I'm nervous. The workplace is at a cross roads right now. Work is taking a LONG time to get done and the boss is starting to get PISSED. As of now, it looks like I'm on the good side of that. rRegardless of my copious time on BT, it seems like I get enough done to look like I'm working. So it's me and the boss "against" the rest and we need to lay down the law. (however, as much as I screw off, there is a LOT more going on outside my office).

So, I stay in good graces with the boss (he asked if I knew any good engineers 'like me' we could hire), but may lose some "trust" among the staff because I (and the boss) have to take a stand about the unproductivity.

I feel a little guilty because I do spend a lot of time in TAN and could be more productive myself.

I suggested a "sit-down" with the entire staff to talk about this so it looks like we are not singling anyone out. We may even have to cut back internet since I see lots of people watching TV on it (yes, at work)

I'm very uneasy right now and a little anxious.

I think the way to handle it is to say "look, we're all using the internet too much, so everyone is going to cut back." That way, fingers can't be pointed.

And if people aren't working, I suspect there are root causes that aren't the internet - its something else.

Fire someone for `overuse of internet for personal reasons while on company time' and the rest will fall right in line.

I'm annoyed.  I cut my toe on a rock in the river yesterday.  I think it's infected from the nasty water in the river.

Mmmm.  Butterscotch sundae.

Very strange that this thread comes up, a few minutes later I receive an e-mail from someone in our building that they are celebrating their birfday and provided ICE CREAM in the company freezer!  They had ice cream sandwiches, popsicles, and drumsticks.  I just had a drumstick, which had chocolate inside!  mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Jealousy resides in my heart.  If we don't get thunderstorms tonight and I get to go on my bike ride, I'm totally stopping at Bridgeman's afterwards.  Hard ice cream is the way to go, y'all.

OK I have an interview at 3 p.m. So that gives me 35 minutes to go hunt down some ice cream. Now you'd THINK there'd be ice cream shops in downtown Chicago. But you'd be wrong.

so do you need to show your freak flag to ride said bus?  I didn't know that there were such cool benefits to being a freak... or is that only because Madison is such a cool place?

You're supposed to wear sunblock even if it's cloudy. UV rays pass through clouds.
