Wow so many BTers have made their log private... what gives? Why have a blog? What am I missing?

By mail, they found me after I moved.

I have been called in three times.
Once in Cambridge, MA... same week as jury selection for the British nanny/shaken baby murder trial in Cambridge, not selected.
on call several time in Los Angeles County once in Lancaster, CA ------- new courthouse, comfotable jury area... there for 3 hours, even almost made it to the courtroom before the lawyers worked out a plea deal.

Sitting here is Vista, CA on an internet connection just fast enough to justify not switching over to the cell phone.

I believe that mine is set-up to BT members.
I have a public eye job that requires me to make people not happy.

I like sharing with BT'ers knowing about my naked training runs on Black's Beach, but not the general public.

I'm talking about those who have restricted access to only their "friends" - if you are not on their friends list you can't see it.

Ha! Yeah I still don't get it!
Especially those who I used to be "friends" with... I mean really? Someone took the time to delete me off their BT friends list so I couldn't see their training log? Someone please enlighten me!

You did not just throw out that much of a set-up on TAN.

lisac957, You post enough pics on BT that I am pretty sure that I would recognize you enough for my wife and I to say, "Hi!" if you were at Black's or any of the Bare Burro 5ks.

So no... you have not seen mine.

Well, I can answer for me...

First and foremost, I don't think anyone on BT gives a crap about me anyway.  The people that do?  Text or message me anyway.  Shoot, I didn't get an inspire for like a year before I blocked it so I figured it got zero traffic anyway.  For the record, I think mine is open to friends, but after the BT upgrade, I decided to erase my entire friend list and rebuild since most were gone from BT.  Haven't gotten around to it so it's still empty.  I should probably purge by FB friends list too.  Some people haven't posted in YEARS.

Second, I don't blog, just log workouts.  I don't express my thoughts much in that format.  If I do, it's directly to people, not just random passerbyers.

Third, I'm trying to get off the whole social media bandwagon overall.  I'm tired of FB, Twitter, and BT.  I don't post on it or read anything on it anymore.

Fourth, embarrassed at my lack of training and don't need anyone to see that.

Fifth - been getting a bigger sense of judgment and attitude on BT.  I'm not going to give anyone ammo to put me down (like my advice isn't worth anything since I don't train much anymore and such).

Man, I have been off BT for a while, but the comments about a lack of activity in TAN and COJ are true.

Back in the day, that set up would have had pages of inappropriate and funny responses!

People have just stopped posting. It's not worth it in most cases anymore.
I still like TAN, but that's as far as I'll post in COJ now.

Ok, to answer the question... And avoid feeling like the creepy guy...

I really like the log in terms of ease of use and its features, especially the Garmin upload option.

I can see people wanting those features for personal use.

Personally, I like putting my logs for folks to see.

Even though I am embarrassed by my current lack of fitness and training, I find the embarrassment and potential for friendly scorn ( mostly from college buddies on Facebook) when I do bad just as motivating as the encouragement when I do well.

I hope that someone sees me race or sees my log and says, "If that old, slow, fat guy can do triathlons, I can too."

However, most people don't want to have others see their bad days or being afraid to compare with the BT studs.

The reference to not seeing past BT friends' logs makes me wonder if there is more to the story on that comment though...

I don't even care about the bigger picture (ok, I do)...

However, I really don't like feeling like the creepy guy on the internet.

Let's face it... 12 people chiming in with similar comments on the TAN-of-old is a whole lot less creepy than a middle-aged, married man making that comment to lisac.

Good-natured, inappropriate sarcasm is so much better than nasty, inappropriate sarcasm.

Training our bodies to work efficiently in Zone 2 will help us keep our HR and pace even throughout an Ironman. This theory would hold true for the bike and run portion of an Ironman race.
