pocko - 2009-11-10 9:18 PM Soledad the Cheater.  I was riding around her pace for the latter part of the bike.  She clung on to my wheel very close a few miles before the last rest stop.  I peeled off at the rest stop and she was on her own or at least until she hopped onto someone else.

It was my first and it was a good day!  12:26.  Goal was to finish and I was pretty sure I could do 13:30, but I just stuck to my plan and let the day play out.  I was able to run the last five miles and I felt great the whole day.  My only regret is I must have over hydrated and ended up having to stop too many times at the rest stops.

LOL.....kind of demonstrates she was blatently cheating with so many people noticing the same person!!  She is probab;y an awesome runner who would kick my butt anyway but it still is a sucky thing to do

Whoop!

Still on an iron-high!  Getting back into the swing of work now, but yesterday I was really drained from the IM and the 10 hour drive on Monday.  Already wondering what challenge to tackle next!

My first ironman...goal was sub-12 hours.  Finished 11:08:37!!  Couldn't have asked for a much better day!

Congrats to all!

Hey, does anyone know what would've happened if the race was Sunday? The town of PCB closed all the beaches so who over rules who? Just curious...We had a Mon. night flight out but were afraid of being stranded b/c of Ida. Decided to rent a car and drive to Atlanta to make sure we got out. Not fun and as far as I know, all the flights were still on out of PC airport.

oh, bracelet is still on.

Yeah, we had fun playing in the Gulf on Sunday even though the flags were up and the plane kept flying past towing the sign that said: "Stay Out Of The Gulf!" Hey... we're Ironmen (and women)... we can handle it right? Eventually the patrol SUV started coming down the beach but we were back inside by then.

I finally took the bracelet off. Had to have a friend take it off for me - I just couldn't do it myself. Now I'll wear finishers gear every day for a dozen years or so. At least until I decide if I'm getting a tattoo and what it will be. And where.

Great race everyone!  I saw all kinds of orange BT shirts ~ so y'all rocked FL!  Sorry I did not get to meet any of y'all... the crowds & the schedules were enough to distract anyone.

The drafting thing was disappointing!  I will say that, I was trying SOOO hard not to draft ~ riding to the inside, riding to the outside... riding faster than I planned to pass and trying not to get slowed too much by staying off others wheels ~ that is was frustrating!  Then to add insult to injury... at about mile 45 I get the motorcycle guy telling me I didn't make a pass within the 20 seconds and that is a drafting penalty - red card!  At the point that he gave me the card I was riding by myself.  It sucked, especially when there were riders sucking the rubber off the wheels in front of them.

Overall, the experience was great!  Congratulations go out to all the competitors!  There are some blazing fast times posted by BT'ers!  Y'all Rock!  I'll be concentrating on some sub 5hr HIM's in 2010 and then I will revisit the 140.6 distance in 2011... I would love to see sub 11hrs!

Great job everyone!  Stay the course, keep racing and enjoy every moment!

That's funny how we all ran into her. Soledad a really small chic from equador. Yes she was drafting. Passed me on hwy 20 right before the hills. Drafted right by with three people from Germany I think.

I'm absolutely going to do another IM...but in 2011.  After having spent $3000 on entry fees (both  community fund slots) this year, my wallet needs a break.  I'm planning on doing the FL 70.3 and maybe one of the Rev3 races this summer.

B for sure... but like y'al ~ not until 2011.  Doing three 70.3's in 2010 and then I will revisit the 140.6 distance.  it will be between Florida again or maybe give Arizona a shot.

In response to the questions about who is in...

Perhaps I am crazy -- and my wife certainly thinks I am -- but I signed up. It will be my first Iron length event. (I am doing the Florida Half Iron in May.)  I decided to take the plunge. Just looking to finish/survive. Definitely not looking (and not able) to do the sort of times I saw from other BT'ers' postings.

Good luck with your journey, its very rewarding. You tan post any time that you want for the race, don't count yourself out from the beginning. Believe in yourself and train to where you want to be. A year is a very long time. By the way ..there is a IMFL 2010 thread that has started up for next years event. This one is from 2009 =)

Will be for another in 2011 at IMMOO. strange as it is I was already thinking about number two in the final miles of the run. IMFL was the firts and loved every part. Still amazed at how fast the day went by. My comment to the family after was "did that all just happen" could not believe it was over.

B - I am 90% sure I will do the Rev3 full distance race at Cedar Point in September.  It all passed too quickly, I need to do it again!

Awesome! That race is going to be epic! I was going to do it as well but got talked into IMAZ by some local tri buddies who are doing it as well.

I totally attribute race day to being like a wedding, all that build up and then its over before you know it!

I will do another, but not next year.  I owe that to my wife and family.  It was an amazing experience and I know what I would do differently for my next one, but my 'iron-comeback' will have to wait

Next year, Eagleman 70.3 in the early summer and a bunch of Olys and Sprints.

I will defiantly be doing another one, but like most of you it will be in 2011 at the earliest.  I get to spend more time with my 10 week old now.

never say never, but probably one and done for me. 70.1 fits my life/ work better. I'm really looking forward to volunteering next year and living it all again (without the training hours!). It seems like forever ago when I crossed the finish; still decompressing. I can't believe I don't have anything planned this weekend. I am signed up for Gulf Coast Tri here  in the spring. A plug for Panama City- it is 70.1 distance on basically the same course as Ironman here in PCB. It is a well run race (with many of the same volunteers) and also a great time to visit. Southwest airlines starts serving Panama City in the spring, so it will be much easier (and cheaper) to get here. Anyway, good luck with the next one(s) and see you out training!!

Well this was my second...so I wasn't one and done. I got 16 minutes from breaking 12, so i am going to have to give it a shot. I felt i left alot out on the course and i could have done a lot better.

Well..for right now, I am done.  I would like to do another at some point in my life, but my work schedule is awful and my wife, supportive as she has been, does not want to go through this again...it really has been taxing on her and my daughter.

I still have my bracelet on..will probably take it off on Sunday... Everyone has been asking me at work about the race...impressed that i did it....they will do a write up in our newsletter about the race....everyone liked the finisher jacket that I purchased...I told them that this jacket was specially designed since there is a pocket in the front and that is where you keep your medal..and i would proceed to pull out the medal out of the pocket...

hard to believe that a week ago, I was NOT an Ironman......but now I am......

Will probably start swimming again next week since I PAID for my membership at the local college athletic facility....

All year I have lived by the "One and Done" motto.  Even last Saturday as I was having the time of my life I was still living the "One and Done".  However, on the 14 hr drive home I found myself figuring out how I can take time off "my next IM".  And tonight I told my husband I want to do another IM.  His response..."I expected nothing less".

Won't be for a couple years, but I'm in for ONE more

Already signed up for 2010 IMMOO.  I had a lot of fun at Florida but I have some unfinished business.  I was on track to hit my time goal all the way up to mile 127.  After this I had some difficulties with getting sick.  I was so close there is no way I can leave it hanging like that.  In addition, as someone who always had a weight problem I am trying to make this a lifestyle.  I lost 60 pounds to get to Ironman and I DO NOT want to put those back on.

Congrats again to everybody on your achievement.  This board is full of a whole bunch of AWESOMENESS!!!
