kns57 - 2009-10-05 12:50 PM Okay, who is doing notes for those of us who can't keep up with the posting?  What did I miss over the last four days besides 40 pages of post padding.

not post padding....very meaningful conversation with great motivation!

skrtrnr - 2009-10-07 7:51 AM TOTO, I HAVE A FEELING WERE NOT IN KANSAS ANYMORE.

woke up to wind.  started at 3:45 and was NON-STOP.

we have this really big-azz tree right outside our bedroom window.  we've had windy conditions before, i always worry that the tree is gonna fall right through the window.

wind=anxiety=fitful nights sleep.

but....at least the tree didnt fall.  whew!

heading indoors today, no need to risk getting blown off my bike/the road.

4x800 intervals ON TAP.

yippy skippy.

RUN HAPPY and watch out for air-born projectiles.

I woke up to wind this morning, too. I'm not sure what time it started but it may explain why I didn't sleep well last night. I want to swim tonight so I'm planning on just running on the treadmill while I'm at the Y. I don't want to blow away, that would hurt the team statistics for the month.

ANN.

just think if TWO of us blew away....that'll sink the team for sure.

dont wanna have to pour concrete in my brandy new Brooks.

nor tether myself on my Jamis.

headin' indoors sounds like a GOOD plan to me.

serendipity - 2009-10-05 3:32 PM Just thinking back to this time last year, when I started running again after 10 years.  Running a 5K then was just a lofty goal, and now I'm doing that for my short runs.  What a difference a year makes!

ohhh so true!!

ilucy2 - 2009-10-05 6:42 PM Well I got my lil run in this afternoon. We bug bombed the house friday before we left town, I am thinking my gym did not get aired out very well. I am wondering if it is time to find my asthma inhalers or if I inhaled a butt load of bug bomb. It felt like I was trying to breath through mud. Really gasping for air, I am thinking my DD could hear me in the living room, she kept trying to ask me what was wrong.

hope you are ok!!

I wonder if Stacie got stuck in her spare room/closet with all the junk and her family is looking for her?

i'm here.  i'm here.  i'm here!

the beast of a room wasnt as beastly as i thought.

a bag for garbage.

a bag for Goodwill.

a bag for my friend whose son is a few years younger than my youngest.

and (ashamed to admit it) Christmas decorations that my dh STILL needs to put up in the attic.

i suppose he's figuring that in 2 1/2 months he'll have to take them down from the attic, so why bother.  LOL.

once i get all the bags outta there and get on my dhs case for procrastinating, it will be an empty room.

why we even bothered buying a 4 bedroom house, when we had a perfectly fine 3 bedroom.

we thought it would be nice for the boys to all have their own rooms (and im sure at some point they will)

but my middle and my youngest have been sharing a room since my youngest was born.

sometimes now they even end up in the same bed together even though theres bunkbeds.

ahhhh.  brotherhood.

stacieb

Stacie sounds like my house....kids sharing a room/bed. Our son is the only one with his own room and every night he asks one of his sisters to sleep with him!

serendipity - 2009-10-06 3:31 AM Good morning!  It let the dogs out this morning and it wasn't raining! Cool

Lots to get done this morning, but I've got it all planned out to get my run in while the laundry is drying.  For my warm-up I'll be pushing the vacuum around.  Teaching yoga this afternoon and evening, with a trip to the doctor with my daughter in between because she's got an earache that won't go away.

I guess I'd better get moving!  (In case I don't get back to the computer until late, I'm making chickpea curry in the crockpot for dinner.)

who let the dogs out???

WHO

WHO WHO WHO-WHO?

sorry but I couldnt resist!

Good to see I wasn't the only one thinking that.  I was a little embarrassed to type it out though

being an animal lover...I have always liked that silly song.... and because of Debs..had it in my head for the entire day! thanks DEBBIE!!! haha

disturbed275 - 2009-10-06 4:26 AM For the record, stairs are a vile, evil creation.

haha...were you standing at the bottom looking up just like in that video I sent? that is sooo true. In fact the parking they had all the athletes/runners park in for the hm was up a set of 20 or more stairs....if you did not walk up them..you had to go around a block to this ramp....there were only a few brave runners who climbed the stairs..most walked the block (and I did too!) no stairs for me!

and now the question of the day!?? how many stairs? and how long did it take you? oh and were you going up...or down those stairs?

3 flights of stairs and I had to go up and down them at least 10 times today.  Down was far worse than up.  I'm shuddering still thinking about it Darn our split level facility!

I feel your pain! hope your legs are all stretched out and ready for those climbs and descents today! good luck my freind!

And the problem with that is?  Ahh - let him leave them there until this year and make sure they get put up in the attic after this holiday season - but then again I am a male and I believe in procrastination (except for training purposes )

ah male reasoning.  gotta love it.

i half thought i should just store the decorations in the double doored closet that is in the room since its empty.  save us both the trouble of getting them in and out of the attic.

hee!

Sounds perfectly logical to me

what???????????????? your kids are locked in there???? what the heck? you do need me to come help with your kids dont you!?!? muwahahaha

skrtrnr - 2009-10-06 12:10 PM which bring up another question in mind.

is there a distance that we are 'naturally' drawn to or better at?

i have friend right now (a few friends actually) who is training for a full IM.  and she talks about how hard short distance races are ie Sprints...that she feels better suited to long distances, like 1/2 and full IMs.  thats when she really 'shines' as it 'plays' to her natural strengths/abilities.

i dunno.  another facet of the conversation...

but, i love this journey were on, dont you?

stacieb

It's not about the destination it's all about the journey, right?

Oh, and what time's dinner?

Now!

what no ringy ringy dingy ~ dinner bell to gather your bestesesss friends....like me?

kromanowski - 2009-10-06 9:34 AM Question of the Day: Does anyone else have a mental block when it comes to going beyond a certain distance?  And if you did and have pushed past it how did you do it?

Mine is the 6 mile mark...I am fine running 5 miles, 6 miles I have done once or twice and am reasonably ok but I (mentally) freak out when I think about doing anything more...I have never gone further than six.

GREAT question KATIE.

mine is 26.2.  ive been able to bring myself to contemplate running a full marathon.

last year i ran a half.  and finished w a smile on my face.

and considered what it would be like to 'have to' go another 13.1 miles.

i thought, naw, i dont think i would ever want to do that.

i will do a 1/2 IM before i do a full marathon.  theres just something not 'appealing' about that distance...for me.  (same with a full IM)

and ive decided that im not gonna 'push past it'.

if somewhere internally (for whatever the reason) ive decided a full marathon is not for me, then i figure why 'fight it'.

perhaps there will come a time when that'll change, and im completely open to that.

but for now...im content w trng for halfsies and contemplating a 1/2 IM.

stacieb

Sounds like my sentiments exactly! my brother is an IM...my daughter and niece will be racing in an IM in November...and I have no inkling to do one! very motivational for me to go bike and run...but not those absurdly long distances! not even in perfect conditions and flat course! hey, I too am considering a HIM! is there one half way in between us! what a hoot it would be to race with you! the mileage would zoom by! haha

Could you imagine the chatter from that 2-some on the HIM course?  Might get in trouble for drafting or using radios for communication on the ride

Kansas would work for you guys!

kansas? sounds doable....this is one state I have never visited. and I have lived in 40 of the 52 states! and no, Im not an army brat.

do we follow a yellow brick road??? and should I dress in red sparkly running shoes???

Did somebody say Kansas?  I may be doing that one next summer.  I am waiting to hear back on a possibly scheduling conflict.

or is that a nice way to say...you are waiting to see if Stacie and I do it...and if we do...you have a scheduling conflict and will have to do another!????????
