awhile and let it heal a bit.

Weight loss challenge. Haven't heard any updates! I'm up a little bit from last week, at 157 lbs. I drank A LOT of wine last week so I'm not surprised. Going to be better this week!

Heading to Puerto Rico in a week and a half so that is my extra motivation.

Yea, great race Nicole..and good luck with the new job Dave. Again, don't worry about what has happened just control what happens from here on out. You got this and we know you can get creative in getting a workout in, go for it.

Also, forgot to mention after my race last weekend that my new home brew was ready and very good. I think I mentioned a while back that I got a home brew kit for my bday (Northern Brewer) and had started that process. Well race day (last weekend) was four weeks and go time. It's a Chinook IPA, not terribly hoppy for an IPA but a really good beer especially coming from someone who has never done it before. Asked for a few more for Christmas so we'll see how this new hobby evolves.

Anyways, hope everyone is doing well and having a good week so far. We have a Christmas luncheon on Thursday and off Friday so shorter week this way. Then we'll be headed to Kansas for the holidays with the in-laws. Everyone have a great week and good luck with your training.

There is nothing better than enjoying your own homebrew! I hope Santa is good to you and you get a bunch of kits. Let me know if you have any questions - i've been homebrewing for eight years I think and I love it.

How's your training going after your race?

Today I was rushed and had a donut for breakfast but I stopped the bleeding with a bagel and an apple at lunch so that was good.

After work (I'm training to be a car salesman), I hit the gym and got on an exercise bike and also did some weight training. I know I got a good workout because my arm is shaking pretty good tonight.

Hope you all are enjoying a good week!

Glad to hear you have been eating well! And I hope training at your new job goes well! Keep us posted!

Went to boot camp this morning and got my a$$ kicked, per usual. Also found out that we are postponing our trip to Puerto Rico. There goes that motivation! I'm bummed but also relieved. There was a lot of tension around this trip b/c of the conditions down there. But I really really need some vitamin D, and wanted the sunkissed skin version of it

Nice job, Dave.  Good luck with the career shift...I've done it a couple of times and it's worked out for me.  Good getting to the gym, too.  You're probably going to be pretty sore today and tomorrow from the weight lifting.  Hang tough, brother.

This morning was 5:45 AM spin class for about an hour and then 30 minutes on the treadmill @ 9% incline.  Still incorporating some light jogs in the mix.

It'll probably be the first of the year - I'm going tomorrow but around 10 AM with my daughter as she won't be able to make her practice Friday night.  Ditto for next Friday.

75' on the trainer, 2 x 20' @ 88 and 92% FTP...the last one hurt a bit.  This was a sort of practice run for my FTP test next week.  That is REALLY going to hurt.  I haven't taken one in almost three years and I'm just guessing on my FTP being 250 right now.  I'll bet it comes in pretty close but I'm hoping a little higher.

Couldn't fall asleep last night so didn't make it to swim practice this morning. Just heard from a teammate that they did about 4300 yards in an hour and a half...so kind of happy I chose my bed, although I could've used that workout to burn off some of the crap I've been eating this week. Also haven't had a chance to do the intuitive eating stuff. Starting up again in the new year!

Weekly goal update:

5K in the pool
4 hours on the bike/trainer/spin
1 hour on the treadmill doing whatever my body permits me to do
focus on healthy eating habits

Sorta done (4K), done and then some, done, and meh.

This week's goal is "don't die during my FTP test".    This is a planned recovery week after like six straight weeks of increasing training volume.

I had a crappy week last week so I have just one goal this week:

1) WORK OUT THREE TIMES FOR AT LEAST THIRTY MINUTES

If I don't - I'm gonna give myself a Coors Lite Penalty. I've got to get going a drinking crappy beer may just be the motivation to get my butt in gear!

Merry Christmas, all! I hope you are all healthy and working toward your goals!

3 miles 2 days ago and weights, 8 mile walk the day before. Yesterday a very long walk through NYC. Today, flying all morning and now at Detroit for an overnight. Massive headache and very tired so to bed with me!

She can kick faster than I can swim if she really tries.  Swims around a 1:00 flat 100 SCY.  I can't even do 75 in that.  And the scary thing is that she's not even that fast relative to her peers.  There's a 16YO girl who swims around 54 flat and sub-2 200  .

We probably do swim workouts together maybe 25-30 times a year...it's like a recovery day for her and about kills me.  LOL

Hope you all had a great Christmas.  Two straight days off for me and let's just say those two days did not meet my nutrition goals.

This week is a little bit of everything at the gym today, plus I'm going to swim a 200 TT just to see where I am.  Short intense ride tomorrow then my 20-minute FTP test Thursday.  I'm only kinda joking about "surviving the test" as a goal.  I haven't put forth that kind of painful effort in a long time.

Hi all!

I haven't posted in a while, but I just wanted to say thank you for the encouragement & help I got from you all earlier this year.

I went from being a very out of shape Dad to a very healthy one, completing 3 triathlons, loads of shorter races & a half marathon a couple of weeks ago. I really can't believe what a great year it has been & this group got me rolling.

Much appreciated & good luck with all your endeavours in 2018!

Ben:

So glad to hear it. This group has worked wonders for its many members since it was founded back in 2012. Glad you got some BDAS love!

Happy new year to you!

It's Tuesday night and I am well on my way towards earning myself a Coors light penalty for not meeting my weekly goals. All I have to do is exercise three times to avoid drinking a warm Coors and I'm running out of time.

I'm moving tomorrow at that will probably cost me a trip to the gym. Sad part is that I probably would have made it happen back in the day. Hopefully, I can resurrect some of that spirit tomorrow and make it happen.

Hope every one is well!

So ^^^this didn't happen yesterday.  Spent the day day-drinking instead.  Had an assortment of mass market, but decent IPAs (Lagunitas, Harpoon, and Sierra Nevada).  Not sure if I deserve a CLP based on the fact I was drinking decent beer.  I'll let the group decide.

Got in a 30-minute race primer workout and a quick Zwfit test ride this morning.  FTP test tomorrow.

I hope everyone had an amazing holiday. I also did not complete my goals. I was somehow only at 178.6 when I weighed in this morning...honestly no clue how I wasn't at least at 163 for all I ate and drank this weekend. I did not work out at all until this morning, where I got destroyed in boot camp. Now that Christmas is over though I feel really good about getting back into eating well and focusing on fitness and health. I will likely start competing in some swim meets soon.

Mike, 1:00 flat?! Wowsers. That is fast.

I hope you got it in! If not, there is still time! Including today there are still 4 days left in the week! Five if you count Sunday!
