Still running in my pair from last September's HIM. Rotated in a fresh pair 2 weeks ago. Tried Saucony Mirages for a hot minute and they felt like crap so went back to my Ghosts. I run in shoes until they physically fall apart. The beauty of a neutral shoe with no cushioning is it never "dies." |

If there is a high in the 60s on race day, I think it's going to be pretty chilly starting off on the bike. This past Sunday I left the house for an outdoor ride at 6 a.m., and it was 51 degrees. My toes were ice blocks in my cycling shoes, and my hands were so frozen that I couldn't pull out and squeeze my water bottle. LOL I had to come back home after 2 hours and change socks because my feet were so cold. Just looking for some advice for MT. It was in the 40s for the start of IMFL in 2011. I wore arm warmers, gloves, socks and to covers on the shoes. Just pack them in your T1 bag and see how you feel when you come out of the swim. Just remember you're not going to get anything back that you drop of put in your special needs bags. Are you going to pack any of those things for MT? |

That sucks.
Hill repeats on the treadmill this morning. Tabatas on the trainer later. Cindy's having a GNO tonight so it's early to bed for the girls so I can get that trainer ride in. |

Yep. There is a soap box derby hill near my house (15 min drive), but it's the opposite direction of my office. |

I will bring toe covers, socks and arm warmers to IMMT. At the moment I don't have full fingered bike gloves but depending on the potential temperature I may pick some up. You can always make it work. Last year at Poconos the start was in the high 30s. I put on several layers in T1, none of which I had originally planned because it was so cold. |

Extreme Veteran 490 Higganum, Connecticut | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 and UHCoog's Mentor Group-Closed 3 days post IMLP: I'm really surprised at how good I feel physically. Mentally, I'm still on a bit of a roller coaster. At times I feel a bit lost now; I didn't sign up for IMLP2014, but have decided to go back and volunteer, then try again in 2015. I have a question about hydration: if you run across a dietitian, would you ask them a question on hydration for me? I drank a lot of Perform during the bike and still ended up dehydrated (I estimate between 15 and 20 bottles in 11:43:00). I was bloated and couldn't get any more down if I wanted too, but never had to pee. I hurt like hell until 1am, when the water started to get back in my system. Once I was rehydrated, I was totally fine and know in my heart that I could have done better if I was more hydrated after lap 1 of the bike. I can't tell if it was the Perform itself, salt, lack of pure water, calories, I just fumbled the hydration part. If I learn anything, I'll share it with you. I want to share more on the experience in another post. Thank you. Todd |

Member 216 Haymarket, VA | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 and UHCoog's Mentor Group-Closed Very short swim this morning. Swimming in ~90 degree pool water had me overheating quick. Apparently the night time pool attendant left the heater on high last night. The morning attendant came in to a ~100 degree lap pool. He got it down to ~90 in a little under an hour. |

I haven't had 15-20 bottles of anything in a lot of years and when I had those I certainly wasn't running anywhere but the bathroom. Your post makes me think if at a certain point we stop assimilating the liquids and sweat them right out and what can be done to help with that. Open house on Sunday which was the first anybody had viewed the house and we got two offers right off the bat and took the better of the two. The next day their financing fell through and we left a message for the second family who haven't gotten back to us. So we went from joy to dispair pretty fast. Keeping a house showing clean with a house full of kids is exhausting. Any way the listing is below if anybody is curious or even better sell it for us! http://www.trulia.com/property/3126111387-21-Medford-St-Marshfield-... |

Nice looking place dude. I am not looking forward to the day we decide to list our house.
Generally there are 2 reasons your stomach shuts down. One is heat stress and the other is intensity stress. My guess in LP it would be the latter. I know for me at IMTX it was heat stress. My HR was 147 and I still felt like drinking/eating was a painful proposition. |
