Beth, congratulations on your recent race, well done!

Today I did a race rehearsal for the upcoming Challenge Roth and it was a tough day.  I ended up doing a 109 Mi / 6hr bike in up to 100F temps + 30 min brick run. I struggled a bit at the end of the bike and then the run, but happy it got done.

Updating my totals for this month.
Nothing special to report, the weekend went with no activity, the team whimped out on a night run due to the rain, I didn't feel like going on my own.
Team dynamics is something entirely different to working out alone. Choose your team wisely or the project will fall apart. At this point it seems we have 2 teams of 2, rather than 1 team of 4 as 2 girls prefer to go to the gym, rather than being on the trail...

58:31 runch. Nothing this weekend. Daughter #2 had her graduation party and our exchange student's going away party. I spent a good chunk of the weekend prepping, putting together, hosting then tearing down the party. Sunday felt like the day after a marathon.

Swim at lunch today. Nothing yesterday. Similar to Jim, we hosted a party at my house for my wife's aunt and uncle who are retiring and moving out of state. I smoked about 30 pounds of pork shoulder and did 2 beer can chickens. The pork went on the grill at 11pm Friday night and was done around 3:00 on Saturday. After a sleepless night checking on the smoker temperatures and a solid 2 hour bike in the early AM, my body told me to take yesterday off.

Back in the pool today- following the TriSwimCoach 70.3 plan with an end date of Tawas 70.3. Still not sure if I will make it but that is the plan currently. Foot still not healing like I want. Figure the discipline of a well designed swim plan will only benefit me in the long run.

Updating my totals at the halfway mark of the month. Competed in a sprint triathlon yesterday that was a last minute registration. A friend of mine who finished IMTX called me and said he had an itch to race but according to his coach he was to have no structured training or racing for 8 week. So basically he was looking for a bad influence and found it in me. I talked 2 other friends into join us and it turned into a great day of camaraderie and racing. I've posted my Garmin results and will post the race report later. One thing that stands out from this race for me is the swim. It was an ocean swim with 20+ mph winds that had the waves about two feet high and about a second apart. It was suppose to be a 500yd swim but I turned it into a 750yd swim. Sighting with those waves was difficult to say the least.

training took a bit of a hit over the weekend as I volunteer as a bike technician for the Ride to Conquer Cancer. The ride from Toronto to Niagara Fall (and vise versa) had almost 5000 riders who raised almost $19M for cancer research. I rode my motorcycle along the course fixing flats, chains and various other issues that arose.

Adding in a 1hr light jog, I have to get back at it Xterra Canadian Championship is in just 11 days!

I finished up my tour of Japan and am adding my numbers for June. It is all cycling. For the total tour, I ended up riding 3215 km, climbing 26451 meters and logging almost 164 hours in the saddle. Time to get my running and swimming back on track.

Adding Friday run (31 min), Sat bike (59 min) and Sun swim (1:15). Getting on the tri-bike after so many miles on the road bike was quite a change. It took me a little while to get my balance back, but I felt pretty comfortable after about 30 minutes.

Your training plan is a guide but you don’t blindly follow it. You shouldn’t know exactly what you are going to do until the day you are to do it.
